CHURCH POINT – Mrs. Roger (Georgia) Stelly, 50, died Friday, August 15, 2003 at lafayette General Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, August 18, 2003 in Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial in Myrtle Grove Cemetery in Opelousas. A rosary will be recited tonight at 7 p.m. in Duhon Funeral Home of Church Point.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. today and 8 a.m. until the time of services Monday.Mrs. Elsie Miller
Funeral services will he held at 11 a.m. Monday, August 18, 2003 in Ardoin Funeral Home Chapel for Mrs. Elsie Miller, 83, who died Saturday at Crowley Guesthouse.
Burial will be in Frey Cemetery with Fr. George Heffner officiating.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. today with a rosary at 7 p.m. tonight.
Survivors include her son, Glenn Miller of Dallas, Tx.; one daughter, Mrs. Barry “Ann” Cart of Iota; three sisters, Ena Fontenot of Ville Platte, Winnie Lalonde of Opelousas, and Mary Foret of Ville Platte; one sister-in-law, Nita Ardoin of Ville Platte, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Langston Sinclair, Sr.
Funeral servives will be held Tuesday, August 19, 2003 at 11 a.m. in St. Theresa Catholic Church for Langston Anthony Sinclair, Sr., 55, who died Wednesday, August 13, 2003 at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Alexandria. Interment will be in South Crowley Cemetery.
A UNited States Marine Corps Serviceman and Vietnam War Veteran (two tours), he was awarded two Purple Hearts during his service. He wa salso a member of the Disabled Veterans of America and Veterans of Foreiugn War.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Ann Houston Sinclair of Crowley; two sons, Isiah Joseph Sinclair of Natchitoches and Langston Anthony Sinclair, Jr. of Crowley; one daughter, Tricia Elaine Sinclair of Crowley; his mother, Alma Moore Sinclair of Crowley; two brothers, Joseph Sinclair, Jr. of Crowley amd Allen Kirk Sinclair of California. One sister, Alma Mary Sinclair. He is also survived by three grandchildren along with a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Sinclair.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 19, 2003 at St. Theresa Catholic Church from 8 a.m. until time of services.

Mavis Lantz Doucet
EVANGELINE- Funeral services will be held for Mavis Lantz Doucet on Sunday, August 17, 2003 at 1 p.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church of Evangeline with Rev. Mark Derise officiating.
A rosary was recited Saturday at 3:30 p.m. by the Catholic Daughters and at 7 p.m. by Rev. Derise. Burial will be in the T-Mamou Cemetery.
Mrs. Doucet died August 14, 2003 at 1:25 p.m. at her son’s residence.
She was a native of Lafayette and a resident of Evangeline. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Altar Society and enjoyed playing Bingo and worked as an Avon representative for 25 years.
Visitation will be today from 8 a.m. until the time of services.
Survivors include seven sons, Aaron Doucet and his wife Genella of Manor, Tx., Robert Doucet and his wife Harriet of Basile, Kenneth Doucet and his wife Ruth of Lake Charles, Harold W. Doucet and his wife Liz of Lake Charles, Henry Doucet and his wife Jan of Culpepper, Va., Kirby Doucet of Austin, Tx., and Leonard Doucet and his wife Becky of Iota; one daughter, Mary Jane Rushing and her husband Gary of Evangeline; her stepmother, Ozea Guidry of Lake Charles; three brothers, Luther Lantz of Lake Charles, Lee Allen Lantz of New Orleans and Ervin Lantz of Moss Bluff; three sisters, Gertie Manuel of Basile, Helen Martin of Georgia and Betty Dean of Michigan; 17 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband Hopson Doucet, her parents, Leonard and Marie Lantz, one brother, Ear Lantz, two sisters Gladys Trahan and Ruby Doega and one grandson, Zane Boudreaux.
The family suggests memorials be sent to Hospice (Odyssey) Home Health in Lake Charles.

