Eumea Guidry
MORSE – Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 19, 2006 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church of Lyons Point, for Eumea D. Guidry, 87, who died Monday, April 17, 2006 at the Crowley Guest House.
Interment will be in Lyons Point Cemetery.
The Rev. Mitchell Guidry will conduct the service.
Mrs. Guidry was a native of Lyons Point and a resident of Morse. She was a member of the Ladies Altar Society. She loved her church and was very active in the church.
Survivors include two sons, NuJay Guidry and his wife, Patricia of Ebenezer; and Chester Lee Guidry and his wife, Juanita of Morse; one brother, David Doucet of Lyons Point; six grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clophia and Marie Istre Doucet; her husband, Euclide Guidry; three sisters, Estelle Richard, Lucia Trahan and Edna Doucet; and one grandson, Greg Guidry.
The family has requested that visitation begin Tuesday from 2:30 p.m. until 10 p.m. and continue Wednesday from 8 a.m. until time of service
A rosary will be prayed Tuesday 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Matthews and Son Funeral Home of Gueydan.

Bobby Smith
CROWLEY – Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 18, 2006 at Northside Assembly of God Church in Crowley for Bobby Clemille Smith, 67, who died April 9, 2006 at American Legion Hospital in Crowley.
Rev. Loyd Singley will be officiating for the services. Visitation may be observed Monday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Tuesday from 8 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be in Abshire Cemetery.
He is survived by one daughter, Grace Smith of Branch; one son, Cheyenne Smith of Crowley; three brothers, Amos Abshire of Branch; Ervin Abshire of Lyons Point; and Damrist Abshire of Jennings; four sisters, Mary Jenette Leger of Krotz Springs; Lois Fontenot of Iota; Margie Lormand of Crowley; and Yvonne Welsh of Morse; and nine grandchildren, Skyler Gary, Ryan Bertrand, Janniee Smith, Camren Smith, Brandon Spell, Bonnie Smith, Robert Smith, Ashley Smith and Cheyenne Smith, Jr.
Mr. Smith is preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Wheaton Smith; his father, Clarence Smith; his mother, Nola Richard Smith Abshire; one sister, Nola Broussard, Theresa Wheaton, and Grace Smith; and one brother, John Ray Abshire.
Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Aline Bourque
BEAUMONT, Texas – Aline Marie Schexnayder Bourque, 84, of Beaumont, died Wednesday, April 12, 2006 at Beaumont Health Care Center.
She was born in Kaplan, was a long-time resident of Crowley, and has lived in Beaumont since 1994. Aline was a homemaker, nurse’s aid with American Legion Hospital in Crowley and also a sitter for many years.
Aline’s husband, Lucien Bourque; her daughter, JoAnn Sonnier; her sister, Lou Fritz; her brother, Edwin Schexnayder; and her parents, Edward and Alicia Suire Schexnayder preceded her in death.
Survivors include her daughter, Oneida “Deede” Covington and her husband, D.W. “Dory” of Beaumont; her son, Jean Keno Bourque and his wife, Bessie of Santa Fe, Texas; her grandchildren, Patrick Sean Covington and his wife, Sonja of League City, Texas; Dory Covington of Nederland, Texas; Mark Sonnier of Kaplan; Charles Lynn Sonnier of Crowley; Debra Sonnier of Mermentau; Brenda Blevins and her husband, David of Nassau Bay, Texas; and Pam White and her husband, Thomas of Santa Fe, Texas; twenty-one great grandchildren; her brothers, William Schexnayder, Kernes Schexnayder, and John B. Schexnayder all of Crowley, and John Schexnayder of Pasadena, Texas; her sister, Shirley Schexnayder of Crowley; and other nieces, nephews and loving family members.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday, April 17, 2006 at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Beaumont. There will be a 2 p.m. graveside service at Suire Cemetery in Forked Island under the direction of Broussard’s Funeral Home of Beaumont, Texas. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 16, 2006 with a Christian Vigil at 7 p.m. at Broussard’s Funeral Home, 2000 McFaddin, Beaumont.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Pius X Catholic Church, 5075 Bigner Road, Beaumont, Texas 77708.

