Mrs. Ruth LaCombe
A Mass of Christian burial for Mrs. Ruth LaCombe, 79, of the Evangeline “Bluff” will be held on Thursday, June 26, at 2 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Evangeline with Father David Broussard officiating her services.
The LaCombe family requests visitation to be held on Wednesday, June 25, from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Wednesday evening by Father David Broussard. Visitation will resume on Thursday, June 26, at 8 a.m. until the time of her service at 2 p.m.
Mrs. Ruth will be laid to rest in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Iota.
Mrs. Ruth passed away on Monday, June 23, 2014, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Evangeline to the late John LaCombe and the late Edmay Laughlin LaCombe on March 5, 1935. Mrs. Ruth was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and also a member of the Ladies Altar Society at St. Joseph. She was a homemaker and loved to sew, crochet and watch tennis. She was affectionately known by her grandchildren as “Granny”. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Mrs. Ruth is survived by her son, Dennis John LaCombe and wife Julie of the Evangeline “Bluff”; three daughters, Pamela Ann Hebert of Evangeline, Karin Kay LaFleur and husband Huey of Tee-Mamou and Sherry Lynn Reed and husband Thomas “Oddmaus” of Iota; her two brothers, John LaCombe Jr. and wife Gwen of Iota and Carl LaCombe and wife Kimmie of Carencro; and one sister-in-law, Ida Belle Broussard and husband Wilbert of Lake Arthur. She also leaves behind to cherish in her memories, 15 loving grandchildren, Kent Hebert, Trent Hebert, Brent Hebert, Logan Duhon, Aimee Miller, Jermey LaFleur, Cody Lantz, Joshua Lapoint, Brooke Ramour, Billy Reed, Noah Reed, Samuel Reed, Jennifer Cormier, Nicholas LaCombe and Lindsey LaCombe; also, 25 great-grandchildren with a Lapoint grandbaby on the way.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Ellsworth “Bobby” LaCombe; one son, Randall Keith LaCombe; one sister, Lucille “Bennie” Bertrand; her brother, Richard “Popeye” LaCombe Sr.; one nephew, Duane LaCombe; and one niece, Beverly “Sue” Garry.
Carrying Mrs. Ruth to her eternal rest place will be Jermey LaFleur, Nicholas LaCombe, Trent Hebert, Cody Lantz, Carl LaCombe and John LaCombe Jr.
Honorary pallbearers will be Joshua Lapoint, Billy Reed, Noah Reed, Samuel Reed, Logan Duhon, Brent Hebert, Kent Hebert and Zackary Miller.
