Tony Warren Manuel
IOTA - Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 1, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iota for Tony Warren Manuel, 50, who died Friday, June 28, 2002 at his residence.
Visitation can be observed Sunday at 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Monday from 8 a.m. until the time of the service. Fr. David Broussard will officiate the services.
A rosary will be recite at 7 p.m. Sunday at Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home in Iota. Burial will be in Frey Cemetery in Mowata.
Manuel is survived by his wife, Anne Frey Manuel of Iota; one daughter, Melanie Broussard and her husband Shawn of Iota; his parents, Oney and Flo Trahan Manuel of Iota; one brother, Brady Manuel and his wife Brenda of Iota; three sisters, Carolyn Simar and her husband David of Iota, Charlotte Frey and her husband Ralph of Mowata, and Kayla LaFosse and her husband Rod of Iota; his mother and father-in-law, Sylvester and Helen Frey of Iota; brothers and sister-in-law, Francis and Germaine Frey of Iota, Gerard Frey and Dana Clements of Iota, Gilbert Frey, and Gus Berzara, both of Iota; his Godparents, Elouise Freyou and Wardell Trahan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by a nephew, Winston Frey; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Cortez Manuel; and maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Trahan Sr.
Manuel is a 1969 graduate of Notre Dame High School and worked in the oil field business for 30 years where he was always a devoted worker. He was employed by Flow Petroleum until his death.
He loved his family very much and will be greatly missed.
Pallbearers are his three Godsons, Derek Frey, Brendon LaFosse and Bryan Simar, his brother, Brady Manuel, his friend, Quillan Bertrand, and his brother-in-law, Francis Frey.
Honorary pallbearers are his Goddaughters, Donna Sue Moe and Alicia Frey; son-in-law, Shawn Broussard; brothers-in-law, Gerard Frey, Gilbert Frey, Rod LaFosse, Ralph Frey and David Simar; nephews, Aaron Frey, Jason Manuel, Jason Frey, Brandon Frey, Blaise Frey and Zachary LaFosse, and a friend, Gus Bezara.
Paticipating in the funeral service is Charlotte Frey and Sr. Agnes Thevis as Eucharistic Ministers. Giftbearers are Carolyn Simar, Kayla LaFosse and Emily LaFosse, and Readers are Monica Cormier, Shara Belair, Lynette Simar, Jessica LaFosse, Lynette Nickel amd Jessica LaFosse.
Altar servers are Jason Frey and Brandon Frey. Memorial candles will be given in honor of the deceased family members by Germaine Frey, Brenda Manuel and Dana Clements.
A eulogy will be given by Gerard Frey, and choir members are Sandra Ritter, Joe Stemplewski and Monica LeJeune.

CHURCH POINT – Mrs. Lloyd Cormier, 84, (Verlie Higginbotham), died Thursday, June 27, 2002 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette. Funeral services were held Saturday, June 29, at 2 p.m. at Guidry Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Bellevue Memorial Cemetery in Opelousas with Guidry Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Joseph ‘Tony’ Monceaux
Joseph “Tony” Monceaux, 68, originally of Crowley, died on June 3, 2002 in St. Petersburg, Fla.
Interment will be in Abshire Cemetery during a private family ceremony.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Monceaux of St. Petersburg; one son, Tony Monceaux of St. Petersburg; one brother, Mervin Monceaux of Crowley; his mother, Orelia Guidry of Crowley; and three sisters, Lucille Marecek of Corliss, Helen Warren and Ruby Boudreaux, both of Cameron.