RAYNE – Forest Joseph Trahan, 72, died Friday, April 14, 2006 at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 17 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery #2 Mausoleum under the direction of Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne.

CHURCH POINT – Leroy Guidry, 80, died Wednesday, April 12, 2006 in Lafayette. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 17 at Our Lady Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Guidry Funeral Home of Church Point.

IOTA – Jimmie Darrell Courville III, 36, died Thursday, April 11, 2006 in Louisville, Ky. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 17 at Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel in Iota. Burial will be in the Iota Cemetery under the direction of Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home of Iota.

RAYNE – Alton Gilliam Cormier, 66, died Thursday, April 13, 2006 at Lafayette General Hospital in Lafayette. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 17 at Assumption Church in Mire. Burial will be in the Assumption Cemetery under the direction of Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne.

John Robert ‘Bob’ Faulk
EBENEZER – Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 15, 2006, at 2 p.m at Ebenezer Methodist Church for John Robert ‘Bob’ Faulk, 86, who died Thursday, April 13, 2006 at the VA Hospital in Alexandria.
Rev. Charles Floyd will officiate for the services. Burial will be in Ebenezer Cemetery. Visiting hours will be observed Friday from 10 a.m. until service time on Saturday.
Survivors include one brother, Murrel Faulk from Alexandria and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Eunice Hoffpauir Faulk; his parents Raymond and Azalie Abshire Faulk; four sisters, Beatrice Faulk Strange, Bertie Lucille Faulk Hoffpauir, Nettie Lavancha Faulk, and Ester Mae Faulk Lee; four brothers, Walter Luther Faulk, Rufus William Faulk, Elmer Lee Faulk, and Elvis Oral “Chunk” Faulk.

Lillian Richard Doucet
RAYNE – Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 15, at 4 p.m. at Assumption Church in Mire for Lillian Richard Doucet, 83, who died Wednesday, April 12, 2006 at American Legion Hospital.
Msgr. Russell Harrington will officiate for the services. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery. Visiting hours will be observed Friday from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. and continue Saturday from 8 a.m. until service time. A rosary will be recited Friday at 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
Survivors include her husband, Eby Doucet of Rayne; four sons, James Aubry Doucet and his wife, Patricia of Scott; James Lee Doucet of Rayne; James Michael Doucet and his wife, Kathy of Carencro; and Malcolm Doucet and his wife, Margaret of Rayne; two daughters, Patsy Doucet Comeaux of Rayne and Marlene Thibodeaux and her husband, John Allen of Rayne; two sisters, Urella Richard of Rayne and Amie Lavergne of Rayne; 17 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Mrs. Lillian was preceded in death by her parents, Maurice Richard and Clementine Guidry Richard.

Velma Roy
CROWLEY – Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 13, at 2 p.m. at Duhon Funeral Home Chapel for Velma Roy, 78, who died Monday, April 10, 2006 at American Legion Hospital.
Deacon Rodless LeLeux will officiate for the services. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Visiting hours will be observed Wednesday from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m. and continue Thursday at 8 a.m. until service time. A rosary will be recited Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Survivors include three daughters, Deborah Jaubert of Lafayette; Sharon Roy Ebeling of Lafayette; and Allison Roy Cormier of Crowley; two sons, Glen Dale Roy of Breaux Bridge and Danny Joseph Roy of Ridge; two sisters, Aline Guidry of Crowley and Joyce Nevers of Long Beach, Miss.; one brother, Charles Edward Moffitt of Eunice; her caregiver, Karen Constantin of Crowley; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Isles T. and Myrtle Carlin Moffitt and one great grandson, Hayden Coye Bianchenni.

