Carlton Dave Broussard, Sr.
Carlton Dave Broussard, Sr., 65, of Orange, died April 27, 2004 at St. Luke Hospital in Houston.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. today at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange. Officiating will be Mr. Neil Arce of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. A graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m. at Hanks Cemetery in Morse, Louisiana.
Born in Morse, Louisiana and former resident of Crowley, Louisiana, Mr. Broussard resided in Orange for the past 42 years. He retired as a powerhouse operator for Inland Container Corporation in Orange. He was a board member of the Cajun French Association and a member of Madison Lodge #126 AF&AM in Orange.
Preceded in death by his father, Andie Broussard, he is survived by his wife, Velma Broussard; mother Gladys Broussard; daughter and son-in-law, Belva and Larry Buckley; son and daughter-in-law, Carlton, Jr. and Tammy Broussard all of Orange; son, Jeffery Broussard of Livingston; brothers, Calvin Broussard, Sr. and Kenneth Broussard both of Orange; six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers will be Shannon Buckley, Michael Buckley, Jeremy Buckley, Dave Broussard, Jeffery Broussard, Jr. Charlie Bell, and Dominick Broussard. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Bush, R.C. Hutchinson, Jimmy Matthews, Bobby Dyson, and Howard Huff.

CROWLEY – Beatrice Douglas, 93, died Monday, April 26, 2004 in Houston. Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday, May 1 at Christ Sanctified Holy Church. Burial will be in the West Crowley Cemetery under the direction of Syrie Funeral Home of Lafayette.

RAYNE – Mrs. Pearl “Gertie” Sinegal, 64, died Monday, April 26, 2004 at the Rayne Guest House. Funeral services will be held at Saturday, May 1, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Branch. Burial will be in the Mount Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Owens-Thomas Funeral Home of Crowley.

Frank E. Everett, Jr.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, at 11:00 a.m., May 1st at Trinity Episcopal Church in Crowley for Frank E. Everett, Jr. who died April 24, 2004 in Bellevue, Washington. His remains will be interred in the Everett Family Plot in the Woodlawn Cemetery immediately after the service.
Mr. Everett is survived by his wife Mary Lou and 2 children, Frank E. Everett III of Bellevue, Washington and Kathryn E. Bowers of Ft. Worth, Texas, 3 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife Kathryn Harris, his parents Mr. and Mrs. Frank E. Everett of Crowley and his siblings, John N. Everett and Judge Charles T. Everett, both of Crowley.
After graduation from Crowley High School, Mr. Everett attended Louisiana State University where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering. He served with distinction in World War II with the Corps of Engineers in Iraq, Persia, India and Guam, attaining the rank of Major before being honorably discharged.
Mr. Everett settled in Bellevue, Washington and formed Mid Mountain Contractors, Inc., a highly successful company which serviced the oil and gas industry throughout the Western United States. He was a member of and past president of both the Distribution Contractors Association and the Pipeline Contractors Association. He was also a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon and a long time member of the Masons. He will be missed by both family and friends.

Odile Olivier Guidry
CHURCH POINT - Funeral services will be held Friday, April 30, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point for Odile Olivier Guidry, 94, who died Wednesday, April 28, 2004, at Gueydan Memorial Guest Home.
Interment will be in Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Church Point. Deacon Jim Cormier will officiate at the services.
Survivors include one sister, Letha Labbe of Church Point; eight grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gabriel Guidry, her parents Hermogene and Elise Daigle Olivier; two daughters, Judith Dale Miller and Grace Mae Benoit; one granddaughter, Bobbie Gayle Benoit and one grandson, Kenneth Joseph Benoit.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. Thursday and 8 a.m. Friday until time of services. A rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
Pallbearers will be her great-grandsons and her honorary pallbearers will be Michael, John and Fred Benoit.