Joseph L. Thomas Sr.
LAWTELL - Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 1 at Holy Family Catholic Church for Joseph L. Thomas Sr., 75, who died Monday, June 24, 2002 at American Legion Hospital in Crowley.
Burial will be in the church cemetery with Fr. Denis A. Osuagwn officiating.
Wake services will be held Sunday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Owens-Thomas Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Monday from 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral at Holy Family Catholic Church.
Survivors include Deanna Andrus of Crowley, Mary Wheeler of Swords, Della Solomon of Crowley and Brenda Drake of Crowley; six sons, Lloyd A. Rodney Lee Yokum
BRANCH - Funeral services for Rodney Lee Yokum are scheduled for Saturday, June 29, at 11 a.m. at Maryland Chapel C.M.E. Church.
Yokum is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph “Wash” Yokum and Virginia “Peggy” Yokum of Branch.
Viewing of the deceased will precede funeral services at the same location from 9 a.m. until 10:55 a.m.
Yokum died on Friday, June 21, 2002 after a lengthy illness in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Lafayette. In addition to his parents, he is survived by Mattie Citizen, his companion; one son, Travis Sentell Citizen; three sisters and their spouses, Dolores Batiste (Walter Batiste Jr.) of Los Angeles, Calif., Geneva Jones and Ronnie Faye Taylor (Sheffield Taylor I) of Lafayette; three daughters he loved like his own, Priscilla, Lisa and Jenetta Citizen of Church Point; and one son and daughter-in-law he loved like his own, Joseph Edward and Shonna Citizen; 13 grandchildren and two great grandchildren he loved as his own; one uncle, West Young Sr. (Irella); two aunts, Philla Mae Larry and Mary Jane Fontenot (also Godmother) all of Beaumont, Texas; his Godfather, Willis Prejean Sr. of Beaumont, Texas; one devoted Goddaughter, Faith Danielle Gibson of Rayne, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, as well as brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law he considered his own.
Yokum operated and owned a small concrete business prior to his disabling illness.
Interment will be in the Branch Methodist Cemetery.

CROWLEY – Sid Wilson Jr., 65, died Friday, June 21, 2002 at Bayou Village Nursing Home in Crowley. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, June 29, at St. Theresa Catholic Church. Burial will be in the South Crowley Cemetery under the direction of Owens-Thomas Funeral Home.

Mary Jane Minix
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 29, at Israelite Baptist Church for Mrs. Mary Jane Minix, 77, who died Tuesday, June 25, 2002, in Crowley.
The Rev. Ivan J. Lewis will officiate for the service. Burial will be in the West Crowley Cemetery.
Wake services will be held Saturday, June 29, from 7 a.m. until the time of services.
Survivors include two sons, Ronald J. Minix and his wife Mary Ann, and Percy L. Minix and his wife Tymeka, all of Crowley; five daughters, Mary Grace, Shirley Carmouche and her husband Walter, Pearlia Antoin and her husband Frandon, and Verlia Cormier, all of Crowley, and Sandra Minix of Lafayette; one brother, Albert Frazier of Lake Charles; 23 grandchildren and 41 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents. Edward and Adeline Boyce; her husband, Fernel Minix Sr.; and two sons, Edward Lee and Fernel Minix Jr.

Mines E. Bertrand
ESTHERWOOD - Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 27, at Duhon Funeral Home Chapel in Crowley for Mines Edwin Bertrand, 76, who died at 4:36 p.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2002, at the American Legion Hospital in Crowley.
Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery with Father Rusty Richard officiating.
Visitation began on Wednesday, June 26, from 6-10 p.m. and Thursday from 8 a.m. until the time of services.
A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday evening.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Bertrand of Estherwood; one daughter, Lori Saylors of Valdez, Ark.; three sons, Wayne Bertrand of Huntsville, Ala., Richard Bertrand of Estherwood and Glenn Bertrand of Houston; two brothers, L.J. Bertrand of Crowley and Robert Bertrand of Lake Charles; two sisters, Ethel Bertrand of Estherwood and Myrtis Davis of Crowley; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ones and Ada Bertrand; three brothers, Weston, Hubert and J.D. Bertrand; and one sister, Hazel LeBlanc.
Bertrand served in the United States Navy during WWII, and was also a member of the Knights of Columbus in Estherwood and the VFW in Kaplan.

