A Mass of Christian Burial for Evelia Mire Primeaux, 82, of Crowley will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. in Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Father Mark Miley will serve as celebrant. Interment will follow in Abshire Cemetery, Kaplan.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 7, 2013 from 9:00 A.M. until 10:00 P.M., with a rosary being recited at 6:00 P.M. in Duhon Funeral Home, Crowley. Visitation will continue on Wednesday from 8:00 A.M. until 1:30 P.M. in the funeral home.
Mrs. Primeaux passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2014 at 5:36 A.M. in her daughter’s Sunset residence.
A native of Vermilion Parish, and longtime resident of Crowley, Mrs. Primeaux was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. She worked for many years as a certified nursing assistant, retiring from Town and Country Nursing Home after 20 years of service.
Mrs. Primeaux enjoyed camping, fishing, and travelling, and she was a fan of Cajun music. She loved her dog, Buster. Her greatest joy in life was caring for and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her daughters, Judy P. Hollier of Sunset, Patricia Primeaux Guillory and fiancé, John Ricky Faul of Youngsville, and Zora P. Laughlin and husband, David of Egan; sons, Aurelien Michael Primeaux and companion, Betty of Crowley, Danny James Primeaux and fiancé, Marie Desser of Maurice, and Larry Paul Primeaux and wife, Andrea of Lafayette; brother, Theodore Mire of Nunez; grandchildren, Sherman Hollier and wife, April of Prairie Ronde, Chermaine LeBouff and husband, Anthony of Jennings, Colby Guillory and wife, Lindsey of Youngsville, Tray Guillory and wife, Kiley of Valdosta, GA, Scott Davy and wife, Celeste of Crowley, Sabrina Primeaux of Crowley, Britny Primeaux of Lafayette, Brandy Primeaux of Lafayette, Jared Taylor of Lafayette, Seth Taylor of Lafayette, Erica Hebert and husband, Garrett of Egan, and Logan Laughlin of Egan; 17 great-grandchildren; and granddaughter-in-law, Heather Guillory of Youngsville.
Preceding Mrs. Primeaux in death were her husband of 50 years, Aurelien Primeaux; parents, Jean Batiste Mire and Emily Broussard Mire; sister, Ena Leger; brothers, Preston Mire, Acey Mire, and Allen Mire; and grandson, Eric Brannon Guillory.
Serving as pallbearers are Danny Primeaux, Larry Primeaux, David Laughlin, Sherman Hollier, Colby Guillory and Scott Davy. Named as honorary pallbearers are Michael Primeaux, Tray Guillory, and Anthony LeBouff.
The family wishes to extend thanks to Louisiana Hospice, Miles Perret Cancer Center, and St. Charles Borremeo Catholic Church for the care and ministry they provided.