Perina Cuplin
CROWLEY – Perina Cuplin, 94, of Cleveland, Texas, passed away February 19, 2006.  She was born in Crowley, on October 1, 1911 to James and Perina Huff of whom preceded her in death along with her husband, Ralph D. Cuplin; her brother, Travis Huff; and her granddaughter, Sabrina Hope Cuplin.
She is survived by her son, James H. and Roberta S. Cuplin; her granddaughter, Emily P. Cuplin; her grandsons, Derek McCoy and Chip McCoy; her great grandchildren, Harrison Jones, Logan Jones, Kayleigh Hill, Tyler McCoy and Miranda Michaels; also survived by her nieces, Leah June Truesdell and Joyce Roy. She has many great-nieces and nephews and other cherished family members and caring friends. She will surely be missed.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, April 29, 2006, 1 p.m. at First Christian Church, in Crowley with Rev. Hilliard Comeaux officiating.

NUNEZ – Denise Renee King, 42, died Tuesday, April 11, 2006 at Lafayette General Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, April 13 at St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church. Burial will be in the Gueydan Cemetery under the direction of Vincent Funeral Home of Kaplan.

Carlton Mouton Sr.
“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.” Psalm 23:4
LAFAYETTE – Carlton Richard Mouton, Sr. was born on September 29, 1937 to the late Frank Mouton and Lillian Pierce-Mouton, both of Rayne. He departed this life on Thursday evening, April 6, 2006 in the Heart Hospital of Lafayette. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 15, 2006 a Christian burial at Starlight Missionary Baptist Church in Rayne. Reverend Cozy Gage will be the Celebrant and will conduct the Funeral Services.
Entombment will be in Our Mother of Mercy Cemetery.
Carlton Richard Mouton was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Lillian Mouton; his sister, Ethel Mouton Jackson, and two brothers, Leo Mouton and Cammie Mouton.
During his life he served his country in the United States Army, from which he was honorably discharged. He was a member of the American Legion Post 77 of Rayne. Carlton "Richard" was employed at Sunbeam Bakery for over twenty years. His last occupation was a Security Guard at the Schlumberger Company.
Carlton "Richard" was united in holy matrimony to Margaret Ann Dugas of Rayne, of this union three children were born. Two sons, Carlton Richard Mouton Jr. (Suzzette) of Rayne; Christopher Kent Mouton (Natasha) of Los Angeles, Calif.; and one daughter, Venesta Faye Mouton-Wilson of Rayne. He had four grandchildren, Marquita Wilson, Jeremy Mouton, Ty Mouton and Jasmine Mouton.
He leaves to cherish his memories to his wife of 46 years, Margaret Dugas Mouton; his three children, four grandchildren, two sisters, Jessie Curtis and brother-in-law L.D. Curtis of Houston, Texas; Emma Dell Hall of Houston, Texas; two brothers, Edward Clyde Mouton and sister-in-law, Awdora Mouton of Washington, D.C.; Terry Mouton of New York, N.Y. and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Carlton "Richard" was a very well known man in the community of Rayne. He was known to everyone as "Richard" or "Rich," but to his grandchildren he was called "Granddaddy." His smile brought joy to everyone's face. He was a kind and gentle man who loved to laugh and tell jokes. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten by his family and friends.
The family requests visitation be observed from 8 a.m. Saturday, April 15, 2006 until time of funeral service of 1 p.m. Syrie Funeral Home of Lafayette is in charge of arrangements.

CHURCH POINT – Mrs. Houston “Black” Doucet, 82, died Monday, April 10, 2006 at her residence in Branch. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 12 at St. Edmund Catholic Church in Branch. Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Guidry Funeral Home of Church Point.

JENNINGS – Jerry Dale Ingram, 46, died Sunday, April 9, 2006 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 12 at Matthews and Son Funeral Home Chapel of Jennings. Burial will be in the Tee-Mamou under the direction of Matthews and Son Funeral Home of Jennings.