Vernice “Vern” Marie Q. Hoffpauir
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 28, at St. Joseph Catholic Church for Vernice "Vern" Marie Quebodeaux Hoffpauir, 72, who died at her residence in Rayne on Wednesday, June 26, 2002, at 8:55 a.m.
Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
She is survived be her husband, Patrick Hoffpauir Sr.; three sons, Robert Martien of Friends Wood, Texas, Timothy Martin of Houston, and Patrick Hoffpauir Jr. of Lafayette; four daughters, Helen Martien Booksh of Maringouin, Tamara Martin Speed of New London, Ct., Debbie Hoffpauir Chirillo of Fort Worth, Texas, and Denise Hoffpauir Stutes, Indian Bayou; 10 grandchildren, Jen, Jeremy, Danielle, Andrea, Nick, Aimee, Eric, Megan, Hannah and Jonathon; one brother, Melvin Quebodeaux of Egan; and a sister, Nell Martien of Crowley.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sanford and Elzine LeBlanc Quebodeaux: and a sister, Winnie Quebodeaux.
A native of Egan, Mrs. Hoffpauir was a longtime resident of Rayne. She was an accomplished writer and was inducted in the "Society of American Poets Emeritus" in 1976 and had short stories published in Readers Digest and McCall Magazine and poetry published in Poetry Digest and Digest of American Poets & Writers.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed Thursday from 2 until 9 p .m. and Friday from 8 a.m. until the time of services. A rosary will be prayed Thursday at 7 p.m.
Pallbearers are Thomas Speed, Rickey Booksh, Chuck Chirillo, Jim Martien, Eric Breaux, Jeremey Booksh, Alex Lawrence, Byron Martien and Nick Martien.

Mrs. Lloyd (Jean) Mire
KAPLAN - Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 27 at Our Lady of the Most Holy rosary Roman Catholic Church for Mrs. Lloyd (Jean) Mire, 68, who died at 10:16 p.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2002 at Abbeville General Hospital.
She will be laid to rest at Kaplan Cemetery with Rev. Lloyd Benoit officiating the services.
She is survived by her husband, Lloyd Mire of Kaplan; a son, Kerry Mire and his wife Joetta of Lafayette; three daughters, Deborah Meaux and her husband Gregg of Houston, Patricia Watson and her husband Glen of Lafayette and Jessica Riebel and her husband Duane of Kaplan; her mother, Louise Cormier Villejoin of Crowley; a brother, Ivan Villejoin of Crowley; eight grandchildren and one great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Adonis Villejoin; one daughter, Sherline LeBoeuf, and one granddaughter, Erica Mire.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed Wednesday from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. with a rosary at 6:30 p.m., and again on Thursday from 8 a.m. until the time of the service.

Edward George
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 28, at St. Theresa Catholic Church for Edward George, 79, who died Tuesday, June 25, 2002 at the Rehabilitation Hospital of Acadiana in Broussard.
Wake services will be held Friday beginning at 8 a.m. at St. Theresa Catholic Church until the time of the funeral service. Burial will be in the South Crowley Cemetery with Fr. Richard Sadlier officiating.
He is survived by a daughter, Jacqueline Francis of Lafayette; two sisters, Eva Clement and Ester M. Morris of Crowley; and a brother, Winnie George of Winnie, Texas.

J. Stamm Guidry
A native of Rayne and a resident of Fairhope, Ala., for the past seven years, J. Stamm Guidry died in Providence Hospital in Mobile, Ala., on Tuesday, June 18, 2002, the date of his 79th birthday, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Sunday, June 2.
Mr. Guidry was a retired businessman and a graduate of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
He was a veteran, having served his country during World War II in the United States Navy.
He is survived by his wife, Montez “Tez” Tassin Guidry of Fairhope; two daughters, Mrs. Rebecca (Billy) Guidry Adams of Slidell, and Mrs. Cyndie (Dan) Guidry Wilkins o fDaphne, Ala.; one brother, Warren L. Guidry of Rayne; four grandchildren, Marty Adams, Clay Adams, Catherine Wilkins and Matt Wilkins; a nephew, David W. Guidry of Rayne; and a niece Debora Bernard of Conyers, Ga.
He was predeceased by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Laurent J. Guidry of Rayne.
His paternal grandparents were Mr. and Mrs. Adonis Guidry and maternal grandparents were Mr. and Mrs. John F. Stamm of Rayne.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, June 29, at 2 p.m. from St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Fairhope.

