Lillian Fontenot Borne
Rayne—A Mass of Christian Burial for Lillian Fontenot Borne, 93, of Rayne will be celebrated on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. in St. Joseph Catholic Church. Father Kendal Faulk will serve as celebrant. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery #2 Mausoleum, Rayne.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 from 11:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M. in Duhon Funeral Home, Rayne, with a rosary being recited at 6:00 P.M. Visitation will continue on Thursday from 8:00 A.M. until 9:30 A.M. in the funeral home.
Mrs. Borne passed away on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at 10:25 A.M. in a Rayne care facility.
A native of Indian Bayou, Mrs. Borne was a resident of Rayne for 78 years. She was a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where she lived out her faith as a member of Catholic Daughters of America, Ladies Altar Society, and Lay Carmelites.
Mrs. Borne worked as cafeteria manager at South Rayne Elementary School for 26 years. She enjoyed playing cards, but her greatest joy was spending time with and caring for her family.
Survivors include her daughters, Jeanette LeBlanc and husband, Verley of Rayne, Dorothy Choate and husband, Jeff of Huntsville, AL, Helen Maraist of Crowley, and Susie Roberts of Rayne; son, Robert Borne and wife, Agnes of Morgan City; sister, Margie Breaux of Rayne; 17 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Preceding Mrs. Borne in death were her husband of 64 years, Leonce Borne; parents, Hypolite and Clevima Benoit Fontenot; son, James Borne; sisters, Emela Boudreaux and Mildred Fontenot; grandchild, Frederick Maraist; and great-grandchild, Dylan Trahan.
Serving as pallbearers are Mark Choate, Shelly Roberts, Terry Roberts, Jr., Duane LeBlanc, Chet LeBlanc, and Brent LeBlanc.
