Theresa Mae Gros

Rayne, LA - Funeral services will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Monday, January 13, 2014 at 2:00 pm for Theresa Mae Gros , 84, who died Friday, January 10, 2014 at Rayne Guest Home after a short illness. Ms. Gros, called "Nannie" by her family, was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, great-aunt, great-great aunt and friend who will be remembered for her independent and outgoing spirit and for the love she showed her family and friends.

Interment will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery #2 .


Theresa Gros was born in Rayne, Louisiana, on September 7, 1929 and attended St. Joseph High School, graduating in 1946. Theresa worked at Mervine Kahn Department Store for 42 years until the store closed in 1989. Nannie enjoyed her 24 years of retirement surrounded by her friends, family and beloved cats. She was known and loved for her energy, enjoyment of life and strong Catholic faith. Theresa was a longtime member of the Catholic Daughters of America, St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ladies Altar Society, St. Joseph Catholic Church Choir and the Elderberries.


Theresa was preceded in death by her parents Wilfred Gros, Sr. and Eva Domingue Gros; her brother Wilfred Gros, Jr.; her sister-in-law Ruby Champagne Gros; her nephews Patrick Gros and Ignatius Cramer and her great-niece Natalie Comeaux. Theresa is survived by her nieces and nephews; Judy Leger Gros, Kathleen Gros Cramer Breaux and husband David Breaux, and Donna Gros Comeaux and husband Ben Comeaux; by sixteen great-nieces and nephews; Chad Gros, Jealena Francis Gros, Scott Gros, Jennifer Harmon Gros, Brandi Gros Burke, Erik Burke, Allison Cramer Segura, Luis Segura, Lyndsey Cramer Warner, John Warner, John Cramer, Nate Lielasus, Adrienne Comeaux, Maitlyn Comeaux, Emma Comeaux and Benjamin Comeaux; and by ten great-great nieces and nephews: Hannah Gros, Patrick Gros, Parker Gros, Chase Landry, Taylor Landry, Natalee Burke, Ethan Segura, Sophia Segura, Ignatius Warner and Amelia Comeaux.


Friends and family are invited to celebrate Theresa's life Monday, January 13, 2014 from 9:00 am until 1:30 pm at Gossen Funeral Home, Inc., Rayne, LA. A Rosary will be recited at 11:00 am Monday, January 13, 2014.


Donations in memory of Ms. Gros can be made to the American Heart Association, Heart of Hospice or St. Joseph Catholic Church.