Henry Bellard Sr.
On June 21, 2002 God sent his Angels to Medical Center of Southwest at 9 a.m. to collect another Angel for his flock, Henry Bellard Sr., 73, of Crowley.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 29, at 10 a.m. at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Crowley, where he served as an usher.
Wake services will be held at Owens-Thomas Funeral Home in Crowley from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
He serviced in the United States Army from 1951-1952 and fought in the Korean War. He was a retired cement mason and brick layer.
Bellard was also a member of the American Legion, Post 506, the Knights of St. Peter Claver and the Soul Brother Civic Club.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Maudry Citizen Bellard of Crowley; his children and grandchildren, J. Daniel Bellard (Sandra) and grandchildren Monique Bellard and Monica Bellard of Crowley; Brunella Bellard of Scott, Barbara Bellard and grandchildren Joseph J.R. and Marrisa; Isalee Malbrough (Danny Sr.) and grandchildren Lloyd “Trey,” Lakersha, Taylor, Danny Jr. and Damon, Henry Bellard Jr., all of Crowley; Darrell and granddaughter Jakera; Stephanie Garrett and a special son-in-law, Jeffrey Garrett, all of Houston, and Rochelle Bellard of Crowley; one brother, Getty Bellard of Opelousas; four sisters-in-law, Octavia Richard of Lake Charles, Juanita Wilridge and Cheryl Hammock of Los Angeles, Calif. and Margaret Ree of St. Louis, Mo.; two brothers-in-law, Paul “Cowboy” Citizen Sr. of Houston and Anthony Citizen of Los Angeles, Calif.

Allison Joseph Abshire
Funeral services for Allison Joseph Abshire, 70, of Crowley will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 27, at Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with Fr. James Nguyen, assistant pastor of St. Michael Catholic Church, officiating.
Abshire died at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2002 at his residence in Crowley. Burial will be in Hanks Cemetery in Morse.
Abshire was a disabled veteran of the United States Air Force. He was also a member of American Legion, Post 15 of Crowley.
Survivors include four brothers, Emerson Abshire of Morse, Rudy Abshire of Crowley, Chester Abshire of El Paso, Texas and Huey Abshire of San Antonio, Texas; and a half-sister, Eunice Palombo of Lafayette.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie Tribble Abshire; two sisters, Beatrice A. Fontenot and Thelma A. Guidry; two brothers, Sandrus and Jed Abshire; and his parents, Remus and Ida Leleux Abshire.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 2 p.m. until 10 p.m. Wednesday, June 26, and again on Thursday from 8 a.m. until the time of the service.

William Roy ‘Willie’ Miller
IOTA - Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 22 at St. Joseph Catholic Church for William Roy “Willie” Miller, 73, who died June 20, 2002 at his residence. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Kathleen B. Miller of Iota; three sons, Daniel J. Miller and wife Shirley of Church Point, William Wayne Miller of Iota and Nicholas Roy Miller of Iota; three daughters, Katherine Ann Jagneaux and husband Kermit of Church Point, Susanne Shelly Mire and husband Tony of Kaplan and Jessica Virginia Comeaux and husband J.C. of Rayne; two brothers, Ronald Miller of Big Sandy, Texas and Francis Miller of Lake Charles; two sisters, Melva Lee Stringer of Baton Rouge and Merita Aucoin of Eunice and 10 grandchildren.

Christopher Lee Hanks
JENNINGS - Funeral services for Christopher Lee Hanks, 21, of the Mermentau Cove/Jennings area are scheduled at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 25, at Matthews and Son Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mitchell Gotte officiating.
Burial will be in Andrus Cove Cemetery. A rosary was said Monday evening at 7 p.m.
Hanks died at 11:55 p.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2002 at Lake Arthur.
He was a native of Jennings and a resident of Mermentau Cove and then Jennings for one year.
Visitation was held Monday from 2:30 p.m. until, midnight and again on Tuesday from 8 a.m. until the time of the services.
Survivors include his mother, Lizzie Murray Hanks of Jennings; a brother, Corey Wade Hanks of Jennings; his maternal grandmother, Alice Murray of Jennings, and paternal grandmother, Norma Jean Hanks of Mermentau.
He is preceded in death by his father, Robert Lee Hanks Jr., his maternal grandfather, Charles Murray and his paternal grandfather, Robert Lee Hanks Sr.
Pallbearers are Wendell Murray, Charles LeJeune, Oris Hanks, Beau Hanks, Vincent Broussard and Jude Richard.