Lawrence Sonnier, Sr.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 30, at 10 a.m. at St. Michaels Catholic Church for Lawrence Sonnier, Sr., 72, who died Tuesday, April 27, 2004, at his residence in Crowley.
Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Crowley. Father Gary Schexnayder will officiate at the services.
Mr. Sonnier was retired from John N. John Truck Line where he worked as a mechanic for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred Faulk Sonnier of Crowley; two sons, Ricky James Sonnier and his wife Jackie of Crowley and Curtis Joseph Sonnier and his wife Stephanie of Richard; a brother, Pierre Sonnier of Welsh; four sisters, Frances Gautreaux of Duson; Virginia Pepper of Lafayette; Lula Mae Canciennce of New Orleans and Helen Pastor of Crowley; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his son, Lawrence Sonnier, Jr.; a granddaughter, Nylah Danielle Sonnier; his parents, Julian and Ella Comeaux Sonnier; a brother, Clariel Sonnier and three sisters, Beulah Bourque, Loris Carriere and Alice Lejeune.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. Thursday and from 8 a.m. until service time Friday. A rosary will be prayed on Thursday at 6 p.m.

Lydia Leger Cormier
Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon, April 27, at 1:30 p.m. at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Crowley for Lydia Leger Cormier, 73, who died Monday, April 26, 2004, at Lafayette General Hospital.
Interment will be in Acadia Rest Haven Cemetery in Crowley. Father James Nguyen will officiate at the services.
Mrs. Cormier served in the United States Airforce during the Korean Conflict. She will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her.
Survivors include her husband, Durphy Cormier, Sr. of Crowley; one son, Durphy Jr. and his wife Eva Cormier of Crowley; one daughter, Tina Cormier of Crowley; three sisters, Alice Salassi of Welsh; Eugenia Lavergne of Gueydan; and Mary Landry of Iowa; and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Steven Gentry; her parents, Guilliam, Sr. and Amelia Istre Leger; two brothers Octave Leger and Guilliam Leger, Jr.; and five sisters, Marie Leger, Anna Mae Gentry, Matile Monceaux, Nita Leger and Pauline King.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 8 a.m. until service time on Tuesday, April 27.

Venia Mae Summers Pray
DENHAM SPRINGS - Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 28, at 11:15 a.m. at Duhon Funeral Home for Venia Mae Summers Pray, 89, who died Monday, April 26, 2004, at the Harvest Manor Nursing Home in Denham Springs where she has been residing for the past year.
Interment will be in Woodlawn Mausoleum in Crowley. The Rev. Ernest Toepter, a retired Baptist Minister will officiate at the services.
Mrs. Pray, the daughter of Nannie Reddin Summers and Elmer Summers, was born in Henrettia, Tx. on January 25, 1915 and has resided in Crowley since 1940 when her husband was transferred there with Humble Oil Company. She was an active member of the Eastern Stars, the Rebecca Lodge, the Exxon Retiree’s Club and the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sons and there wives, James D. Pray and wife Mary Riles Pray of Lafayette; H. Clint Pray and wife Jane Burt Pray of Covington; and George R. Pray and wife Helen Dollberg Pray of Denham Springs; ten grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, George C. Pray; her parents Nannie and Elmer Summers, five sisters and one brother.
Pallbearers will be Jeffory Pray, Steve Pray, Brian Pray, Eric Pray, Derek Pray Elias Ronstadt and Mitchell Ronstadt
Honorary Pallbearers will be Tanner Pray, Kalen Pray, Beau Pray, Andy Guidry and Brennon Gilbert.
Visitation will be Wednesday, April 28, 2004 from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Funeral services will begin at 11:15

Floyd Norman Killmer
IOTA - Funeral services will be held Monday, April 26, at 11 a.m. at Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel in Iota for Floyd Norman Killmer, 84, who died Saturday, April 24, 2004, at Iberia General Hospital.
Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Iota. Father David Broussard, pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iota, will officiate at the services.
Mr. Killmer was a member of the U. S. Army where he served his country during World War II. He also was a member of his local V. F. W. and American Legion for over 50 years. Mr. Killmer was a rice farmer his whole life. He will be sadly missed by his family, friends and community.
Survivors include his wife, Stella Schneider Killmer of Iota; two sons, John Louis Killmer and his wife Debbie of St. Louis; and Leonard Byron Killmer and his wife Billy of Baton Rough; one daughter, Bridget Killmer Smith and her husband Carroll of New Iberia; ten grandchildren, Jeremy, Caroline, Christopher, Seth, Haley and Ryne Killmer, Kevin Smith, Michelle Smith Kipp, Amanda and Emily Smith; two great-grandchildren, Cy Kipp and Andrew Sullivan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, J. F. and Nita Stakes Kilmer and one brother, Percy Killmer.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Sunday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Monday from 8 a.m. until service time.