Barron Simar
JENNINGS- Services were held at 3p.m. Monday, April 10, 2006 at Bethel Baptist Church of Jennings, for Barron “Barry” Keith Simar, 31, who died Friday, April 7, 2006 at his mother’s residence.
Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
The Rev. Tony Bourque will conduct the service.
Mr. Simar was a native and resident of Jennings. He loved fishing and hunting.
Survivors include his mother, Shelia Wills of Jennings; his father and step-mother, Keith and Patsy Simar of Iota; two sons, Tyler Keith Simar of Lafayette; and Logan Simar of Jennings; one sister, Andrea Simar of Jennings; two half-sisters, Krystal Simar of Thibodaux; and Chelsea Simar of Iota; his grandparents, Keith and Jean Walls of Jennings; aunts and uncles, Darrell and Sandra Walls of Jennings; Cynthia Walls of Jennings; Bryan and Sonia Miller of Iota; and Quillan and Tonia Bertrand of Iota; and one nephew, Zachary L. Daigle of Jennings.
He was preceded in death by his step-father, Milton R. Wills and his grandparents, Ivan and Jeanelle Simar.
Visitation began Sunday from 3 p.m. until 10 p.m. and continued Monday 8 a.m. until time of service.
A rosary was prayed at 6:30 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
Arrangements were entrusted to Matthews and Son Funeral Home of Jennings.

GUEYDAN – Ada Marie Weekley, 85, died Sunday, April 9, 2006 at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 12 at Matthews and Son Funeral Home Chapel in Gueydan. Burial will be in the Istre Cemetery under the direction of Matthews and Son Funeral Home of Gueydan.

Elias Pousson
JENNINGS- Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 10, 2006 at Matthews and Son Funeral Home Chapel of Jennings, for Elias E. Pousson, 84, who died Friday, April 7, 2006 at the Jennings American Legion Hospital.
Interment will be in Mermentau Cemetery.
Mr. Jack Harris will conduct the service. The Eulogy will be given by Treg Istre.
Mr. Pousson was a native of Egan and a resident of Mermentau.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby L. Pousson of Mermentau; two daughters, Cheryle Richard and her husband, Dalton of Morse; Lona Lege and her husband, Harold Wayne of Mermentau; four brothers, Egnas Pousson of Crockett, Texas; Walter Pousson of Westlake; August Pousson of Beaumont, Texas; and Lloyd Pousson of Crowley; four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Maxime and Ella Thibodeaux Pousson; one grandson, Everret John Richard; seven brothers, Clinton, Guilliam, Phillip, Whitney, Abner, Anthony and Ellis Pousson; and one sister, Abbey LeJeune.
The family has requested that visitation begin Sunday 2:30 p.m. until 10 p.m. and continue Monday 8 a.m. until time of service
Pallbearers will be Dalton Richard, Harold Lege, Trevor Lege, Bryan Rowell, Jeremy Lege and Toby Lanthier.
Honorary Pallbearer will be Shay Gothe.

Gerald Doty
LAKE CHARLES – Gerald Wade Doty, 73, passed away on April 7, 2006 in Extended Care of Lake Charles.
He was a native of Crowley and he lived most of his life in Lake Charles. He was a Navy Mechanical Specialist and served in Korea. He retired from Lake Charles Carbon after 30 years. Mr. Doty attended Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church and Christ the King Catholic Church and was an accomplished gardener.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Ouida Guidry Doty of Gueydan; four sons, Bryan Doty and David Doty of Lake Charles and Mike Doty and Patrick Doty of Duson; one daughter, Cynthia James of Pitkin; one brother, Foster Doty of Lake Charles; 15 grandchildren and six grandchildren.
He is proceeded in death by his sister, Juanita Doty Gilbert and a brother Oscar Albert Doty Jr.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 10 at Hixson Funeral Home in Lake Charles with Father Wayne LeBlue officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. and on Monday from 8 a.m. until service time. A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. on Sunday.