D.W. ‘Buddy’ Crawford
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 26, at First United Methodist Church in Crowley for D.W. “Buddy” Crawford, 71, who died at 12:55 a.m. Monday, June 24, 2002 at his residence in Lafayette.
Officiating for the funeral service will be the Reverend Lynn Lowe. Military graveside services will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Bethlehem Cemetery in Pearl River.
Crawford was born in 1931 in Bush. He graduated from Crowley High School and attended the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (formerly S.L.I.) and graduated from the University of Houston with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. He served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.
He worked for Camco in Lafayette and internationally for Camco Oil Tools. He returned to the United States and became vice president for Brown Oil Tools and was in charge of international sales. Shortly afterward, he founded HCH Supply Co., an Egyptian company in Cairo, Egypt. After five years, he returned to the United States and helped to found Houston Monarch Gas Lift Co. In his 40 years of service, he was awarded many patents on downhole equipment which proved to be vital to the oil industry. He retired to Lilbert, Texas where he spent most of his remaining years raising horses and cattle. He returned to Lafayette to live out the remainder of his days in the company of family and friends.
Crawford is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sallie Stanton Crawford of Lafayette; Three sons, Douglas Warren Crawford Jr. and his wife Susan Standard Crawford of Medina, Texas, Mark Stanton Crawford and his wife Madeline Stoma Crawford of Houston and William Brian Crawford and his wife Andrea Credeur Crawford of Lafayette; a sister, Nell Crawford Ellis of Houston and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two infant brothers and an infant sister.
Pallbearers will be his three sons, Seth and Hayden Crawford, Darrin Stanton and Tommy Freeland.
The family requests that memorial donations be made to First United Methodist Church for children, , Hospice of Acadiana or the charity of your choice. The family would also like to extend their gratitude to Hospice of Acadiana.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until service time at the church.

Laura Kanter O’Donnell
Memorial services were held at 6 p.m. on Monday, June 24, 2002 for Laura Ann Kanter O’Donnell, 41, of Crowley, who died Thursday, June 20, 2002 at American Legion Hospital. The services were held at the home of her parents.
Survivors include her parents, Shel and Deanie Kanter of Crowley; her husband, Shannon O’Donnell of Crowley; three sisters, Patty Simon and her husband, Oren of Crowley; Dianne McClelland of Duson and Angie Abshire of Crowley; six nephews, Trey Simon, Ryan “Simon” Simon, Hal Morgan and his wife, Julie, Kenny Abshire, Nate Morgan and Cole Michael Simon; three nieces, Deanie McClelland, Mamie Abshire and Danielle Morgan.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Rick Kanter.

CHURCH POINT – Jo Ann Young, 58, died Thursday, June 20, 2002, at Acadia-St. Landry Guest Home in Church Point. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 22, at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will be in Msgr. Bienvenu Cemetery under the direction of Guidry Funeral Home of Church Point.

CHURCH POINT – Mrs. John W. Larson, 87, the former Mary Nead Beaugh, died Wednesday, June 19, 2002, at her residence in Church Point. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 21, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will be in the church mausoleum under the direction of Guidry Funeral Home of Church Point.

CROWLEY – Joseph Charles “J.C.” Bertrand, 64, died Monday, June 17, 2002 at 1:35 a.m. at Crowley American Legion Hospital. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 18, at Duhon Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in the Hanks Cemetery in Morse under the direction of Duhon Funeral Home of Crowley.