Alicia “Chun” Gautreaux
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon, April 23, at 12:30 p.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church for Alicia “Chun” Gautreaux, 86, who died Wednesday, April 21, 2004 at the American Legion Hospital in Crowley.
Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery in Crowley. Fr. Rusty Richard officiated the services.
Survivors include two nephews Andrew Gauthreaux and his wife Pat; and Allen Gauthreaux both of Crowley; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Meonce Gauthreaux “Edith” of Crowley; two great nephews Brett Gauthreaux and his wife Kysha; and Kevin Gauthreaux both of Crowley and two great-great nephews, Griffin Dorr and Grant Gauthreaux both of Crowley.
He was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Josephine Menard Gauthreaux; one brother, Meonce Gauthreaux; and one sister, Angelle Delhomme.
Visitation was observed on Thursday from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to the time of service.

Louis James Welch
Funeral services was held Saturday afternoon, April 24, at 4 p.m. at Northside Assembly of God for Louis James Welch, 62, who died Thursday, April 22, 2004 at the American Legion Hospital in Crowley.
Interment was in Old Crowley Cemetery. The Rev. Randy Trahan, pastor of Northside Assembly of God Church in Crowley officiated at the services.
Survivors include his wife, Yvonne Abshire Welch of Morse; two daughters, Julia Ann Welch of Lawtell and Jeri Beth Welch of Morse; one son, Timothy James Welch of Carencro; two sisters, Opal Burch of Orange, Tx. and Mildred Myers of Morgan City; five grandchildren, Doni Ray Glover, Lori Shae Welch, Ashley Ann Welch, Dylan Scott Welch and Cole James Brock; one great-grandchild, Kylie Elizabeth Dugas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew V. Welch and Julia Hollier Welch; one daughter, Lori Ann Welch; three brothers, Leo, Bob and William Claude Welch; three sisters, Helen Hanagriff, Marie Welch and Dot Wilkerson.

Margaret Morgan Brien
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, April 24, at 2 p.m. Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel in Crowley for Margaret Morgan Brien, 89, who died Friday, April 23, 2004, at the American Legion Hospital in Crowley.
Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery in Crowley. Farther James Nguyen celebrated the Mass of Christian Burial and prayed the rosary on Friday evening.
Survivors include one daughter, Carol Melancon and her husband Jimmy of Crowley; three sisters, Patsy Lalonde Crowley; Earline Robinson and Rose Marie Vita both of Lake Charles; three grandchildren, Mary Abshire, Anne Schultz and James Dupont, Jr. and eight great-grandchildren, Catherine, Allyson, Kyle and Christian Abshire, Kurt Schultz, Trey, Joshua and Johnathon Dupont.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Grover and Angeline Pizzo Morgan; her husband, Roy Brien; one sister, Geneva Larson and one brother, Grover Morgan, Jr.
Visitation was observed from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m. Friday, April 23, 2004 and from 8 a.m. until service time on Saturday

