From September of 1942 until August of 1945, he was stationed overseas in Cheltenham, England and Reims, France as Staff Sergeant with the United States Army Printing Plant. While stationed in England in January of 1943, he met Mary Stritch and they were married on June 29, 1945.
Following his honorable discharge, he was employed as a linotype operator at the Abbeville Meridional, the Tribune Printing Plant, the Lafayette Daily Advertiser, and the Crowley Daily Signal. In 1950, he founded Glady printing, Inc., which he operated until his retirement in 1987.