Mary Bertrand
CROWLEY – Funeral services were held Saturday, April 8, at 2 p.m. at Duhon Funeral Home Chapel for Mary Bertrand, 62, who died Thursday, April 6, 2006 at Lafayette General Hospital.
Rev. Wayland Vincent officiated for the services. Burial was in Abshire Cemetery in rural Kaplan. Visiting hours were observed Friday. from 3 p.m. until 10 p.m. and continued Saturday from 8 a.m. until time of services.
Survivors include her husband, Willard Bertrand Sr. of Crowley; two daughters, Theresa A. Mouton and Joanie M. Kibodeaux, both of Crowley; one son, David Davis of Crowley; three brothers, Albert Watson of Willis, Texas; William T. Watson of Newton, Texas; and David Watson of Livingston, Texas; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Mrs. Bertrand was preceded in death by her first husband, Henry Davis; one son, Richard Wayne Davis; and her parents Artist Albert and Stella Rippy Watson.

Flora Bell Comeaux
CROWLEY – A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, April 10, 2006 at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church for Flora Belle Terro Comeaux, 79, who died Friday, April 7, 2006 at Crowley Rehab Hospital.
Fr. Matthew Higginbotham, Pastor of Immaculate Heart of Mary, will officiate for the services. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. The family requests visiting hours be observed Sunday from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. and Monday from 8 a.m. until service time. A rosary will be recited Sunday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Survivors include two sons, Donald Comeaux and his wife, Judy of Crowley; Dale Comeaux and his wife, Rose of Highlands, Texas; one brother, Elwood J. Terro and his wife, Aline of Crowley; five grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
Mrs. Comeaux was preceded in death by her husband, Nelson Comeaux; her daughter, Pat C. Istre; one grandson, Shane Istre; her parents, Whitney and Lovenia Simon Terro; and two brothers, Wilbert Terro and Herbert Terro.
Mrs. Comeaux was a native of Mermentau Cove and a resident of Crowley. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and the Ladies Altar Society. She worked as a cafeteria cook at St. Michael’s High School and Redemptorist Catholic and retired after thirty-two years of service.
Pallbearers will be Paul Duhon, E. P. Istre, Shannon Comeaux, Daniel Thevis, Carlton Istre and Tim Monceaux. Honorary pallbearer will be Chad Comeaux.

Joyce Dyson
CROWLEY – A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 p.m. Monday, April 10, 2006 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Crowley for Joyce Thibodeaux Dyson, 76, who died April 7, 2006 at American Legion Hospital in Crowley.

She is survived by two daughters, Lena Credeur and her husband, Jessie of Carencro and Earline Adams and her husband, Floyd of Crowley; one son, Ronnie Allen Fontenot and his wife, Eura of Crowley; one sister, Mildred Miquez and her husband, Donald; four brothers, Tommy Thibodeaux and his wife, Brenda; Hilliard Thibodeaux and his wife, Irene; Rufus Thibodeaux and his wife , Anes; and Percy Thibodeaux and his companion, Janie Verdine; eight grandchildren, Jason Credeur, Johnny Lee Stevens, Stephanie Monceaux, Christopher Stevens, Shelly Mouton, Stelly Stevens, Tabatha Romero, and Holly Stevens; and seventeen great grandchildren, Jessica, Austin Joseph, Abbrigail, Justin, Chelsea, Desara, Joshua, Andrew, Jacob, Kylie, Kaitlin, Bailey, Julie, Austin Michael, Hannah, Layla, and Tanner.
Ms. Dyson is preceded in death by her husbands, Whitney Joseph "Cap" Abshire, Joseph Fontenot, and Floyd Dyson; her mother, Edoris Mire Thibodeaux Hoffpauir and her father, Dugas Thibodeaux; and two brothers, Henry and Daniel Thibodeaux.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and playing bingo. She will be missed by all who loved her.
Musical selections will be provided by V.J. Boulet.

