Kathryn Ann Murphy


A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, June 21, at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church for Kathryn Ann Murphy, 52, who died Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at 7 p.m. at Acadia General Hospital in Crowley.

She was a 1980 graduate of Crowley High School, an active member of Bayouland EMS, a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and a member of the Acadian Quilt Guild. At the time of her death she was employed with the 15th Judicial District Attorney’s Office in Crowley.

Fr. Matthew Higginbotham, pastor of Immaculate Heart of Mary, will officiate for the services. The family requests visiting hours Friday 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. A rosary will be recited Friday at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Kathy is survived by two sisters, Karen M. Hebert and husband Lynden of Crowley, and Denise M. Hebert and husband Keith of Crowley; sister-in-law, Dianna L. Murphy of St. Martinville; one step-sister, Jessica Hebert and husband Craig of Crowley; one step-brother, Chris Lavergne and wife Leah of Maurice; god-parents, Patricia Whitley and Charles Broussard; nieces, Leigh Ann Murphy, Emily Lyn Hebert, Corrine Ariana Wasacz, Gabrielle Elyse Lavergne and Cortni Brooke Hebert; nephews, Brian Adam Murphy, David Wasacz Jr., Corey Michael Doucet, Logan Keith Hebert and Bryce Christopher Lavergne; godchildren, Logan Keith Hebert and Cody Blaine Huesers; and numerous adopted nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leah Jane Broussard and John Murphy; one brother, Brian J. Murphy; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Broussard; paternal grandparents, Emma Smith and Carl J. Murphy; and numerous aunts and uncles.

Pallbearers will be Keith Hebert, Don Whitley, Aaron Thibodeaux, Charlie Broussard, Cody Huesers and Tye Whitley. Honorary pallbearers will be Lynden Hebert, Jeff Foreman, Owen Foreman and Zachary Thibodeaux.
