The
Rev. Joseph
Edward Bourg
LAFAYETTE - A Mass of Resurrection will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday,
June 12, at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist for the Rev. Joseph
Edward Bourg, 80, who died Monday, June 9, 2003, at Consolata Nursing
Home in New Iberia.
Bishop Michael Jarrell of the Diocese of Lafayette will be the main
celebrant of the Mass, with other diocesan clergy concelebrating. Burial
will be in St. John Cemetery.
Rev. Bourg was preceded in death by his parents, Whitney Bourg Sr. and
Theresa Dupont Bourg; one brother, Whitney Bourg Jr.; and two sisters,
Estelle Lymon and Margaret Jumonville.
He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 11, at Martin and
Castille Funeral Home. A prayer service will be conducted beginning
at 7 p.m. Visitation continues at the funeral home from 9 a.m. to noon
Thursday and at the Cathedral from 12:30 until 3 p.m.
Rev. Bourg was born in the community of Ebenezer, south of Rayne in
the heart of rice farming country. At the age of 13, he entered St.
Benedicts Seminary at Covington. From there he went on to graduate
from Notre Dame Seminary in New Orleans.
He was ordained to the priesthood in the Cathedral of St. John on May
22, 1948.
Most of Rev. Bourgs priestly life was spent working with the poor
and with minorities. In an interview with the diocesan newspaper in
1998, he said, During the struggle for civil rights in this country,
I saw clearly the need for the Church to lead the way in desegregating
the altar.
Rev. Bourg has served at Our Lady of the Lake in Lake Arthur; Holy Rosary/Cabrini
in Kaplan; St. Patrick and St. Anthony in Lafayette; Sacred Heart in
Oakdale/Elizabeth; Our Lake of the Lake in Delcambre; Assumption in
Mire; and Assumption in Carencro.
He retired in 1995 because of health.
Nola
Manuel Fuselier
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 10, at Duhon Funeral
Home Chapel in Crowley for Nola Manuel Fuselier, 97, of Crowley who
died at 3:27 a.m. Sunday, June 8, 2003 at American Legion Hospital in
Crowley.
Burial will be in Ashford Cemetery in Basile.
A rosary was said at 7 p.m. Monday evening.
Visitation hours included Monday from 1 p.m. until 10 p.m. and Tuesday
beginning at 8 a.m. until the time of the service.
Survivors include three daughters, Grada Morgan of Crowley, Geneva Perez
of Mablewood and Lou Anna Boudreaux of Baker; 11 grandchildren and 16
great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Curley Fuselier, and her parents
and siblings.

Adam
LYONS POINT - Funeral services will be held Monday, June 9, 2003, at
11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church for Camile Adam, 85,
who died on Saturday, June 7, 2003 at his residence.
The visitation will be observed on Sunday, June 8 from 2-9 p.m., and
on Monday, June 9 from 8 a.m. until service time. A rosary will be recited
on Sunday evening at 7 p.m.
Burial will be in the St. John the Baptist Cemetery.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Hilda Lemaire Adam;
two daughters, Marilyn Adams of Lafayette and Elizabeth Langlinais and
her husband, Richard, of Leleux, La.; one son, Russell Adam and his
wife, Ann, of Crowley; eight grandchildren, Laura LeBeouf and her husband,
Brett, Roxanne Touchet and her husband, Darrin, Ginger Adam, Todd Adam
and his wife Jennifer, Claire Blanchard and her husband, Brian, Sarah
Adam, Adam-Paul Langlinais and Marcelle Adam, along with six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alcide and Elizabeth Adam;
two brothers, Francois and Preston Adam; and, one son-in-law, Charles
Hebert.
A retired rice farmer, cattleman and businessman, Mr. Adam served as
Chairman of the Department of Public Welfare under Governor John McKeithen
and was a past Chairman of Louisiana Bank. He was a lifetime honorary
member of the Knights of Columbus and the Boy Scouts of America, Acadiana
Chapter. He was also a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church
and a generous supporter of both his church and area Catholic schools.
Pallbearers will be Todd Adam, Adam-Paul Langlinais, Darrin Touchet,
Brett LeBeouf, Lloyd Guidry and Marcus Leleux. Honorary pallbearers
will be his six granddaughters, Laura Lebeouf, Roxanne Touchet, Ginger
Adam, Claire Blanchard, Sarah Adam and Marcelle Adam.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to any area
Catholic school or to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston Street, Suite
200, Lafayette, La. 70503.

