Mary Beth Lawrence,

Houston,TX.- Graveside funeral services were held at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston, TX on Monday April 7, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. for Mary Beth Lawrence, 93 who died peacefully on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at Circle of Life Hospice Home at Legacy Village in Bentonville, Arkansas.

Mrs. Lawrence was born in 1921 in Brownsville, TX. After attending college, she worked as a ground stewardess for Pan American Airlines until her late 20s when she moved to Houston and met her husband, Joe. In the 1960s, the oil industry brought the Lawrence's to Louisiana where they settled along Bayou Teche in New Iberia. Mrs. Lawrence became one of the first women to sell real estate in Lafayette, and she sold real estate for twenty years. After residing in New Iberia, LA for 43 years, Mrs. Lawrence eventually retired to Holiday Island, AR where she had spent several summers. She was a woman of many talents. She was an accomplished seamstress, talented artist, kept a beautiful yard, and could design, make or build almost anything. She enjoyed watching Fox News and was affectionately know to some as "The Republican".

Survivors include her three children Marilyn Barrow of Houston, TX, Carolyn Guidry of Rayne, LA, and Joe Lawrence and wife Sandra of Holiday Island,AR; eight grandchildren, Belen Timmins and husband James of Houston, TX, Nick Barrow of Houston, TX, Stephen Guidry and wife Valerie of Lafayette, LA, David Guidry and fiancee Joelle of Lafayette, LA, Emma Tormey and husband Dan of South Bend, IN, Eleanor Lawrence of Tulsa, OK, Joanna Galyen and husband Nathan of Garfield, AR; four step-grandchildren, Jared Olivier and wife Rae of Thibodeaux, LA, Marty Olivier of Lafayette, LA, Barry Rizzolla of Lafayette, LA, and Randall Rizzolla of Holiday Island, AR; and twelve great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, her brother Fred Starck, husband Joe Lawrence, and two sons-in-law, Rusty Guidry and Michael Barrow.