Elwood Antoine Gary
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 20, 2002 at 10 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church for Elwood Antoine Gary who died at the age of 91.
Officiating the services will be Fr. James Nugyen. Visitation can be observed on Wednesday fro 2 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 8 a.m. until the time of the services. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Crowley.
Mr. Gary was born Nov. 20, 1910 of the late Raymond and Felician LeBlanc Gary. He was a native of Mermentau and his residence was in Crowley for most of his life. He began work as an auto repairman opening “Gary’s Garage” in the 1950’s. He retired in the late 1990’s but continued to enjoy doing repair work for his friends. He also had a passion for sac-a-lait fishing and liked nothing more than spending time on the Mermentau River with his sons or his friends.
He was a long-time member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church serving as usher for many years. He also belonged to Msgr. George Mollo Assembly of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by two sons, Robert Gary and his wife Barbara of Crowley and Richard Gary and his wife Sharon of Baton Rouge; one daughter, Patricia G. Lawrence and her husband Jack of Lafayette; two grandchildren, Clay Gary of Houston and Margaret Gary of Baton Rouge; two sisters, Grace G. Guidry of Mermentau and Gladys G. Trahan of Saraland, AL; and three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marguerite Franzel Gary, and two sisters, Hazel G. LaBauve and Jean G. Allian.
The family would like to thank his many friends for their prayers, visits and support during his last days.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Walter Mire, 86, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 17, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Lyons Point.

Mr. Mire died at 10:30 p.m. Friday, June 14, 2002, at his residence in Lyons Point.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ethel Thibodeaux Mire; one daughter, Esther Arabie and her husband Winston “Sonny” Arabie of Lafayette; one son, Russell Mire and his wife Shirlen of Scott; two sisters, Gertrude McLeod of Sulphur and Louise Gravino of Mountain View, Calif.; nine grandsons and 14 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard Mire and the former Bella Gunther; five brothers, Lee Oscar, Theodore, Joe, Dulva and Sevien Mire; and two sisters, Ella H. Gaspard and Agnes Williams.
Pallbearers will be Danny, Patrick and Roger Arabie and Ryan, Kevin and Andy Mire. Honorary pallbearers will be Phillip, Arnold and Gerald Arabie.
Mr. Mire was a retired farmer. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of American Legion Post 15 in Crowley. He was also a member of the Holy Name Society.
The family requests that memorial donations in Mr. Mire’s name be made to Hospice of St. Landry.

Mrs. Conner died at 10:10 a.m. Friday, June 14, 2002, at her home in Crowley.
She is survived by her husband, Alcee Conner of Crowley; two sons, Lonnie J. Conner of Mermentau Cove and Timothy L. Conner and his wife Paula of Crowley; one daughter, Joanne Villejoin and her husband Kenneth of Lake Charles; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by one daughter, Edmonia Maryland Conner; one granddaughter, Kylie Elizabeth Conner; her parents, oscar and Edmonia LeMaire; and three brothers and one sister.
She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary Unit 15 and a member and president of VFW Post 6720 Auxiliary. She was dedicated to one hour of adoration at St. Michael and was a member of the Ladies Altar Society.

Funeral services will be held at an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, June 13, 2002 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for E.J. “Boudie” Boudreaux, 81, who died Tuesday, June 11, 2002 at Medical Center of Southwest Louisiana in Lafayette.
Rev. Wyane Duet, pastor of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Earth, will serve as Celebrant of the Mass.
Interment will take place at St. Joseph Mausoleum in Rayne.
Mr. Boudreaux, the son of the late Charles Davis Boudreaux and the former Marie Dupont, was a native of Acadia Parish. He was the owner and operator of Boudie’s Record and Camera Center and Dixie Photo Supply, Inc., both located in Lafaayette. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfater who will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Boudie’s philosophy on life was “Everything is possible for him who believes.” He was a member of St. Jules Catholic Church and St. Jules Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his wife, Ellender Murrell Boudreaux of Lafayette; three daughters, Ellen Boudreaux LaBry and husband Steve of Lafayette, Linda Boudreaux Montgomery of Charlotteville, Va., and Mary Boudreaux Gill and husband Nick of Lufkin, Tx.; one son, Edward J. Boudreaux, Jr., and his wife Phyllis of Lafayette; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Martha Gleason; and, one brother, Martin J. Boudreaux, Sr.