Donald R. Stutes, Sr.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 24, at 11 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Crowley for Donald R. Stutes, Sr., 69, who died Thursday, April 22, 2004, at the American Legion Hospital in Crowley.
Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery in Crowley. A rosary was prayed at 6:30 p.m. Friday.
Mr. Stutes was a retired State Trooper who served 20 years with the Louisiana State Police. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Survivors include his wife, Mona Arceneaux Stutes of Crowley; one daughter, Ann Marie Stutes of Lake Charles; seven sons, Donnie Stutes and his wife Sabrina of Crowley; Carl Stutes of Crowley; Brian Stutes of Plaquemine; Kenneth Stutes of Jacksonville, Fla.; Michael Stutes and his wife Roberta of Maxie; Jeffrey Stutes and his wife Gretchen of Scott; and Robert Stutes and his wife Deborah of Morse; one sister, Rudell Voorhies of Crowley and fourteen grandchildren, Allison, Hannah, Carl, Natalie, Jason, Alyssa, Brennan, Michael, Emily, Vivian, Lauren, Christopher, Samuel and Lilly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sweeney John and Lucille Broussard Stutes; one brother, Sweeney Stutes, Jr.; and one sister, Merline Letz
Visitation was observed from 2 p.m. until 10 p.m. Friday, April 23, 2004 and from 8 a.m. until service time on Saturday.

Gilbert “Goose” Doucet
ESTHERWOOD - Funeral services will be held Monday, April 26, at 10 a.m. at Duhon Funeral Home Chapel in Crowley for Gilbert “Goose” Doucet, 64, who died Saturday, April 24, 2004, at V. A. Hospital in Alexandria.
Interment will be in Hanks Cemetery in Morse. Deacon Rodless Leleux will officiate at the services. A rosary will be prayed on Sunday at 6 p. m. at the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel.
Mr. Doucet served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Era.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Myrna Doucet of Estherwood; three daughters, Donna Guindon and her husband Daniel of Estherwood; Debbie Benoit and her husband Jeff of Morse; Dana Mullener and her husband Reed of Estherwood; two sons, David Doucet of Ohio; and Darrin Doucet of Estherwood; one brother, Offord John Doucet of California; and eight grandchildren, Chelsea, Aaron, Haleigha, Hannah, Celeste, D. J., Peyton and Harley Doucet.
He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Elia Trahan Doucet; his step-father, Relise Fontenot; three brothers, Walter, Clarence and Willard Doucet; and one sister, Inglise Doucet.

JENNINGS – Ms. Elizabeth Harmon, 37, died Thursday, April 15, 2004 in Jennings. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 21, 2004 at Bethel C.M.E. Church. Burial will be in the West Crowley Cemetery under the direction of Ford and Joseph Funeral Home.

Johnny Boudreaux
LAFAYETTE - Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon, April 21, at 2 p.m. at Duhon Funeral Home Chapel of Crowley for Johnny Richard, 55, who died Tuesday, April 20, 2004, at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Lafayette.
Interment will be in Indian Bayou Methodist Cemetery. Deacon Rodless Leleux will officiate at the services.
Survivors include his five brothers, John Hoffpauir of Gueydan; Eddie Hoffpauir of Colorado; Dwight Hoffpauir of Passadena, Tx.; James Richard, of Church Point; and Jack Hoffpauir of Lyons Point; two sisters, Aline Ann Stanton of Crowley; and Dolores Istre of Church Point; and his companion, Peggy Perry.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother.

CHURCH POINT – Mrs. Francis Roger McMillan, nee Marie Wilma Vidrine, 79, died Sunday, April 19, 2004 in Lafayette. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 20 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point. Burial will be in the St. John’s Cemetery in Lewisburg under the direction of Guidry Funeral Home of Church Point.

Eddie Kratzer
EUNICE - Funeral services were Saturday, April 17, at 10 a.m. at Ardoin Funeral Home Chapel for Eddie Kratzer, 55, who died Friday, April 16, 2004 at Eunice Community Medical Center.
Interment was in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Eunice. The Rev. Ernie Toepher officiated at the services.
Mr. Kratzer was an operator for Exxon Mobil. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved the outdoors and his family.
Survivors include his wife, Oneita Jenkins Kratzer of Eunice; his mother, Alice L. Kratzer of Crowley; his daughter, Jessica Kratzer of Eunice; his brother, Joseph F. Kratzer of Crowley and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy E. Kratzer; his father, Joe H. Kratzer and a sister, Shirely Istre.