EUNICE – Flo Kearney, 90, died Thursday, April 6, 2006. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 11, 2006 at St. Thomas Moore Catholic Church. Burial will be in the St. Paul Mausoleum under the direction of Ardoin Funeral Home of Eunice.

James “Man” Davis Sr.
CROWLEY – On the evening of April 4, 2006, James “Man” Allen Davis Sr., 62, departed this world from his home to take his place among the angels to dwell in his eternal home with Jesus Christ.
James was born August 11, 1943 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Davis Sr. in Crowley. He was member of St. Theresa’s Church in Crowley. He was a devoted, dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend who had a profound affect on everyone he encountered.
He leaves to cherish his love and spirit his wife and partner of 44 years, Gloria “Jeannie” Davis; one son, James “Pukey” Davis Jr. and his wife, Betty of Hot Springs, Ark.; four daughters, Vivian “Seedy” Davis-Moore and her husband, Robert; Janet Davis, Sandra Morris, Carolyn “Kay” Davis, all of Crowley; five sisters, Christine “Teen” Williams, Hazel “Sherrie” Charles, Inez “Nancy” Davis, Charlotte “Nookie” Davis, all of Crowley and Lettie Mae Hester and her husband, Herman of Beaumont, Texas; three brothers, Arthur “Lee-Lee” Davis Sr. of Houston, Texas; Elmo Davis of Crowley and Ernest Dugar of Detroit, Mi.; nine grandchildren, Matthew, Kenneth, Temeka, Savon, Malane, Tenisha, Kaera, Johnathan and Elliot; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives as well as friends.
Awaiting his arrival at the “Pearly Gates” are his parents, two sisters, Shirley and Patricia; three brothers, Joseph “Tater,” Floyd and Calvin “Cabbage.”
Funeral services will be held at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Crowley on Saturday, April 8. Viewing will begin at 8 a.m. with a rosary at 9 a.m. and final services at 10 a.m. He will be laid to rest in the South Crowley Cemetery. Arrangement have been entrusted to Syrie Funeral Home of Lafayette.

KAPLAN– Preston P. Touchet, 75, died Monday, April 3, 2006 at Southwest Medical Center in Lafayette. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 8, at Duhon Funeral Home Chapel. Rosary will be on Friday April 7, at 6:30 p.m. Burial will be in the Kaplan Cemetery under the direction of Duhon Funeral Home of Crowley.


Mrs. Barbara Pete
JENNINGS – Funeral services for Mrs. Clarence (Barbara Broussard) Pete, 55, will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, April 7, 2005 in Our Lady of Perpetual Catholic Church with Rev. Hyacinth Okafor officiating.
Visitation will be observed on Thursday, April 6, from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. and on Friday from 8 a.m. until time of services.
Burial will be in the Mermentau Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Jennings.
Mrs. Pete died at 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 4, 2006 in the Jennings American Legion Hospital.
She was a resident of Jennings since 1978 moving here from Silverwood. She was a graduate of the Jefferson Davis High School class of 1968 and a graduate of USL now ULL, Lafayette in education. She received her Master’s in education from McNeese State University in Lake Charles
She was a Christian, diligent in her service to the Lord. She was a member of Louisiana Educators Association and she was a volunteer for the hurricane victims here in Jennings
Mrs. Pete was involved in various charitable organizations. She taught fifth grade at Egan and Evangeline Elementary Schools, both in Acadia Parish.
Later in her career she was curriculum facilitator in Acadia Parish.
Survivors include her husband, Clarence Pete of Jennings; two daughters, Amber J. Pete and Brittany J. Pete, both of Jennings; one step-daughter, Anissa Abraham, of Temple, TX; three sisters, Margaret Ann Leopold of Pacoima, CA, Marva Ward and Jeraldine Rideaux, both of Jennings.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Planey and Ethel Sweet Broussard Johnson, her step-father, Robert “Bob” Johnson; and four brothers, Joseph W. Broussard, Sterling F. Broussard, Paul P. Broussard and Ronald J. Broussard.

