Robert Wilmer Walters
RAYVILLE - Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 16, 2005 at Brown-Holley Funeral Chapel for Robert Wilmer Walters of Rayville, 77, who died Saturday, August 13, 2005 in Monroe.
Rev. Harold Spiller and Rev. Robert Smith will officiate for the services. Burial will be held in Lynn Cemetery in Archibald.
Mr. Walters was born on December 26, 1927 in Natchez, Miss.
He was a syndicated columnist with B.I. Moody III-owned Louisiana State Newspapers and a DAV member. He was a retired Chief Petty Officer with the Navy.
Survivors include his wife, Deborah Walters of Rayville, his children, Sherry Bernice Craig and husband, Richard of Lexington, Ky., Robert Paul Walters and wife, Doris Ann of Gulfport, Miss., and Stacy Joanne Walters of Ft. Myers, Fla.; five brothers, Alvin J. Walters and wife, Linda of Pollack, William L. Walters and wife, Glenda of Ferriday, Gordon L. Walters and wife, Lynette of Rayville, Grant Walters of Fort Smith, Ark. and James Clary of Natchez, Miss.; four sisters, Betty Hamaker and husband, Luke of Monroe, Alma Jean Halford, Carol Marie McVay and Patsy Tullos; two grandchildren, Angela Robertson and husband, Paul and Hank Smith; one great grandchild, Randy Smith; and a host of nieces and nephew.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Beulah Mae Walters; his parents, Wiley E. Walters and Bernice Cameron Walters; a daughter, Charlotte Ann Walters and a sister, Juanita.
Pallbearers are Dusty Dison, Ronald Strahan, Steve Grey, Gordon Walters, Jr., Robert Paul Walters and Richard Craig. Honorary pallbearers are J.B. Glass, Lane Strahan, Robert Strahan, Carbs Mann and Bobby Collins.
Brown-Holley Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.

RAYNE – Edith Wyatt, 95, died Monday, August 8 at Acadia-St. Landry Hospital at her residence in Branch. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 10 at the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Rayne Cemetery under the direction of Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne.

RAYNE – Kenneth Carrier, 55, died Monday, August 8 at his residence in Richard. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 10 at the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery #2 under the direction of Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne.

Matthew P. Heinen
RAYNE – Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 18 at a Mass of Christian burial at St. Leo Catholic Church in Roberts Cove for Matthew Paul Heinen, 35, who died Monday, August 8, 2005 from an automobile accident.
Interment will be in St. Leo Cemetery in Roberts Cove. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Visiting hours will be observed Wednesday from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. and Thursday from 8 a.m. until service time.
In passing he is leaving his two children, Kourey Paul Heinen and Kourtlyn Renee Heinen, both of Roberts Cove; his companion, Aline Steahle; the mother of his children, Christy Slatton of Lafayette; his parents, John A. and Jeanette Prather Heinen Jr. of Roberts Cove; two brothers, Phillip Michael Heinen and wife Sandra of Roberts Cove and Lawrence Blane Heinen and wife Toni of Lafayette; two sisters, Zeblyn Marie Heinen of Roberts Cove and Elizabeth Clare Heinen Walker and husband Craig of Roberts Cove; his nieces and nephews, Hunter, Skylar, Heath, Brittany, Malori, Connor and Caitlin.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Heinen; his maternal grandparents, John and Jeanette Prather and his paternal grandparents, John A. and Gert Heinen Sr.
Matt had a love of life that was surpassed only by his love for his two children Kourey and Kourtlyn. He was an avid pilot with a passion for flying and aircraft. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, with a love for the outdoors that he passed on to his children. Fall Sunday afternoons were reserved for his favorite team the New Orleans Saints. He is loved and will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all who knew and worked with him.