Alger “Mout” Mouton
Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon, April 20, at 1 p.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church for Alger “Mout” Mouton, 84, who died Saturday, April 17,2004, at American Legion Hospital in Crowley.
Interment will be in Abshire Cemetery in Kaplan. Father James Nguyen will officiate at the services. A rosary was said at 7 p.m. on Monday at Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife, Una Mouton of Crowley; two daughters, Barbara Ann LaBorde and her husband M. J. of Baton Rouge and Gloria Mouton Hebert and her husband Danny of Crowley; one son, Russell James Mouton of Crowley; two stepsons, Earl J. LaPointe and his wife Susan of Sulphur and William “B.J.” LaPointe and his wife Betty of Westlake; seventeen grandchildren; thirty-three great grandchildren; and a niece, Elizabeth Comeaux and numerous other nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eusebe and Laiza Credeur Mouton; one brother, Clovis Mouton; one stepson, Rufus “Johnny” LaPointe, Jr.; one granddaughter, Jon’ LaPointe; and one great grandchild, Joshua Achord.

WALKER - Mildred Keffer, 84, of Walker died Saturday, April 17, 2004, at Baton Rouge Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 19 at St. Berchman Church. Interment will be in the St. Charles Cemetery in Grand Coteau. Arrangements have been entrusted to Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne.

Gertie Broussard Monceaux
Funeral services will be held at St. Michael's Catholic Church at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 18, 2004 for Gertie Broussard Monceaux, 81, of Crowley who died on Thursday, April 15, 2004 at her home. Mrs. Monceaux was formerly from Lyons Point and Oberlin, La.
Rev. Gary Schexnayder will officiate. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Crowley.
Visitation was observed on Saturday, April 17 from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. and with rosary prayed at 7 p.m., visitation will continue on Sunday, April 18 from 8 a.m. until time of service.
Mrs. Monceaux is survived by her two daughters, Linda M. Lejeune of Lake Charles; Deanna M. Reeves and her husband Tommy of Lafayette; and one son Randell J. Monceaux and wife Natalie of Crowley; fourteen grandchildren, Craig Lejeune, Michelle Simmons, Jacqueline Hamilton, Monique Shaw, Angelle Durio, Christopher Reeves, Brian Reeves, Kelly Reeves, Randell Monceaux, II Jared B. Monceaux, Jana Lynn Monceaux, Jada Renee' Monceaux, Nicole Monceaux, Chad Monceaux; fourteen great-children Blake DeBarge, Ashleigh DeBarge, Tabatha Beach, Christy Eaves, Cindy Willis, Cameron Durio, Blaine Durio, Taylor Shaw, Sara Shaw, Connor Monceaux, Caroline Monceaux, Jack Thomas Monceaux, William Monceaux and Kendyll Monceaux and great-great grandchild Caleb DeBarge. She is also survived by six sisters, Annie Mae Dubois of Kaplan; Callie Fruge', Ella Spell, Hazel Hebert of Crowley; Angel Miller of Iota ;and Ann Hebert of Rayne.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Augustine and Azetile Broussard; her husband, Percy Lee Monceaux; and two sons, Joseph Kenneth Ray Monceaux and Steve Anthony Monceaux.
Prior to moving to Crowley from Oberlin, Mrs. Monceaux was active in St. Joan of Arc Altar Society, Choir and CCD teacher for many years. Recently she was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church and a member of Come Lord Jesus Program. She and her six sisters met weekly to pray the rosary. After retirement from farming in 1979, Mr. and Mrs. Monceaux worked with the Louisiana Lions Club as manager and driver of the glaucoma and diabetic mobile unit.
Pallbearers are Craig Lejeune, Chris Reeves, Brian Reeves, Randell Monceaux, H, Jared Monceaux, Chad Monceaux, Blake DeBarge.

MILWAUKEE, WIS. – Camilla Butler Brown, 79, formerly of Crowely, died Monday, April 5, 2004 at her residence in Milwaukee. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 9 at St. Marks A. M. E. Church in Milwaukee. Northwest Funeral Chapel O’ Bee, Ford and Frazier was in charge.