Roxanne Yvette Fontenot, 47, passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2002, at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Eveldia “Mae Mae” and Ferdie Fontenot, formerly of Crowley.
Raised in Crowley, she moved to Rayne prior to her death.
She leaves to mourn her passing her grandmother, Luberta Wilturner of Duson; one daughter, Erika Tamika Fontenot of Crowley; six brothers, Willard “Bill” Fontenot of San Diego, Calif., Calvin Zeno of Crowley, Kenny, Terry, Bobby and Michael Fontenot of Los Angeles, Calif.; one granddaughter, Cherish E. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 7, at Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel for Leona Brabham Petry, 83, who died at 6:19 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2002, at Bayou Village Nursing Home.
Rev. Truman Stagg will officiate the services. Visitation was held Thursday from 4 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. until the time of the service.
Survivors include her husband, Clyde E. Petry of Crowley; one son, Donald Petry Sr. of Crowley; four grandchildren, Kathie Petry Gant of Livingston, Donald R. Petry Jr. of Lafayette, William “Billy” Petry of Crowley and Brian R. Petry of Lafayette; five great-grandchildren and one sister, Lena Watson of New York.
Mrs. Petry is preceded in death by her parents, Ellison and Minnie Morgan Brabham, and ten brothers and sisters.
Pallbearers are Donald Petry Jr., William “Billy” Petry, Brian Petry, Charlie Hayes and Beau Grant.

Marilyn McBride Leleux
ESTHERWOOD - Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church for Marilyn McBride Leleux, 80, who died at 1:15 p.m. Monday, June 3, 2002, at the American Legion Hospital in Crowley.
Officiating for the funeral will be the Reverend Rusty Richard, pastor of St. Margaret’s Catholic Church.
Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Crowley.
Readers for the Mass of Resurrection will be her granddaughters, Andrea Trahan and Jeanne T. Marcantel. Gift bearers will also be her granddaughters, Alice Trahan, Julie T. Martin and Claire Leleux.
Visitation will be observed from 10:30 a.m. until 10 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, and again from 8 a.m. until services on Wednesday.
Mrs. Leleux retired as a school secretary after 34 years for Midland High School.
Survivors include three daughters, Roy Lynn S. Trahan and her husband Lawrence of Crowley; Sydna L. Hanks and her husband Albay of Jennings, Ellen L. Myers and her husband Glyn of Eunice; one son, Harold P. Leleux Jr. and his wife Lyle D. of Rayne; three brothers, Edward S. McBride of Kingsville, MD, Warren McBride of Rayne and Harold A. McBride of Garland, Texas; 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold P. Leleux Sr.; a brother, Sidney McBride, and a sister, Kathleen M. Leleux.
Pallbearers will be grandsons Brad, Eric and Luke Hanks, Benjamin Leleux and Derek, Clay and Mark Myers.

Vernice Hillidge
MINDEN - Funeral services for Mrs. Vernice Ancelet Hillidge, 70, were held at 10 a.m. June 3, 2002, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home. Burial followed at Bistineau Cemetery in Heflin.
A resident of Sibley, she passed away Saturday, June 1. She was born Nov. 7, 1931 in Roberts Cove. Active in the Methodist Church, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Semar Ancelet, and a brother, Clarence Estelet.
She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, J.D. (Dannie) Hillidge; one son, Jefferson Wayne Hillidge; daughter, Pamela Kaye Hillidge; son, Jerry Cole Hillidge and wife Patsy; granddaughters, Julie Alans Hillidge and Betsy Ann Hillidge; sisters, Ethel Mae Murphy, Agnes Rainer and Gladys Guidry; brother, Walter Ancelet of Crowley; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were J.C. Merritt, Doyle Chandler, Michael Thomas, Frank Cantrell, Joe Hinton and Curtis Taylor. Honorary pallbearers were Raymond Parker and nephews, Don Guidry, Mike Murphy, Randy Guidry, Rayford Ancelet and Daniel Boulet.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.

