 William "Bill" Storey
LONGVILLE, TEXAS –– William J. Storey, age 78, went home to the Lord on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2014. On Thursday, April 24th, a Rosary will be said at 6:00pm followed by visitation at Rader Funeral Home. The Service will be held at St. Anthony ‘s Catholic Church at 10:00am on Friday, April 25th. Bill was a family man, loving husband to Loretta for 49 years, and father to 5 children. He believed in faith, family, church, charity, unity and living by example.

Bill grew up in Illinois and graduated from Bradley University with a degree in engineering. He later received his Professional Engineering license. While working in Albuquerque, he met his wife Loretta, who he married on November 26, 1964. Shortly after marrying, they moved to Illinois where they started their family. Eventually they settled in Texas.

Bill played an active role in his family’s lives. He spent many Saturdays at the soccer fields as a spectator, coach, referee, and soccer commissioner. Bill was a scout leader for his son Derek’s Boy Scout troop, traveled to all his children’s extracurricular activities, and enjoyed many camping trips with his family each summer. He was always the photographer, capturing the fun times the family had together. As his children grew up, he always made time to help them move in and out of the dorms or apartments as well as making sure their cars were tuned up. He was known as “Mr. Fix-It” because whatever wasn’t working in the house or on the car, he could not only fix it but explain how he fixed it.

Bill was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #2771 for over 30 years and Assembly #1103 for 25 years. He served as Grand Knight of Council #2771 and served as Faithful Navigator of Assembly #1103. In the Knights, service came first and he exemplified this by taking an active role in the food drives at Thanksgiving and Christmas every year. Bill also took part in “Rattle the Can” to raise money for Special Olympics, which he helped to make a success.

Bill was a member of Rotary, holding various leadership positions. Through Rotary, he and Loretta opened their home to several foreign exchange students. Years later when they took a trip to Europe, they visited their exchange students who in turn opened their home to them. He also served on the Gum Springs Water Board as secretary/treasurer. Bill served on the Finance Committee at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. Bill worked different manufacturing engineering jobs and retired from Lewis Engineering in Marshall.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Helen Storey, and brother John A. Storey.