Austin Elijah Chaisson
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, 2003 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Crowley for Austin Elijah Chaisson, 15-month-old son of Chad and Tricia Cole Chaisson of Crowley. Father Gary Schexnayder, pastor of St. Michael, will officiate.
Master Chaisson died at 3:52 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, at American Legion Hospital in Crowley.
Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Crowley.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sister, Adiana Chaisson and a brother, Everett Chaisson, both of Crowley; his maternal grandparents, Patty Osborn of Houston and David Cole of Sulphur; his paternal grandparents, Bob and Jane Chaisson of Lafayette; maternal great-grandparents, C.J. and Della Schexnayder of Breaux Bridge and Olivia Cole of Sulphur; and his paternal great-grandmother, Rita Hebert of New Iberia.
Pallbearers will be his Godfather, Joshua Martin, his uncle, Chris Cole, and his grandfathers, Bob Chaisson and C.J. Schexnayder.
Visiting hours will be observed at Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home in Crowley from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. Friday and from 8 a.m. Saturday until the time of the service.
A rosary will be recited at the funeral home Friday at 6:30 p.m.

Mrs. Ivory Dollie
Hoffpauir
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, 2003 at Duhon Funeral Home Chapel in Crowley for Mrs. Ivory Dollie Hoffpauir, 98, of Crowley, who died Tuesday, Aug. 12, at 2:55 p.m. at American Legion Hospital in Crowley.
Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery with Rev. Kennon Geisendorff officiating.
Visitation will be observed Wednesday from noon until 10 p.m. and Thursday from 8 a.m. until the time of the service.
She is survived by one daughter, Betty Evans of Port Barre; four sons, Glynn Hoffpauir of Reddell, Vern Hoffpauir, Clyde Hoffpauir and Bobby Jack Hoffpauir, all of Crowley; 38 grandchildren; 74 great-grandchildren and 42 great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Hoffpauir is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Raymond Hoffpauir; her parents, Rass and Vinney Mitchell Robinson; two sons, J.D. Hoffpauir and Rass Hoffpauir; a daughter, Maxine Lanthier; and four grandchildren, Edward Floyd Hoffpauir, Michael Lanthier, Darrell Thibodeaux and Stephanie Stelly.

CROWLEY – Gloria Duhon Miller, 61, of Dawsonville, Ga. died Monday, Aug. 11, 2003. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 15, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Crowley under the direction of Wages and Sons Gwinnett Chapel, Lawrenceville, Ga.

CHURCH POINT - Aurelle Lavergne, age 67, of Church Point, died Friday, August 1, 2003 at the Acadia St. Landry Hospital in Church Point. Funeral services were held Saturday, August 2 in the Guidry Funeral Home Chapel of Church Point, to whom arrangements had been entrusted.

EUNICE – Elvin Joseph Morein Jr., 48, will be remembered during funeral services Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2003 at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Eunice. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Quirk and Son Funeral Home in Eunice.

CROWLEY – Ms. Viola Geer, 98, died at 2:55 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2003 at American Legion Hospital in Crowley. Funeral services are pending with Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Thesta Morgan Stutes
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Aug. 14, 2003 at 11 a.m. in the Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel for Thesta Morgan Stutes, 88, who died Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2003 at 2:05 a.m. at the Crowley Guest House.
Rev. Jimmy Broussard will officiate for the services. Burial will be in the Ebenezer Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be observed Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 8 a.m. until the time of the funeral services.
Survivors include one daughter, Betty Kinney of Lake Charles; one son, Donnie Stutes and his wife Lou of Crowley; one sister, Almeda Fredericks of Moss Bluff; two brothers, Parker Morgan Jr. of Crowley and Kelly Morgan of Kerrville, Texas; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Stutes was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Stutes; her parents, Parker and Lillian M. Morgan; and a brother, Taze Morgan.
She was a retiree of the Acadia Parish School Board having worked as a lunchroom worker for 25 years.
Pallbearers will be Dwayne Stutes, Damon Stutes, Jeff Fogleman, Shannon Hebert, Justin Fogleman and Jason Stutes.

