Russell Kenney Faulconer

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 27, 2014, at the Trinity Episcopal Church for Russell Kenney Faulconer, 71, who passed away Jan. 23, after a long illness. 

Rev. Herman Ogea, pastor of Trinity Episcopal Church, will celebrate the Funeral Mass. The burial will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation may be observed Sunday, Jan. 26, from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m. and Monday, Jan. 27, from 8 a.m. until service time.

Russell was born in Georgetown, Ky., Sept. 28, 1942. He owned and operated the Crowley Flower Shop & Gifts for 39 years. An active member of the community, he participated in many civic, service and social organizations over the years. Russ was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, a long time member of the Board of Directors of Louisiana Wholesale Florists, Inc., a Board Member of The Acadia Players, a past Board Member of the Louisiana Florists’ Association and the International Rice Festival Board, where he was the first recipient of the Rice Festival Presidents’ Choice Award. He was also a charter member of Louisiana Master Florist Certification program. Russ was a long time member of the Crowley Town Club and was chosen as King Cimmer of the Town Club Mardi Gras ball in 2001, as well as a past member of Crowley Kiwanis Club. Russell was a 32nd degree Mason and a Shriner and obtained the rank of Eagle Scout in Lexington, Ky. 

Russ never met a stranger and had one of the sweetest, kindest and most generous hearts of anyone. He was always there to help anyone who needed, without being asked. Russ will be sorely missed by everyone whose life he ever touched. 

He is survived by his wife, Jane Carol James Faulconer, also from Georgetown, Ky. Russ and Jane were high school sweethearts and recently celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary. His daughter, Lisa Faulconer Williams and her husband, Marc, of Houston, Texas; his grandchildren, Kristin Venable Malespin and her husband, Tony, of Katy, Texas, and two children A’Marie Jane and Tony Jr. Malespin; Heather Venable of Hampton, Va., and her children M’Lise Venable and Kylin Venable; Jennifer Lormand Lantier and Cory and their children Jayce, Camrynn and Cullen; Andrea Williams, Lydia Williams, Brandon Williams and Joseph Williams; and one brother James Faulconer of Melbourne, Fla. 

He was preceded in death by his son, Jeff; parents, Harold and Leona Faulconer; and one sister Donna.

Pallbearers are Marc Williams, Scott Sibley, Tony Malespin, Cory Lantier, Joseph Williams and David Morgan. Honorary pallbearers are Buck Morgan, Roy Bernard, Ricky Breaux, Merlin Leger and Mike Johnson.