CROWLEY – Mrs. Helen Hayes, 83, died Monday, April 12, 2004 at Acadia Rehab Center in Crowley. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 17 at Mr. Zion Baptist Church. Burial will be in the West Crowley Cemetery under the direction of Owens-Thomas Funeral Home of Crowley.

Marcus ‘Spanky’ Hanks
Funeral services were held for Marcus “Spanky” Hanks, 31, who died April 13, 2004 at 1:48 a.m. at his home in Morse. Services were held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Friday, April 16, at 10 a.m. with Father Don Pousson officiating.
Born November 4, 1972 in Gueydan, he was a resident of Morse. His favorite pastime was hunting, fishing and four-wheeling.
Survivors include a brother, Rod Hanks, and a sister-in-law, of Morse; two sisters, Christine Hanks of Morse, and Pam Woods and her fiance, Thomas LeJeune, of Gueydan, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emery and Laura Richard Hanks, a brother, Wendell James Hanks and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Richard and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Hanks.

Mrs. Yvonne Marguerite Reggie LaHood was born August 1, 1920 in Crowley. She attended St. Michael Catholic School where she lettered four years in basketball and was awarded the American Legion Medal. she completed business courses at Crowley Trade School before filling the position for many year of Clerk of the City Court and becoming secretary of Judge Denis Canan. She then served as secretary to Judge Canan’s successor, her brother, Judge Edmond M. Reggie.
In addition to being a religion teacher n the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine of St. Michael Church, she was active in the Catholic Daughters of America, the St. Michael Altar society, the St. Vincent de Paul Society for the Poor, the Crowley Little Theater, the Crowley Community Concert for Classical Music, the Lafayette Opera Association, Pink Ladies Volunteers of the American Legion Hospital, Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist to shut-ins, church lector, Associate of the Sisters of the Most Holy Sacrament, Member of the St. Michael Adult Choir, member of the St. Michael Study Club, a Professed member of the Flower of Carmel Community of the Lay Carmelite Order of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, founding member of the Friends of Humanities Organization and a member of Ellis Island Statue of Liberty Foundation.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Tom LaHood of Crowley; her daughter, Marie Therese LaHood Mayer; two granddaughters, Victoria and Margaret Mayer; two brothers, Samuel J. Reggie and his wife Barbara and Judge Edmond M. Reggie and his wife Doris and 23 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Victoria Reggie, immigrants of Lebanon; and one brother, Emile A. Reggie and his wife Marguerite.
She will be remembered by all for her kind, generous and loving spirit, enriching the lives of all whom she touched.
A rosary was recited Monday at 7:30 p.m. at Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home in Crowley. Visitation may be observed Tuesday 8 a.m. until time of service.

   Mrs. Gielen was a member of St. Michael’s Altar Society, a charter member of Pink Ladies at Crowley American Legion Hospital. She also volunteered at St. Michael’s Catholic Church and the Carmelite Monastery. She also served as a Eucharistic minister to shut-ins. She was a charter member of the Crowley Town Club and the Bayou Bend Country Club. She was a Head Resident at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge for 16 years. She was owner of Independent Rice Mill of Crowley and managed family rental properties.

Edward Thomas Bel
Edward Thomas Bel, Jr., 87, a resident of Houston, died on December 19 in Houston following a brief illness. According to his wishes, his ashes will be buried in Crowley. The burial service will take place at 1 p.m. on Easter Monday, April 12, 2004 at Woodlawn Cemetery.
Eddie Bel was born on July 23, 1916 in New Orleans. His family attended St. Rita’s Catholic Church there. As a teenager, his parents moved to Rayne, where he attended St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and graduated from high school. Later, his family moved to Crowley. After graduation, Eddie followed his father in the rice business. He worked for numerous rice mills, eventually moving to Houston in 1947 to work for Adolphus Rice Mills and then Riviana Foods. He retired from the latter after many years. He was formerly married to Olive Smith Bel of Crowley, with whom he had four children.
Eddie was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Thomas Bel, Sr. and Annie Daugherty, and by his sisters, Dorothy Bel Hoffman and Lois Bel Landry, all of Crowley. His four children survive him: Carolyn Bel Johnson of Florence, Mass.; George E. Bel of Lafayette; and Gladys Bel and Kathryn Bel Jones of Houston. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Bollich was a member of many organizations, such as U.S. Army, Knights of Columbus, Acadia Parish Farm Bureau and Mowata Veterans Committee. He was also an instructor for the Veterans Farm Program, a former district commissioner for the Amateur Softball Association and a softball team manager.
Survivors include his wife, Antoinette Frey Bollich of Scott; one son, Kevin Bollich of Dallas, Texas and and one sister, Annie Bollich Zaunbrecher of Crowley.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Louise Dischler Bollich.

