Stephen Albert Spallino
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 3 p.m., Friday, May 16, at Saint Michael the Archangel Catholic Church for Stephen Albert Spallino, 84, who died at 4:32 a.m. Tuesday, May 13, 2014, in Lafayette.
Fr. Mark Miley, associate pastor of St. Michael Catholic Church, will celebrate the Mass and the committal service will follow at the Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation may be observed on Thursday from 2 p.m. until 10 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. until service time. The rosary will be prayed at 6 p.m. Thursday.
Stephen was born July 14, 1929, in Independence, Louisiana, to the late Albert and Annie Ogima Spallino. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines and proudly served his country during the Korean War. He and his wife, Cecile, owned and operated American Wholesale Jewelers for 30 Years. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and gardening and loved to barbecue for his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Cecile Spallino of Crowley; daughter, Stephanie Amanda Spallino of Nashville, Tennessee; two sons, Stephen Greg Spallino of Estherwood and Albert Bryan Spallino and wife Angie of Lafayette; seven grandchildren, Sophia, Olivia, Celia, Madeline, GiGi, Gickey and Mandy; three great-grandchildren, Sunny, Copper and Gracie; a sister, Jenny Watts of Denham Springs; and four brothers, Jake Spallino of Crowley, Joe Spallino of Crowley, Al Spallino of Lafayette and Jimmy Spallino of Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Sam and Johnny Spallino.
