John William Humble Sr.
Mr. John William Humble Sr., 78 of Morse, was called from this life on July 1, 2014, while surrounded by his loving family.
John William was born in Maxie to the late Arthur W. Humble Jr. and the late Mary Quebodeaux Humble on Aug 28, 1935.
Mr. John was a valued member of the Masonic Lodge # 243 since 1969. He served on the police jury for 12 years. Mr. John was the owner and operator of Petroleum Directional Services. He was also a truck driver for Humble Water Corp. and a farmer for a number of years. He especially loved to cook and entertain his family and friends. Hunting, riding and listening to music was a few of his many enjoyments. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Leaving behind to cherish his memories are his beloved children, three sons, Bill (Jerrilyn) Humble, Jim Humble, Alvin (Roxanne) Humble; one daughter, Priscilla (Allen) Carlson all of Morse; his mother-in-law, Winnie Richard of Morse; 12 grandchildren, Brandon (Renee) Carlson, Tara (Joe) Patin, Sophie (Terrell) Istre, Alexa, Chloé, Connor, Joshua and Brandon Humble, Chris (Leah) Humble, Andrea (Jason) Simon, Richie (Aimee) Humble and William (Rebecca) Humble; 15 great-grandchildren, Jasi, Raylee, Terrell, Isaiah Istre, Micha, Gabe, Myra and Josie Carlson, Kirsten, Keithen, Kade, Johnny, and Dagan Patin, Alex Simon and Grant and Addison Humble; one sister, Sally Sensat (Elmer) of Lafayette; and one godchild, Brendan Richard.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mildred Richard Humble; son, Richard “Poncho” Humble; two brothers, Alvin “Dugas” Humble and Jimmy Ray Humble; and his father-in-law, Aneas Richard.
Carrying Mr. John to his final resting place in Hanks Cemetery will be Brandon Carlson, Chris, Richie, William, Alvin and Jim Humble and Ronnie Richard.
Honorary pallbearers will include Julian LeBlanc, Randy, Stewart and Blake Humble, Joe Patin, Jason Simon, Terrell Istre, Watham “Doc” George, Brendan Richard, Greg Richard, Tony Richard, Ronald Monceaux, Mark Hollier, Noble Chambers, Seth Humble and Kermit Richard.
Funeral service will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings on Thursday, July 3, at 2 p.m. with Father Clint Trahan officiating. Burial will follow in the Hanks Cemetery under the direction of Matthews and Son Funeral Home.
A gathering of family and friends began at Matthews & Son Funeral Home in Jennings on Wednesday, July 2, from 2 p.m. until 10 p.m. with a Masonic Service at 7 p.m., followed by music played by T.J. Gautreaux. Visitation resumes on Thursday at 8 a.m. until the time of his funeral service at 2 p.m.