Mr. Zaunbrecher was a life long resident of Acadia Parish and a descendent of the German community which settled at Roberts Cove in 1881. Following World War II, he followed a career in the oilfield as a directional drilling engineer in the Gulf of Mexico, Africa and elsewhere.
He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion, serving in the United States Army, 158th Infantry Regiment (Arizona National Guard) know as the “Bushmasters”. He saw active service in the Phillipine Island during the war, and after with the Allied Occupying Forces in Japan.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Friday.

Mrs. Beardsley was the former Esther Elizabeth Griffin of Crowley. She was a graduate of the Crowley High School Class of 1956.

Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum in Crowley. Fr. Rusty Richard, pastor of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Crowley, will officiate at the services. A rosary was recited Monday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
A native of Rayne, Mr. LaGrange moved to Crowley at an early age. Soon after his marriage to Nella Landry, they opened South Crowley Grocery and he continued to help operate LaGrange Coffee, a separate family business. They were in business for thirteen years until the outbreak World War II whereupon they closed the store and moved to Orange, Tx. where he worked at Orange Shipyard during the war years until 1946. They returned to Crowley and re-opened the grocery store at the corner of Eastern Avenue and Elm St. They named this store South Crowley Grocery and Market, but was known locally as the “Little Red Store”. Two years later, the store was sold to his brother. Mr. LaGrange was instrumental in beginning the process of a new church in South Crowley known as Immaculate Heart of Mary. He was one of the original trustees of the church and was an active choir member and usher for many years. He was a third and fourth degree Knights of Columbus in the Sacre’ Couer Council 5499 for over fifty years.
Survivors include his four daughters, Diana L. Leleux and her husband Don; Lynell L. Melancon and her husband Roland; Mary Lisa L. Broussard and her husband Ricky, all of Crowley; and Nina L. Landry and her husband Glen of Houston; two sons, Raymond LaGrange and his wife Carol of Rayne and Neil LaGrange and his wife Cindy of Crowley; three sisters, Cecil Trahan, Mary Winam and Wila Mac Sonnier and her husband Wilma all of Port Arthur, Tx. fifteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Elise Hanks LaGrange; his wife of 65 years, Nella Lucy Landry LaGrange; his oldest son, Kenneth James LaGrange, and two brothers, Mayard and Mayo LaGrange.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 8 a.m. until service time on Tuesday.

RAYNE – Mr. Voohries “Mr. Sing” Bossier, 88, died Sunday, April 4, 2004 at American Legion Hospital in Crowley. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 6, 2004 at Duhon Funeral Home Chapel in Crowley. Burial will be in the Acadia Resthaven Cemetery in Crowley under the direction of Duhon Funeral Home of Crowley.

Colise Cormier
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 3, 2004, at Immaculate Heart of Mary in Crowley for Colise Cormier, 72, who died Thursday, April 1, 2004, at American Legion Hospital.
Father Rusty Richard of Immaculate Heart of Mary, officiated the services. Burial was held at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Crowley.
Rosary was held Friday, April 2 at 6 p.m. at the Funeral Home Chapel.
Visitation began at 3 p.m. Friday, April 2 with viewing until 10 p.m. The funeral home reopened at 8 a.m. on Saturday, April 3 with viewing until time of services.
Survivors include his wife, Phoebe Cormier of Crowley; three daughters, Marjorie Trahan of Crowley, Shirley Daigle of Lacassine and Linda Hanks of Sunset; five brothers, Willis Cormier of Egan, Wallace Cormier of Crowley, Leonard Cormier of Iota, Roy Cormier of Crowley and Melvin Cormier of Morse; four sisters, Ruby Guidry of Mermentau, Lorraine Leger of Crowley, Laura LeBove of Crowley and Helen Thibodeaux of Florida; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by one son, Phillip Cormier; his parents, Felician and Elodie Trump Cormier and one brother, Clifton Cormier.