KAPLAN - Funeral services will be held Monday, June 9, 2003, at 3 p.m.
at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church for Laura Bourque Hebert, 106,
who died at 8;15 a.m. on Friday, June 6, 2003 at the Abrom Kaplan Memorial
Hosptial.
Rev. Albert G. Nunez will officiate for the services. The visitation
will be observed on Sunday, June 8 from 10 a.m. -10 p.m., and on Monday,
June 9, from 10 a.m. until service time. A rosary will be recited Sunday
evening at 7 p.m.
Burial will be in the Kaplan Cemetery.
Survivors include one son, Roland Hebert of Kaplan; five daughters,
Emma Savoy of Kaplan, Leona Rider of Porter, Texas, Grace Cormier of
Abbeville, Alice Rigsby of Lake Charles and Ruby Richard of Crowley;
three sisters, Odile Trahan of Sulphur, Agnes Hargrave of Kaplan and
Aline Cinee Broussard of Kaplan; 40 grandchildren, 75 great-grandchildren
and 34 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raphael Hebert; four children,
Wilmer Brad Hebert, Wilber Brod Hebert, Louise Stelly and Raymond Hebert;
her parents, Joe Bourque and the former Edith David; two sisters, Olite
Lee and Elise Bourque; and, one brother, Louis Bourque.
Mrs. Hebert was a member of the Ladies Altar Society, the Catholic Daughters
and the Third Order of Mount Carmel.

CHURCH
POINT - Lionel Seaux, 70, of Lafayette, died at 4:45 A.M. on
Friday, June 6, 2003 at his residence. Funeral services were held at
1 p.m. on Saturday, June 7 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic
Church. Burial was in the Sacred Heart Mausoleum.

GUEYDAN - Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 8, 2003 at 2
p.m. at the First United Methodist Church for Frank Darrell Sarver,
63, of Gueydan, who died on Friday, June 6 at 6:30 p.m. at Lafayette
General Hospital.
Rev. Doyle Volentine will officiate for the services. Visitation will
be held on Saturday, June 7, from 2:30 - 9 p.m., and on Sunday from
8 a.m. until service time.Burial will be in the Gueydan Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Ann. W. Sarver of Gueydan; one son,
Kevin Dale Sarver and his wife Cindy of Youngsville; two daughters,
Melanie Dawn Sarver of Gueydan and Christine Armour and her husband
John of Memphis, Tn; his mother, Mrs. Wilmer (Stella Belle) Sarver of
Gueydan; one sister, Linda S. Hair of Gueydan; and, four grandchildren,
Anna Katherine and Caroline Armour and Carli and Marcus Shannon.
He was preceded in death by his father, Wilmer Francis Sarver.
Pallbearers will be John Armour, Marion Edwards, Troy Hair, Dinney Sarver,
Stephen Stefanski and Wayne Zaunbrecher.

Ovide E. Boudreaux, 88, Rayne native and resident of Brunswick,
Ga., will be laid to rest at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 7, 2003 during funeral
services at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will be in the church

Chambers Mayeux
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, June 7, at St.
Michael Catholic Church in Crowley for Charlotte Chambers Mayeux, 71,
who died Thursday, June 5, 2003, at Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center
in Lafayette.
Fr. Gary Schexnayder, pastor, will officiate for the services. A rosary
will be recited at 7 p.m. Friday evening. Burial will be in Woodlawn
Cemetery.
Visitation will be observed Friday from noon to 10 p.m. and Saturday
from 8 a.m. until the time of the services.
She is survived by her husband, Louis Mayeux Sr. of Crowley; two sons,
Louis (Buddy) J. Mayeux Jr. and his wife Mari of Crowley and Charles
M. Mayeux and his wife Anna of Cottonport; five daughters, Michelle
Leger and her husband Mitchell of Crowley, Andree Brown and her husband
Mark (Boz) Brown of Crowley, Jeanne Schmid and her husband Kurt of Crowley,
Yvette Hoffpauir and her husband Harrell of Crowley and Claire Kelbaugh
and her husband Keeffer of New Orleans; 24 grandchildren; one sister,
Shirley Cassidy of Jennings; and one brother, Noble Chambers of Crowley.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Noble and Anna Chambers.
She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church and was recently chosen
as an Outstanding Volunteer for the American Cancer Society.

