Deomede Joseph Simon
There will be a celebration of the life of Deomede “Joe” Simon, 84, of Leesville.
Funeral service will be held on Monday, June 9, at 11 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Leesville. Burial will follow in the Central Louisiana Veterans Cemetery under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.
Visitation will be from 4 until 9 p.m. at Labby Memorial Funeral Home in Leesville on Sunday, June 8.
Joe was born on Aug. 23, 1929, in Gueydan. He passed away at home surrounded by his family on June 1.
Joe is survived by his wife, Mary; and their children, Carol Simon Pilola and husband Phillip of Hampton, Virginia, Annette Simon of Iowa, Jim Simon and wife Pam of Leesville, Jackie Simon Cart and husband Kirk of Iota, Sherry Simon Sylvest and husband Weighlon of Leesville, Marion Simon Pitre and husband Paul of Dry Creek, Carl Simon and wife Theresa of Leesville, and Dwain Simon and wife Kathy of Leesville; his sister, Louise Cormier of Scott; 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Joe spent a life time serving his country, community and family. He served 22 years in the U.S. Army where he received the Purple Heart for actions in Korea, 13 years in the U.S. Post Office and 10 years at the Vernon Council on Aging. He was a loving husband and father and always ready to lend a helping hand.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