CHURCH POINT – Mrs. Elta D. Elkins, 80, died Sunday, June 2, 2002, at 11:30 a.m. at Opelousas General Hospital. CROWLEY – Robby Jay Roy, 38, died Friday, May 31, 2002 at the residence of his sister residing in Crowley. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 5, at 3:30 p.m. at Duhon Funeral Home Chapel in Crowley. Burial will be in the Abshire Cemetery in rural Kaplan under the direction of Duhon Funeral Home of Crowley.

Eudia Marie Godeaux
MERMENTAU - Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2002 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church for Eudia Marie Godeaux, 84, who died Monday, June 3, at 8:10 a.m. at Jeff Davis Living Center.
Officiating the service will be Fr. Rusty Richard. Visitation will be observed Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. and 10 p.m. and again on Wednesday from 8 a.m. until the time of the service.
Burial will be in St. John the Evangelist Cemetery.
A rosary will be said Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
She is a native of Carencro and a resident of Mermentau.
Survivors include three sons, Gerald Godeaux and his wife Janet of Mermentau, Willie Godeaux and his companion Irene of Mermentau, and Gary P. Godeaux and his wife Sheila of Midland; three daughters, Shelby Maris and her husband Harold of Mermentau, Gay Guidry of Mermentau, and Coreada Hoffpauir and her husband Michael of Roberts Cove; two brothers, Percy Cormier of Lake Charles and Dalton Cormier of Oklahoma; three sisters, Eumaia Guidry of Mermentau, Besie Hebert of Gueydan and Juanita Fontenot of Lake Charles; 20 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Leonce and Zelma Cormier; her husband, Gus Godeaux; two brothers, Curtis Cormier and Lennis Cormier; two sisters, Adeline Boudreaux and Aline Simon; and one son, Standford James Godeaux.

Annie Jabusch Richard
Funeral services for Annie Jabusch Richard, 82, of Crowley will be held at 2 p.m. today, Sunday, June 2, 2002 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Crowley with Fr. James Nguyen officiating.
Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Crowley.
Mrs. Richard died at 10:50 a.m. on Friday, May 31, 2002 at the American Legion Hospital in Crowley. Visitation began on Saturday, June 1 from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m., and today from 8 a.m. until time of services.
She and her husband, the late Rene’ Richard, owned and operated Richard’s Cash Grocery in Crowley from 1939 until 1976 when Mr. Richard retired.
Survivors include fours sons, Rene’ Richard, Jr. of Lafayette, Randy Richard of Crowley, Donald Richard of Jennings, and Stephen Richard of Lake Charles; two brothers, Frank Jabusch of Egan and Fred Jabusch of Crowley; twelve grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
The family would also like to recognize some very special friends -- Mary Briley and her husband, Clyde, and their children, Todd and Nancy -- who were very much a part of them.

Robert “Doug” McCall
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, June 2, 2002 at Ebenezer Nazarene Church for Robert “Doug” McCall, 59, who died at 10:20 p.m. Thursday, May 30, 2002 at his residence in Indian Bayou. Officiating for the funeral service will be the Reverend Joe Talhelm, pastor of Ebenezer Nazarene Church. Burial will be in Indian Bayou Methodist Cemetery.
Visitation was observed from 2:30 p.m. until 10 p.m. Saturday and again today from 8 a.m. until noon at Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home. The body will then be at the church from 1 p.m. until the time of services.
Mr. McCall was a flooring installer and served in the Army during the Vietnam Era.
Survivors include his wife, Kay Francis Winchester McCall of Indian Bayou; a daughter, Kim M. Istre and her husband Kenneth, of Crowley; a son, Wayne McCall and his wife, Brenda, of Crowley; his mother, Gertie Alma Hoffpauir McCall of Indian Bayou and four grandchildren, Corde and Cameron McCall and Kaleb and Korry Istre.
He was preceded in death by his father, Allen Eugene McCall, and a brother, Sterling Eugene McCall.