Gertrude Sellers Broussard
ESTHERWOOD - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2003 at St. Margaret Catholic Church for Gertrude Sellers broussard, 81, who died Sunday, Aug. 10, 2003 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center.
Monsignor Paul Metrejean will officiate for the services with Fr. Rusty Richard, Monsignor Russell Harrington and Fr. Thomas Habetz assisting.
Interment will be in Broussard Mausoleum in the Estherwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Broussard was born Sept. 12, 1921 the daughter of Romuald and Lorina Girouard Sellers, who preceded her in death. Her husband, James B. “J.B.” Broussard and her sister, Helen S. Myers also preceded her in death.
She is survived by six children, Vickie B. Carney and her husband Bill of Baton Rouge, Keith Broussard and his wife Joan of Estherwood, Dianne B. Hoyt and her husband Max of Lafayette, Greg Broussard and his wife Joni of Crowley, Stephen Broussard and his wife Lori of Estherwood, and Monique B. Michot and her husband Mike of Lafayette; two sisters, Sylvia S. Broussard and her husband Ernie of Estherwood and Margaret S. David of Kaplan; one brother-in-law, Don L. Myers of Estherwood; 18 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Mrs. broussard was a retired Acadia Parish school teacher and was active in the American Legion Auxiliary, serving as a member of 8 & 40 and as the Girls’ State Coordinator. She was a Pink Lady at the American Legion Hospital in Crowley and was a member of the Rosary Club and the Ladies Altar Society of St. Margaret Catholic Church.
Visitation may be observed Tuesday from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 8 a.m. until the time of the service.
Rosaries will be recited at 4 p.m. Tuesday by the St. Margaret Ladies Altar Society and the Pink Ladies, and at 7 p.m. by Fr. Rusty Richard.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Brian Broussard, William “Billy” Carney III, Casey Hoyt, Chad Broussard, Spencer Hoyt, Patrick Broussard, Robert “Robbie” Broussard and Gavin Broussard.
Offertory gifts will be presented by her granddaughters, Shawn Rhymes, Keitha Broussard, Dionne Rainey, Kyla Thibodeaux, Erin Carney, Annie Broussard and Mary Carolyn Michot.
The altar servers will be her grandsons, Benjamin Broussard, Connor Broussard and Michael Michot II.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Margaret Catholic Church in Estherwood.

RAYNE – Joseph Clarence Narcisse, 49, of Rayne, died at 3:15 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 10, 2003 at the home of his brother in Duson. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, at the Shrine Our Mother of Mercy in Rayne. Burial will be in St. Benedict Church Cemetery in Duson under the direction of Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne.

CROWLEY – Sidney Joseph Broussard, 72, died Friday, Aug. 8, 2003 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, at St. Theresa Catholic Church. Burial will be in Hanks Cemetery in Morse under the direction of Owens-Thomas Funeral Home of Crowley.

CROWLEY – Mattie Mae Henderson, 93, died at 8:45 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, 2003 at Crowley Guest House. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Monday, ug. 11, at Duhon Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Maxie Cemetery under the direction of Duhon Funeral Home of Crowley.

Ivy Dore
Funeral services are tentatively scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, August 11, 2003 at the Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel in Crowley, La. for Ivy Dore, 87, who died Saturday, August 9, 2003 at the Crowley American Legion Hospital.
Fr. Rusty Richard will officiate for the services.
Interment will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery.
Mr. Dore is survived by four sisters, Lucille Sonnier, Lula M. Dore, and Gladys Dronet, all of Lake Charles and Euna Cameron of Killeen, Tx.; a daughter, Judy Thibodeaux of Crowley; two granddaughters, Dana Guidry of Crowley and Jamie Miller of Rayne; one grandson, Randall Thibodeaux of Duson; and, three great-granddaughters, Shelby Thibodeaux, Kylie Miller and Myra Miller, all of Crowley.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, Leon, Chester, Willis, Eugene and Forest Dore; and, a great-grandson, Aaron Savoie.
Visitation will be observed from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday, and again from 8 a.m. until service time Monday. A rosary will be recited in the funeral home at 6 p.m. on Sunday.

