Funeral services for Leon Stelly, Jr., 66, of Lafayette wil be held on Friday, February 7, 2014, at 3:00 p.m. in Duhon Funeral Home Chapel, Rayne. Mr. Lance Bennet will officiate.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 7, 2014, from 10:00 a.m. until service time in Duhon Funeral Home, Rayne, and continue after the service until 9:00 p.m.
Mr. Stelly passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2014, at 6:15 a.m. in a Lafayette hospital.
A native and lifelong resident of Lafayette, Mr. Stelly was a member of Riverside Church of Christ. He was formerly owner/operator of an oilfield pipe company, a grocery store, a meat market, a seafood market, a seafood restaurant, a commercial fishery, and rental properties.
Mr. Stelly was an avid hunter and fisherman, as well as a drag racing and mud racing enthusiast. He also belonged to a pool league. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Benita M. Stelly of Lafayette; daughters, Brenda Daniel and husband, Joe Savoie, of Youngsville, Pamela Crotts of Lafayette, Ivy Lemon and husband, Paul, of Kiln, MS, and Sonya Finck and husband, Shane, of Lafayette; sons, Scotty Molitor of Lafayette, Michael Stelly, Sr. and wife, Mailein, of West Palm Beach, FL, and Korey Molitor and wife, Nicole, of Lafayette; sister, Jeanette Duhon of Lafayette; brother, Melvin Stelly of Port Neches, TX; grandchildren, Dustin Stelly and wife, Rebecca of Lafayette, Kortnee Bleu and husband, Will, of Greenville, SC, Philip Daniel of Lafayette, Ariel Finck of Lafayette, Monique Daniel of Lafayette, Cullan Finck of Lafayette, Amber Daniel of Lafayette, McKenzie Finck of Lafayette, Michael Stelly, Jr. of West Palm Beach, FL, Tamara Lemon of Kiln, MS, Taylor Lemon of Kiln, MS, Tanner Lemon of Kiln, MS, Tanner Lemon of Kiln, MS, Emma Molitor of Lafayette, Ashland Wilson of Mississippi, and Haley Thomas of Alabama; and great-grandchild, Kael Stelly of Lafayette. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends, as well as his dog, Benji.
Preceding Mr. Stelly in death were his first wife, Edna Arceneaux Stelly; parents, Leon Stelly, Sr. and Marie Romero Stelly; and son-in-law, Mark Crotts.