TEE MAMOU - Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 3,
at St. Jules Catholic Church in Tee-Mamou for Lucy Klumpp Guillory,
96, who died Sunday, June 1, 2003 at the Jeff Davis Assisted Living
Center in Jennings.
Fr. David Broussard will officiate for the services. A rosary was recited
at 7 p.m. Monday evening.
Burial will be in Reed Cemetery.
Visitation was observed Monday from 3 to 10 p.m. and Tuesday from 8
a.m. until the time of the service.
She is survived by a daughter, Gale Hebert and her husband Terry of
Tee Mamou; one son, Michael Guillory of Lake Charles; three sisters,
Marie Fish of Houston and Cleo Leger and June Wood, both of Tee Mamou;
six granddaughters, Karen Wimberly and her husband Danny of Tee Mamou,
Faye Brasseaux and her husband Roger of Tee Mamou, Rhonda Legros and
her husband Donnie of Tee Mamou, Nanette Roy and her husband Adam of
Iota, Lisa Benoit and her husband Farley of Iota, and Shelly Cormier
and her husband Shane of Lake Charles; 16 great-grandchildren and two
great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Guillory is preceded in death by her husband, Murphy Guillory;
her parents, Joseph and Angeline Hebert Klumpp; three brothers, D.E.,
Roman and J.C. Klumpp; ad two sisters, Niki Francois and Laura Hoffpauir.
Pallbearers are Danny Wimberly, Roger Brasseaux, Derrick Legros, Adam
Roy, Farley Benoit and Shane Cormier.

Lucy F. Gott, 76, died at 8 p.m. Saturday, May 31, 2003
at Jennings American Legion Hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m.

Eliza Nixon Nolan
OAK RIDGE - Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning, June 3, 2003
at 11 a.m. at Oak Ridge Methodist Church for Mildred Eliza Nixon Nolan,
98, of Oak Ridge, Crowley native, who died Saturday, May 31, 2003 in
Shreveport.
Officiating will be Rev. William Peoples, District Superintendent Shreveport
District, assisted by Rev. Marie Williams, District Superintendent Monroe
District.
Burial will be in Oak Ridge Baptist Cemetery in Oak Ridge.
Visitation is Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Mulhearn Funeral Home of Rayville.
She is survived by a son, Rev. William Earl Nolan and his wife Janet
of Shreveport, and grandchildren, William Walter Nolan, John Charles
Nolan, Julie Nolan Loker and Joseph Lowell Nolan.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William McKinley Nolan; two
sons, John Travis Nolan and Charles Henry Nolan; a sister, Dorothy Younce,
and a brother, Larry Nixon.
Mrs. Nolan was a retired school teacher with the Morehouse Parish School
System. She was the first woman member on the Council of Ministries
Louisiana Methodist Conference where she served as chairperson for Archives
and History. She was also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and the Daughters
of the American Revolution. She wrote 17 feature articles for the Bastrop
Enterprise on Methodism in Northeast Louisiana and edited several books
on history. Her father, John T. Nixon was editor for the Crowley Daily
Signal and started the Monroe Evening News with partner Julius Cheney
in 1893.
Her mother, Leola White Nixon was an educator in mathematics and at
one time was a principal of Oak Ridge School. Mrs. Nolan followed that
legacy left by her parents.
Memorials may be made to the Oak Ridge Methodist Church or the Archives
of Centenary Colloge.

Mrs. Lula Mae Guidry, 70, died at 10:10 p.m. Saturday,
May 31, 2003 at Vermilion Health Care Nursing Home in Kaplan. Funeral
services were held at 4 p.m. Sunday, June 1, at Duhon Funeral Home Chapel
in Crowley. Burial will be in Cassinade Cemetery in Kaplan under the
direction of Duhon Funeral Home of Crowley.
RAYNE
Timothy (Timmy) Miller, 43, died at 5:29 p.m. Thursday,
May 29, 2003 at his home in Broussard. Funeral services will be held
at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 1, at Duhon Funeral Home in Rayne. Burial will
be in St. Joseph Cemetery #2 under the direction of Duhon Funeral of
Rayne.