Elaine B. Broussard
RAYNE - Funeral services will be held Sunday Aug. 10,2003 at 2:00 pm in the Gossen Funeral Home Chapel for Elaine B. Broussard, 73, who died Thursday Aug. 7, 2003 at Lafayette General Hospital.
Survivors include three sons Bertel Broussard Jr., Tom Broussard, and Jim Broussard, all of Rayne; one daughter Mary B. Reed of Rayne; two brothers Don Broussard of Ace Texas, and Henry Broussard of New Orleans; eight grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild.
Mrs. Broussard was preceded in death by her husband Bertel Broussard Sr.; her parents Gilbert and Gladys Hines Broussard; and one brother Earl Broussard.
Mrs. Broussard graduated from S.L.I. with a Bachelors degree in elementary education, she taught school in Acadia and Vermillion Parishes. She was a past member of the St. Joseph Choir and the Catholic Daughters. She was a loving mother and grandmother.
Visitation will be Saturday fom 10:00am until 10:00 pm and Sunday from 8:00 am until services . Rosary will be recited Saturday at 7:00 pm.
Burial will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery under the direction of Gossen Funeral home of Rayne.

CHURCH POINT - Mrs. Aline Daigle David, died on Friday, August 8, 2003. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. today, Sunday, August 10 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will be in Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Duhon Funeral Home of Church Point.

CROWLEY - Mr. Cornelius Beverly, 68, of Los Angeles, California, died recently in Los Angeles. Mr. Beverly was a native of Crowley. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 11 at 10 a.m. at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Crowley. Owens-Thomas Funeral Home-Crowley Branch, has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Henry Clemens Habetz
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, August 11, 2003 at St. Leo Catholic Church in Robert’s Cove for Henry Clemens Habetz, 56, of Robert’s Cove. Mr. Habetz died at 4:30 a.m. Friday, August 11 at Crowley Guest House. Con-celebrating the funeral mass will be Fr. Gary Schexnayder and Fr. Francis Bourgeois. Interment will be in St. Leo Cemetery.
Mr. Habetz is survived by a sister, Johanna H. Sittig of Crowley; a brother, Leonard Paul Habetz and a half-sister, Felicitas Cramer, both of Robert’s Cove; two nephews, Kye and Jude Sittig; a niece, Traci Leblanc; three great-nieces, Julia Kathryn and Bailey Anne Sittig and Alexis Elise Leblanc; and, one step-nephew, Nicholas Lane Hoffpauir.
He was preceded in death by his parent, Hendirch Leonard and Josephine Meyer Habetz and his oldest half-sister, Marie C. Habetz.
Visitaion will be observed from 4-8 p.m. Sunday and from 8 a.m. until services Monday. The St. Leo Holy Name Society will recite a rosary at 7 p.m. Sunday.

RAYNE – Augdon Joseph Sinegal, 35, died Sunday, Aug. 3, 2003 at his residence in Detroit, MI. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, at Cunningham CME Church in Rayne. Burial will be at the Rayne Protestant Cemetery under the direction of Owens-Thomas Funeral Home in Crowley.

CROWLEY – Jacqueline Ada Scott, 48, died Wednesday, July 30, 2003 at her residence in Crowley. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, at Owens-Thomas Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at West Crowley Cemetery under the direction of Owens-Thomas Funeral Home in Crowley.

CROWLEY – Howard Payne, 78, died Friday, Aug. 1, 2003 at American Legion Hospital in Crowley. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, at St. Theresa Catholic Church. Burial will be in South Crowley Cemetery under the direction of Owens-Thomas Funeral Home in Crowley.

