Mr. Jake was born Sept. 2, 1934, in Estherwood to the late Theodore and Nora LeJeune Myers. He met his wife Lolly in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and thereafter moved to Louisiana and resided in Estherwood.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and loyal to his friends. As a Christian man he quietly went about his life giving, sharing and helping those in need. He often spoke of how God returned to him and our family as he and his late wife “Lolly” gave of themselves. He loved gardening, raising livestock, hunting, fishing, and shared the bounty of his harvest generously with the community. He played Bluegrass Gospel Music on the guitar, mandolin, dobro and the stand-up bass, and he loved to sing and write music. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by two sons, Glenn Myers and wife Pandora of Columbus, Nevada, and Douglas Myers and fiancé Elizabeth Peterson of Estherwood; four grandchildren, Denise K. Leise, Jacob, Ethan and Joshua Myers; a great granddaughter, Haley Leise.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Larlene “Lolly” Johannes Myers; his parents, Theodore and Nora LeJeune Myers; four sisters, Edith M. Vice, Corrine M. Trahan, Elia Myers and Mary M. Meche; and one brother, Clifton Myers.