Mrs. Shirley Montgomery
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 6, 2004 at 11 a.m. in Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church for Mrs. Shirley Montgomery, 62, who died Saturday, April 4, 2004 at American Legion Hospital in Crowley. Officiating will be Rev. Donald Burnette and burial will be in the West Crowley Cemetery. A wake will be held at the church on Monday from 8-11 a.m.
Survivors include three daughters, Sercelina Castille and Tiffany Montgomery, both of Crowley and Margie Montgomery of Austin, Tx.; three brothers, Arthur Easton and Phillip Easton, both of Irving, Tx. and Freddie Easton of Africa; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace Montgomery and her mother, Margie Dykea.

EVANGELINE – Lloyd “Smiley” Davis, 98, died at 10:55 p.m. Friday, April 2 at Jeff Davis Living Center in Jennings. CROWLEY – VIRGINIA THIBO, 87, died Thursday, March 25, 2004 at a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 3 at St. Joseph Baptist Church. Burial will be in the West Crowley Cemetery under the direction of Syrie Funeral Home of Lafayette.

Atlas Dean Leger
KAPLAN - Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 2, 2004 at Vincent Funeral Home honoring the life of Atlas Dean Leger, 33, who died March 31, 2004 at his home in Kaplan.
He will be laid to rest at Kaplan Cemetery with Reverend Lenford Whitaker officiating the services.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Abshire Leger of Kaplan; a son, Atlas James Leger of Kaplan; a daughter, Alaina Katherine Leger of Kaplan; parents, Donald Leger and Brenda D. Leger of Egan; a brother, Paul Chadwick Leger of Baton Rouge; a sister, Kristal Dawn Hampton of Lake Charles; and grandparents, Hershall Paul Leger and Pheobe Marie Leger of Egan and Willie Mae Dronet of Crowley.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Atlas James Dronet.

Stanley David Byron
NEWTON, TX - Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon, April 1, at 1 p.m. at Duhon Funeral Home Chapel in Crowley for Stanley David Byron, 62, who died Monday March 29, 2004, at Jasper Memorial Hospital in Jasper, Tx.
Interment will be in Ebenezer Cemetery in Crowley. The Rev. Lloyd Singley will officiate at the services.
Mr. Byron was a native of Crowley and a resident of Newton, Tx.
Survivors include his two daughters, Sarah Walker of Lafayette; and Melissa Tarabbas of Newton, Tx.; one son, Huey David Byron of Newton, Tx.; one brother, Huey David Byron of Newton, Tx. and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death his wife, Judy Ann Hanks Byron; his parents, Alyida Toups and Willie Byron; one brother, Hadley Byron; four sisters, Gelta Dugas, Willa Mae Hanks, Mary Jean Dugas and Helen Hargrave.

RAYNE – Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, April 2, 2004 at a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph Catholic Church for Jason Jon Petitjean, 34, who died Tuesday, March 23, 2004 in a Helicopter accident.
Interment will be in Assumption Cemetery in Mire.
Survivors include his wife Christi Petitjean, of Mire; one son, Jason Blake Petitjean, of Mire; one daughter, Blaire McKenzie Petitjean, of Mire; mother, Mary Alice Petitjean, of Rayne; father, Donald J. Petitjean and wife Jane, of Mire; one brother, Jonathan Petitjean and wife Nalani, of Mire; birth mother, Karen Pickett; sisters, Karen Pickett and Erika “Dani” Pickett; brother Gator Pickett; Step sisters and brother, Lynette Gotte, Darren Gotte and wife Kim, Vanessa Miller and husband Robert.