Jane “Sis” B. Chaillot
CROWLEY – Jane Alice "Sis" Bernard Chaillot, 73, died peacefully at home at 3:20 p.m. Saturday, August 6 in Lafayette, surrounded and embraced by family and friends and following a lengthy illness.
She was born April 10, 1932 in rural Vermilion Parish to Lillian Broussard and Joseph Essie Bernard.
Visitation and a memorial will be held at Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home in Crowley Tuesday, August 9 with visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. and a memorial to follow from 7 to 8 p.m.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Acadiana or a favorite library, school, or church.
Sis was an active, outgoing participant in every community in which she lived.
She was elected "Friendliest," "Most likely to Succeed" and "Lady of CHS" (Crowley High School) in her senior year of 1950, the latter being the top accolade that could be given by her fellow students.
Sis served as CHS Student Council president, yearbook editor and head majorette of the Fighting Gentlemen Marching Band, among many other activities throughout her schoolgirl days.
As a runner-up for Miss Crowley in 1950, Sis was the city's visiting princess to the Yambilee Festival in Opelousas that fall. She represented CHS at Louisiana Girls' State in 1949, where she won an award for being an outstanding athlete.
Sis married professional baseball player Emile Chaillot in the fall of 1950 and the raising of her eight children became the center of her life, as she took great joy in her four girls and four boys as they were growing up in the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s and 1980s.
Sis loved her work as a librarian at St. Michael's Elementary, Notre Dame High School and at The Center for Louisiana Studies in UL's Dupre Library.
She was cited for her research and assistance by CLS Director Glen Conrad and Assistant Director Carl Brasseaux in the acknowledgments to the 1988 publication "The Dictionary of Louisiana Biography."
Sis served her community as president of the Crowley Solitic Club, was active at St. Michael's and Notre Dame schools, the Crowley Town Club, Abbeville's Abbey Theater and Crowley's Little Theatre.
She was not only a devoted bridge player but also enjoyed the card games Five Hundred, Bourre and Casino with friends and family.
In addition, Sis enjoyed dancing, reading, travel (especially her European, Australian and Canadian adventures), crossword puzzles, movies (especially Katherine Hepburn's), sewing, cooking and many other types of activities with friends and relatives that, over her lifetime, included her great grandparents, grandparents, parents, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Later in her life she became a Hospice volunteer and was more active in churches in Crowley and Abbeville, serving in altar societies.
Sis will be remembered for her friendly, loyal, outgoing personality, "canaille" sense of humor, ready smile and quick wit, tomboyish athleticism, natural beauty and willingness to give tirelessly of her time and effort to causes she loved.
Survivors include her former husband, Emile Chaillot of Crowley; her eight children, Suzanne Chaillot Breaux and Jacqueline Chaillot Hanisee of Lafayette, Michelle Chaillot of Steamboat Springs, Colo., John Chaillot of New Orleans, Jane Claire Chaillot Tedeschi of Sydney, Australia, David Chaillot of Crowley, Bernard Chaillot of Abbeville and Joseph Chaillot of Portland, Ore.; her grandchildren, Alex Chaillot, Dominick Chaillot, Naomi Chaillot, Simon Hanisee, Sam Breaux, Christopher Chaillot, Madeline Tedeschi and Harry Tedeschi and great grandson, Sebastian Chaillot and brother Ray Bernard of Woodstock, Ga., several nieces and nephews, cousins, special friends and a pet Australian Shepherd, Beeper.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two infant daughters.

Olivia P. Bourque
CROWLEY – Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Monday, August 8 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church for Olivia Primeaux Bourque, 74, who died August 7, 2005 at her residence in Crowley.
Fr. Matthew Higginbotham officiated the services. Interment was in Abshire Cemetery.
Mrs. Bourque is survived by her husband, Pierre Bourque of Crowley; one son, Raymond Bourque and his wife Roxane of Crowley; three daughters, Gloria Kibodeaux of Carencro, Linda Mathews and her husband Onephor Jr. of Crowley and Cindy Monceaux and her husband Tim of Crowley; 12 grandchildren, Sonia, Claudia and Kathy Kibodeaux, Ricky Jr., Jared, Monica, Nicky and Camisha Bourque, Russell Jr. and Scott Breaux, Rhiannon Monceaux and Kristy Mathews; 16 great grandchildren; two brothers, John and Paul Primeaux, both of Crowley; five sisters, Orillia Richard of Lyons Point, Agnes Mire of Crowley, Mercedes Mire of Crowley, Oliva Evans of Moss Bluff and Rosa Guidry of Jennings and a special friend, Gwyn Everett Cormier.
She is preceded in death by two sons, Ricky Lane Alex Bourque Sr. and Wildes Pierre Bourque; her parents, Dulva and Artemise Hanks Primeaux; three brothers, Aurelian, Valerien and Adam Primeaux; one sister, Ida Primeaux and one great grandson Lil J. Comeaux.
Visitation was observed Sunday from 6 p.m. to the time of service on Monday at Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home in Crowley.
The family would like to thank Patty Guidry of Hospice of Acadiana.