Ronald Joseph Bertrand
RAYNE – Memorial services will be held for Ronald Joseph Bertrand at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church on Friday, April 7, 2006 at 11 a.m. with Father Buddy Breaux officiatiing. A Rayne attorney for many years, he died at his home on April 4, 2006, at the age of 61.
Considered by many to be an outstanding member of his profession, he thoroughly enjoyed the practice of law until his neurological illness caused him to resign in July of 2004. Shortly afterwards, Charles Plattsmier of the Bar Association noted that, “In this day and age, it is indeed rare to find an attorney who, having been in practice for over 30 years, has never had a disciplinary complaint filed against him.”
Ronald was born in Marrero, attended schools in Rayne, Starks, and Lake Charles before being graduated from Immaculatta Seminary on the Breaux Bridge Hwy in Lafayette. He then completed a four year course at McNeese in two years and recieved a scholarship to Tulane where he obtained his law degree. In addition, he served in the United States Air Force as a first lieutenant during the Veitnam conflict.
He was married to the former Sara Short and was the father of one son Michael. Besides his wife and son, Ronald is survived by his parents Ella and Dr. John Bertrand of Crowley; three sisters: Linda and her husband John Lambert of Baton Rouge; Darlene and her husband Eddie Veillon of Lake Charles; and Angie and her husband Ron Coleman of Acworth, GA.; four nephews, Scott Steib, Tony and Chris Gibbs, and Ronnie Coleman; four nieces, Summer Steib-Castleman, Anne and Monica Veillon, and Anna Coleman; two great-nephews, John Avery Steib and Rowan Avery Steib-Castleman; and one great niece Anaise Parker Steib-Castleman.
On his parental side, two aunts, Catherine and her husband Dale Boudreaux and Corrine Thibodeaux; and two uncles, Geaorge Theriot and his wife Barbara and Dave Theriot, all of Raceland.

Denezia Primeaux
CROWLEY – A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, April 4, 2006 at 12 noon at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church for Denezia Touchet Primeaux, 78, who died Saturday, April 1, 2006 at Crowley Guest House.
Fr. Matthew Higginbotham, Pastor of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, will officiate for the services. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Lyons Point.
The family requests visiting hours be observed Tuesday from 8 a.m. to service time. A rosary was recited Monday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Survivors include two sons, Ronnie Primeaux of Lafayette, and Anthony Primeaux and his wife, Shelly of Crowley; and one grandson, Troy Primeaux of Lafayette.
Mrs. Primeaux was preceded in death by her husband, Grady Primeaux; her parents, Lezphor and Amelia Schexnayder Touchet; one sister, Ida Rose T. "Tit" Thibodeaux; and two brothers, Vernice and Dennis Touchet.
Mrs. Primeaux was a native of Lyons Point and a resident of Crowley. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and the Ladies Altar Society.

Hilda Foreman
GUEYDAN- Services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 4, 2006 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church of Gueydan for Hilda Trahan Foreman, 77, who died Saturday, April 1, 2006 in a Lake Charles Hospital of an extended illness.
Interment will be in Gueydan Cemetery. The Rev. Mitchell Guidry will conduct the service.
Mrs. Foreman was born September 22, 1928 to Eslay and Aline Trahan. She married Minice on May 29, 1944. She was passionate about her Catholic faith, family, sewing, gardening and cooking all of her life. She was a member of the Ladies Altar Society, Catholic Daughters and the Mrs. C. P. Zaunbrecher Scriptural Rosary and Prayer Group.
Survivors include two daughters and son-in-laws, Judy and Roland Guidry of Gueydan; and Arline and Daniel Bellard of Lake Arthur; one son, Lester Foreman and his wife, Sandra Trumps of Gueydan; five grandchildren, Cindy Guidry Sonnier and her husband, Mike; Andy Guidry and his wife, Kay; Jodie Foreman Robbins and her husband, Roy; Jeremy Foreman and his fiancé, Heather Breaux, and Frances Bellard; four great grandsons, Scott Sonnier, Zachary Guidry, Joseph and Joshua Robbins; one brother, Kersey Trahan of Gueydan; two sisters, Sarah Richard of Scott; Delores Hebert of Lafayette; numerous nieces, nephews and godchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Aline Trahan Trahan in 1931, her brother, Charles Trahan in 1966, her brother, Hugh in 1968, her father, Eslay Trahan in 1977 and her husband, Minice in September of 2004.
The family has requested that visitation be Tuesday from 8 a.m. until time of service.
A rosary was prayed Monday 7 p.m. in the funeral home.