Mrs. Eumaia Cormier Guidry
MERMENTAU - Funeral services for Mrs. Eumaia Cormier Guidry, 85, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, 2003 in the St. John Evangelist Catholic Church with Revs. Thomas Habetz and Howard Blessing officiating.
Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Jennings.
Funeral home visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until 10 p.m. Wednesday and from 8 a.m. until the time of the services Thursday.
A rosary led by Rev. David Broussard will be recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday evening in the funeral home chapel.
Mrs. Guidry died at 2:45 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2003 in the Abrom Kaplan Memorial Hospital.
A native of Carencro and 65-year resident of Mermentau, Mrs. Guidry was a librarian at the Mermentau Library. She was a member of St. John Evangelist Catholic Church, member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, member of the Ladies Altar Society, and was a CCD teacher.
She is survived by five daughters, Sylvia Dale Boudreaux, Sharon Broussard and Elaine Thibodeaux, all of Morse, Pamela LeLeux of Lyons Point and Becky Ruddell of Longview, Texas; six sons, Harold Lee Guidry, Roger Guidry and Leslie Guidry, all of Mermentau, Melvin Guidry of Jennings, Carroll Guidry of Crowley and Jack Guidry of Bossier City; two sisters, Bessie Hebert of Gueydan and Juanita Fontenot of Lake Charles; two brothers, Percy Cormier of Lake Charles and Dalton Cormier of Oklahoma; 38 grandchildren; 69 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonce and Zelma Istre Cormier; her husband, Harold Guidry; two sons, Roland Guidry and Jessie Guidry; three sisters, Adeline Boudreaux, Eudia Godeaux and Aline Simon; and two brothers, Lennis Cormier and Curtis Cormier.
Pallbearers are Todd Boudreaux, Jessie Guidry Jr., Bobby Guidry, Brad Guidry, Lawrence (Skip) Broussard Jr. and Keith Leleux.
Honorary pallbearers are Chase Ruddell, Zeb Lacombe, Aaron Broussard and Stuart Craig.
Miguez Funeral Home of Jennings is in charge of the arrangements.

CHURCH POINT – Leo B. “Black” Thibodeaux, 92, died Sunday, Aug. 3, 2003 at Maison Deville Nursing Home in Opelousas. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial was in the church cemetery under the direction of Guidry Funeral Home of Church Point.

LEWISBURG – Russel Tweedel, 74, died at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2003. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, at St. Johns Chapel in Lewisburg. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery under the direction of Guidry Funeral Home in Church Point.

CROWLEY – Johnnie Rae Williams, 68, died at 7:45 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2003 at American Legion Hospital in Crowley. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2003 at Duhon Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Rayne Cemetery under the direction of Duhon Funeral Home of Crowley.

ESTHERWOOD – Patrick Leisey, 21, died Thursday, July 31, 2003 at 4 p.m. at American Legion Hospital in Crowley. Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. Monday, Aug. 4, 2003 at Estherwood Cemetery under the direction of Duhon Funeral Home in Crowley.

CROWLEY – Marion Kennair Fachini, 91, died at 11 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 3, 2003 at her residence in Crowley. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, at Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery with Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Stephen Carrol Bradley
EUNICE - Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2003 at Quirk and Son Funeral Home for Stephen Carrol Bradley, 48, who died Monday, Aug. 4, 2003 at his residence in Eunice.
Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Eunice with Rev. Michael Derossier officiating.
Visitation will be observed Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 8 a.m. until the time of the service.
He is survived by his wife, Carlene S. Bradley of Eunice; his parents, Carrol and Bonnie Duplechain Bradley of Eunice; a son, Joshua Bradley of Bossier City; a stepson, Aaron Knight of Crowley; a daughter, Nicole Bradley of Bossier City; a stepdaughter, Jacqueline Munnrly of New Iberia; a sister, Robin Bradley Smith of Eunice; and a ste-granddaughter, Avery Munnerlyn of New Iberia.
He was preceded in death by a son, Jason Bradley.
Mr. Bradley was a retired Master Sergent serving in the United States Air Force. He was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Achoevement Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Air Force Food Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Overseas Long Tour Ribbon, NCO Education Ribbin, Small Arms Expect Marksmanship Ribbon and the Air Force Longevity Service Award.
Quirk and Son Funeral Home i Eunice is in charge of arrangements.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2003 at Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel for Benson Cloud Wilkerson, 24, who died Sunday, Aug. 3, 2003 at Lafayette General Medical Center.
Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery with Rev. Mark Green officiating.
He is survived by two daughters, Haven Cloud Wilkerson and Keyana Winn Wilkerson, both of Crowley; paternal grandfather, Chester Winn Wilkerson of Crowley; his father, Gary Wilkerson and his wife Jodie of Jennings; his mother, Darlene Morgan of Crowley; a sister, Rhonda Wilkerson Breaux of Crowley; a brother, Cord Richardson of Crowley; three stepsisters, Angela James of Crowley, Karla Thomas of Rayne and Teisha Beard of Crowley; and two Godchildren, Tayler Breigh Hanks and Taryn Reigh Breaux.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Dorothy Welch Wilkerson, and maternal grandparents, Harold and Nellie Morgan.
Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Monday until the time of the funeral services on Tuesday.