Edna L. Nolan
CROWLEY – Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 9 at 2 p.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church for Edna L. Nolan, 66, who died Monday, August 8 at the American Legion Hospital.
Father Francis Bourgeois will officiate for the services. Burial will be in Woodlawn Mausoleum. Visiting hours will be observed Tuesday from 8 a.m. until service time. A rosary was recited Monday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Survivors include her husband, Hilman Nolan Sr. of Branch; two sons, Hilman Nolan Jr. of Duson and Patrick Nolan of Lafayette; one daughter, Angela Hutchinson of Fairfield, Texas; three sisters, Helen Quebodeaux of Morse, Lorraine Fuselier of Church Point and Irene Pousson of Iota and three grandchildren, Rachel Nolan, Alyssa Guidry and Hunter Hutchinson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Edna Prather LeBouef and one sister, Annie Foreman.
She retired from South Central Bell Telephone Company after 18 years of service. She was a life long resident of Branch for 30 years and a member of the St. Edmond Catholic Church. She was also a member of the Mowata Adoration.

Elizabeth Griffin
DERIDDER – Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 7 at 2 p.m. at the DeRidder Seventh Day Adventists for Elizabeth “Lis” Griffin, 59, who died Thursday, August 4, 2005 at Beauregard Memorial Hospital in DeRidder.
Pastor Jerry Fletcher will officiate for the services. Burial will be in the Maxie Cemetery in Maixe.
She was born in Crowley, was a graduate of Crowley High School and the University of Southwestern Louisiana. She was a member of the DeRidder Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Dr. Thomas E. Griffin, III of DeRidder; two sons, John Thomas Griffin of DeRidder and Emil Paul Griffin of Pitkin; one sister, Patricia Griffith of Lafayette; her mother, Ella Marie Taylor of Maxie and three grandchildren.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder.

IOTA – Timothy Mark Reed, 55, died Friday, August 5, 2005 at St. Patrick Hospital in Lake Charles. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 12, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home in Iota is in charge of arrangements.

CHURCH POINT – Nedia Leleux, 81, died Wednesday, August 3, 2005 at Doctor’s Hospital in Opelousas. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 6 at Duhon Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the New Church Cemetery in Church Point under the direction of Duhon Funeral Home.

RAYNE – Andrea Badeaux Hebert, 72, died Thursday, August 4 at her residence in Branch. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 6 at St. Leo Catholic Church in Roberts Cove. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery #2 under the direction of Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne.

Annis C. Richard
CROWLEY – Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 3 at 2 p.m. at Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church in Lyons Point for Annis Cormier Richard, 88, who died Monday, August 1, 2005 at her residence in Crowley.
Fr. Donald Pousson, pastor of Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial. The burial will be held in Hanks cemetery in Morse.
Visitation began at 3 p.m. Tuesday and will continue until time of services on Wednesday. The rosary was led by Deacon Rodless Leleux, Tuesday at 7 p.m.
Mrs. Annis was a resident of Lyons Point and she was married to the late Henry L. Richard. She was a member of Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church. She was also a member of the Ladies Altar society.
She is survived by two daughters, Elta Rose Istre and her husband Curnel of Crowley; Ella Jane Campbell and her husband Vernis of Kaplan; three sons, Floyd John Richard and his wife Elaine of Orange, Texas, Lee Ray Richard and his wife Margaret of Crowley and Alvin R. Richard and his wife Annette of Crowley; 16 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lezia and Agnes Cormier, her husband; one daughter, Ida Marie Richard; two sisters, Domotile Breaux and Annie Leleux and one brother, Polite Cormier.

Ronald L. Hanks
IOTA – Funeral services were held Saturday, July 30 at 11 a.m. at Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel, Iota for Ronald Lee Hanks, 58, who died Wednesday, July 27, 2005 at Lafayette General Medical Center.
Fr. David Broussard, pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church, will officiate for the services. Visiting hours were observed Friday from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to service time. A rosary was recited Friday at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Survivors include one daughter, Germaine H. Bourque of Baldwin; his mother, Helen L. Hanks of Egan; his fiancée, Lorraine Trahan of Scott; two brothers, J. C. Hanks of Covington and Warren Hanks of Corydon, Ind.; two grandchildren, Apryl and Dylan Bourque, both of Baldwin.
Mr. Hanks was a veteran of the United States Army having served his country during the Vietnam War. He was a native of Egan and a resident of Lake Arthur. He was a commercial fisherman in the local area in the 1980’s and 1990’s on his beloved, "Captain Ron." At the time of his death, he was employed by Universal Equipment Co. and owned and operated Capt. Ron’s Welding Service.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Hanks; two brothers, Rufus and C. D. Hanks.
Arrangements were entrusted to Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home of Iota.

CHURCH POINT – James Douglas Reed, 53, died Monday, August 1, 2005 at Acadia-St. Landry Hospital in Church Point. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 2 at Guidry Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Msgr. C.A. Bienvenu Cemetery under the direction of Guidry Funeral Home of Church Point.

CHURCH POINT – Ezola Briscoe Lavergne, 94, died July 31, 2005 at Doctors Hospital in Opelousas. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 3 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Guidry Funeral Home of Church Point.