Michael the Archangel Catholic Church for Ovey Trahan, 87, who died
Friday, May 30, 2003 at Crowley American Legion Hospital.

will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be observed from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday and from
7 a.m. until the time of the service Monday.

Survivors include one daughter, Rita T. Deville of Crowley; one son,
Buford Trahan of Crowley; two sisters, Lillian T. Racca of Crowley and
Nedia T. Guidry of Bell City; two brothers, Ophelias Trahan and Wilson
Trahan, both of Crowley; 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and
one great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Amant H. Trahan; his parents,
Darius and Edna L. Trahan; two grandsons, Robert and Michael Deville;
one sister, Zulmae Roy, and one son-in-law, Norris Sam Deville.

the Archangel Catholic Church for Lora J. Poor Boy Pastor,
76, who died Friday, May 30, 2003 at 5:35 p.m. at his residence in Crowley.
Fr. Gary Schexnayder, pastor, will officiate for the services. Entombment
will be in Woodlawn Mausoleum.
Visitation will be observed Sunday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Monday
from 8 a.m. until the time of the service.
Rosaries will be recited Sunday at 2 p.m. by the Knights of Columbus
Council 5499 and at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Sonnier Pastor of Crowley; three daughters,
Pearl P. Reynolds and her husband Robert of Crowley, Susan P. Guidry
and her husband Chuck of Crowley and Elaine Pastor Stelly of Crowley;
five sons, Michael Pastor and his wife Alice of Crowley, Julian Pastor
of Rayne, John Wayne Pastor of New Orleans, Chris Pastor and his wife
Patricia of Crowley, and Lora J. Pastor Jr. and his wife Tricia of Rayne;
three sisters, Jean Hanks and Earline Spell of Crowley and Linda Greenman
of Raleigh, N.C.; three brothers, Daniel Pastor of Vermont and Robert
Pastor and John Pastor, both of Crowley; 20 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Mr. Pastor was preceded in death by one son, Donald Pastor; his parents,
Lumay J. Pastor Sr. and Ernestine LaBorde Pastor, and one brother, Anthony
Buster Pastor.
He was a veteran of World War II having served his country in the United
States Army. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 5499,
VFW Post 6720, and American Legion Post 15 of Crowley. He was a recipient
of the United Blood Services Diamond Donor Award.
He owned and operated Poor Boys Grocery Store for over 35
years having a love for shrimping and the sale of fresh seafood.
Pall bearers will be his five sons, Michael, Julian, John Wayne, Chris
and Lora Jr., with the memory of his deceased son, Donald, being remembered
as the sixth pall bearer.

POINT Mrs. Gervais Lyons, nee Leola Richard, 84, died
at 4:45 a.m. Saturday, May 31, 2003. Funeral services will be held at
10 a.m. Monday, June 2, at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Guidry
Funeral Home of Church Point.

Paige Stutes
Funeral services for Laila Paige Stutes, 5 months, will be held Sunday,
June 1, at 1:30 p.m. at Duhon Funeral Home Chapel in Crowley with Fr.
Donald Pousson officiating.
She died at 4:36 a.m. Friday, May 30, 2003 at Oschner Clinic Foundation
in New Orleans.
Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Rayne.
Visitation will be observed Saturday from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. and
Sunday from 8 a.m. until the time of the service.
Survivors include her parents, Jeremy Stutes and Katie Hebert of Morse;
paternal grandparents, Gail Thibodeaux of Estherwood and Patrick Stutes
of Rayne; maternal grandparents, Stephanie (Sis) Hebert and John Hebert
of Morse; great paternal grandparents, Bernice Stutes and Mr. and Mrs.
Freddie Stelly Sr. of Duson; and great maternal grandparents, Allen
and Jeanette Stutes of Crowley.
She is preceded in death by her great grandparents, Louis Stutes and
Mr. and Mrs. John J. Hebert.
Pall bearers are Wesley Hebert, Corey Stutes, Eric Stutes and Jude Rice.
Honorary pall bearer is Marcus Roy.