IOTA - Funeral services for Merlin John Hebert Sr., 57, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2003 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. David Broussard, pastor, officiating. Mr. Hebert died at 3:40 a.m. Monday, Aug. 4, 2003, at his residence in Crowley.
Visiting hours will be observed at Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home in Crowley from 9 a.m. until 10 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday from 8 a.m. until the time of the service.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Monday evening.
Interment will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery in Iota.
He is survived by his wife, Ethel Hebert of Crowley; three sons, Merlin John Hebert Jr. and his wife Mona of Crowley, Kevin Paul Hebert and Michael Keith Hebert, both of Crowley; one daughter, Theresa H. Rollins and her husband Scottie of Lafayette; one brother, Joseph Dale Hebert of Crowley; five sisters, Barbara LeBlanc of Houma, Marjorie Guidry of Rayne, Rose Benoit of Baytown, Texas, Jeanelle Hebert of Baton Rouge and Patricia Ybarra of Baytown, Texas; five grandchildren, Kristin Trahan, Dustin Scott Rollins, Brentni Jade Rollins, Brandon Hebert and Kyser Lee Hebert; and one great-grandchild, Jaylyn Melancon.
Mr. Hebert was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church and was a truck driver for Fielders Trucking and Morgan Trucking Co.

Funeral services for Eunice Fontenot Chachere, 98, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2003 at Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Roger Brown, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Mrs. Chachere died at 5:20 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 3, 2003 at Crowley Guest House.
Visiting hours will be at Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home in Crowley from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday from 8 a.m. until the time of the services.
Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
She is survived by her daughter, Betty Freeland and her husband Barton of Crowley; her son, Robert Russell Chachere Jr. and his wife Nina of Mandeville; 11 grandchildren, Linda Spallino, Keith Wild, Rusty Freeland, Debra Jabusch, Brett, Brad and Kevin Freeland, Mike, Bobby, Chuck and Paul Chachere; 13 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and one son-in-law, Paul Wild of Midland.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Chachere; a daughter, Mrs. Paul Wild; two sisters, Mrs. Winnie Farris and Lillie Mcneil; and three brothers, Morris, Lee and Oswald Fontenot.
Mrs. Chachere was a member of First Baptist Church and worked s a seamstress all of her life at Bowsky’s until her retirement.

INDIAN BAYOU – Delores McDaniel LeBlanc, 56, died at 1:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003 at her residence in Crowley. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Monday, Aug. 4, at Indian Bayou Methodist Church. Burial was in Indian Bayou Methodist Cemetery under the direction of Duhon Funeral Home of Crowley.

CHURCH POINT - Aurelle Lavergne, age 67, of Church Point, died Friday, August 1, 2003 at the Acadia St. Landry Hospital in Church Point. Funeral services were held Saturday, August 2 in the Guidry Funeral Home Chapel of Church Point, to whom arrangements had been entrusted.

Malcolm Ferdinand Kober
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Crowley for Malcolm Ferdinand Kober, 86, who died Thursday, July 31, 2003 at his residence in Crowley.
Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery with Fr. Rusty Richard, Pastor of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, officiating.
Mr. Kober was an usher for Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. He was a member of the U.S. Army where she served during World War II. He was also a member of American Legion Post 15 and the local Knights of Columbus. He retired as a deputy assessor for Acadia Parish and was an avid Atlanta Braves fan. He will be missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Aglise B. Kober of Crowley; two sons, Richard “Dickie” Kober and his wife Thelma of Moss Bluff and Carl “Poogie” Kober and his wife Shirley of Lake Charles; one daughter, Shirley Broussard and her husband Daryl of Crowley; one sister, Melba Meaux of Crowley; 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Mr. Kober was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Viola Youse Kober; three brothers, Alvoid, Lionel and Max Kober; and two sisters, Ethel Guidry and Claire Kober.
Visitation was observed from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and from 8 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday.
A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.