CHURCH POINT – Emery Martin, 80, died Monday, April 3, 2006 at Acadia St. Landry Guest Home in Church Point. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 5 at Our Lady Sacred Heart. Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Guidry Funeral Home of Church Point.

RAYNE – Shirley Jacquneaux Richard, 58, died Sunday, April 2, 2006 at Our Lady of Lourdes in Lafayette. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 4 at Duhon Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the St. Theresa Cemetery under the direction of Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne.

KAPLAN – Theola “Chun” Faulk, 95 died Monday, April 2, 2006 at Crowley American Legion Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 5, 2006 at Vincent Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Kaplan Cemetery under the direction of Vincent Funeral Home of Kaplan.

Lillian Thibodeaux
ABELINE, Texas – Lillian Thibodeaux, 82, of Abilene, died Wednesday, March 29, 2006, at an Abilene Medical Center. Services will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 Hwy 277 South, with Rev. Richard McKelvain officiating.
Visitation was Saturday at the funeral home in Abilene. The graveside service will be 1 p.m. Monday in Istre Cemetery in Crowley.
Born in Mermentau, on September 21, 1923, Lillian was the daughter of Dometille (Hanks) and Severin Romero. She was a graduate of Crowley High School and attended Atlanta Christian College in Georgia. On June 25, 1940, she married Anthony Thibodeaux in Crowley, a minister in the Independent Christian Church for over 50 years. The couple served in Cheneyville, Elizabeth City, N.C., Baldwin, Miss., Kissimmee, Fla. and Roscoe, Mo., as well as in the Texas cities, of Orangefield, Wellington, Olney, Bowie, Cameron and Sour Lake, from which they moved to Abilene in 1972.
Mrs. Thibodeaux had been a self-employed wedding caterer. In 1973 she began working in food service for Abilene Independent School District at Dyess Elementary School, the career from which she retired.
She was predeceased by her husband, her parents, four brothers and one sister.
Survivors include a son, Henry Allen Thibodeaux of Abilene; daughters, Gail Hooman and Cheryl Dean Weinald, both of Abilene; one brother, Walter Romero of Missouri; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Randall Gautreaux
CROWLEY – Funeral services were held Saturday, April 1, at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church for Randall M. Gautreaux, 46, who died Thursday, March 30, 2006 at his residence.
Father Higginbotham officiated for the services. Burial was held in Woodlawn Cemetery. Visiting hours were observed Friday from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. and on Saturday from 8 a.m. until service time. A rosary was recited Friday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon Gautreaux of Crowley; three sons, Garrett and his wife, Amanda Gautreaux of Crowley; Scott and his wife, Beth of Morgan City; and Jacob Gautreaux of Crowley; one grandchild on the way; one brother, Joey Gautreaux of Crowley; two sisters, Annette Gautreaux of Opelousas and Vicky Breaux of Crowley; his mother, Myrtle Gautreaux of Crowley; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Gautreaux was preceded in death by his father, Vernon Gautreaux; two brothers, Bryan and Anthony Gautreaux; and one sister, Glenda Fontenot.