CHURCH POINT – Curley Benoit, 87, died Thursday, July 31, 2003 at Acadia-St. Landry Hospital in Church Point. Funeral services were held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial was in the church cemetery under the direction of Guidry Funeral Home of Church Point.

HOUSTON – Carl Duplechain, 62, formerly of Estherwood, died Wednesday, July 23, 2003 at his home in Houston. A memorial service was held Monday, July 28, 2003 at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Houston.

RAYNE - Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 1, 2003 at Gossen Funeral Home Chapel for Albert Lee Johnston, 75, who died at 1:50 p.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2003 at Groove Garden Care Center in Marshall, Texas.
Burial will be in the Rayne Cemetery with Pastor John White officiating.
Hours of visitation include 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 8 a.m. until the time of the service Friday.
He is survived by a daughter, Melissa Reeves of Marshall, Texas; a brother, William Johnston Jr. of New Orleans; two sisters, Estelle Williams of Corpus Christi, Texas and Barbara Sonnier of Lafayette; a granddaughter, Samantha Reeves of Marshall, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Vernell McBride; parents, William and Celine Johnston; and two brothers, Guy and Harris Johnston.
Mr. Johnston served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a retired health inspector for the State of Louisiana. He was very active in Masonic Lodge in Rayne for 50 years.

TEXAS - Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003 at Maurice’s Catholic Church in Mauriceville, Texas for Allie LeBouff Richard, 78, who died Thursday, July 31, 2003.
Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens with Fr. Delphyn J. Meeks officiating.
Mrs. Richard was a former long-time resident of Crowley and Abbeville before moving to Orange, Texas. She moved to Orange in 1995 to be near her children. In 2000 she moved to Highlands, Texas to live with her youngest daughter and her family.
Hours of visitation are Friday at noon with a wake service at 7 p.m. at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange, Texas.
She is survived by her sister, Stella LeBouff Breaux of Estherwood; four daughters, Dorothy Ann McCarver, Dolores “Jane” LeBlanc and Patsy Louise Junot LeBlanc, all of Mauriceville, Texas and Jessica Marie Granger of Highlands, Texas; 12 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Joseph Richard; mother, Louisa Coleman; father, Oneil LeBouff; sisters, Effie LeBouff Primeaux and Nolia LeBouff Abshire; brother, Ernest LeBouff; and granddaughter, Stephanie Renee Junot.

Rose Mary Fremaux Schlicher
WELSH - Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 1, 2003 at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Welsh for Rose Mary Fremaux Schlicher, 80, who died Tuesday, July 29, 2003 after a brief illness.
Interment will be in Our Lady of Seven Dolors Mausoleum in Welsh.
The Rev. Archimandrite Herbert J. May, of Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church, will be the celebrant of the funeral Mass and will conduct the services.
Mrs. Schlicher was born in Rayne. After graduation from Rayne High School, she attended South Louisiana Institute (SLI) or UL-Lafayette, as it is currently known where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree. After college she married Robert E. “Bob” Schlicher Jr. She began her teaching career in Acadia Parish, but is best remembered as a second grade teacher for many years at Welsh Elementary School in Jefferson Davis Parish. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Mrs. Schlicher was a lifelong member of the Catholic Daughters, Court Stella Maris, where she served as Grand Regent.
She is survived by three sons, Robert E. “Bob” Schlicher III and his wife Sharon of Maurice, Clifton D. “Clif” Schlicher and his wife Laura of New Iberia, and Charles L. “Cholly” Schlicher and his wife Tammy of Crowley; two daughters, Virginia Judith “Judy” Ponder and her husband Billy of Lake Arthur, and Margaret Mary Bond of Crowley; one sister, Virginia “Gin” Soileau of Rayne; and 17 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Schlicher Jr.; her parents, Paul E. Fremaux and Blanche Neely Fremaux; and a brother, E.C. “Charlie” Fremaux.
Pallbearers will be her six grandsons, Robert E. Schlicher IV, Kristofor Schlicher, Jonathan Schlicher, Stephen Mayeaux, Zachary Bond and Charles Schlicher Jr. Honorary pallbearer will be Charles Michael “Mike” Fremaux.
A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
