Funeral services for Mr. William Trahan, 84, of Roberts Cove, will be held on Friday, July 11, at noon in Forest Park Church of Christ, Crowley. Pastor Jason Corder will officiate. Interment will follow in Acadia Resthaven Cemetery in Crowley.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 10, from noon until 10 p.m. in Duhon Funeral Home, Crowley, and will continue on Friday from 9 a.m. until service time in Forest Park Church of Christ.
Mr. Trahan passed away on Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at 7 p.m. in a Lafayette hospital.
A native and lifelong resident of Roberts Cove, Mr. Trahan was loved by all who knew him. He was a longtime faithful member of Forest Park Church of Christ, where he was known as “The Candy Man” by all the children. Mr. Trahan was a generous, caring and kind man who was known as “Paw” to his many friends and family members. He was a dog-lover, he had a keen sense of humor, and his greatest joy was spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Gertie Mouton Trahan of Roberts Cove; son, Jerry Lee Trahan and wife Wilma of Roberts Cove; daughters, Jeanette Runner and husband Bruce of Roberts Cove, Joanna Smith and husband Daniel of Ottumwa, Iowa, and Vanessa Weller and husband Timothy of Ottumwa, Iowa; sisters, Wilma Miller and husband Reeve of Jennings, Lillie Notestine of Jennings, and Lydia Kebodeaux and husband Toby of Roberts Cove; brother, Ernest “E.J.” Trahan Jr. and wife Peggy of Roberts Cove; sisters-in-law, Delores Murphy Trahan of Roberts Cove, and Earline Prejean Trahan of Jennings; grandchildren, Tonia Stuckey and husband David of Indian Bayou, Nicole Trahan and fiancé Brannen Benoit of Roberts Cove, Billy Trahan and wife Sharon of Roberts Cove, Jeremy Runner and wife Jeanette of Roberts Cove, Benjamin Runner and wife Krystal of Roberts Cove, Joey Runner and wife Casey of Crowley, Cassie Ancelet and husband Grant of Roberts Cove, Joshua Smith and wife Esther of Biloxi, Mississippi, Amy Smith of Ottumwa, Iowa, Thaddeus Weller of Des Moines, Iowa, Tayton Weller of Coralville, Iowa, and Titus Weller of Ottumwa, Iowa; 26 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding Mr. Trahan in death were his parents, Ernest Trahan Sr. and Susan Blanche Ewing Trahan; sisters, Lucille Murphy and Dorothy Simon; and brothers, John Trahan, Lenis Trahan, Steve Trahan, and Rayford Trahan.
Serving as pallbearers are Mr. Trahan’s grandsons, Billy Trahan, Jeremy Runner, Benjamin Runner, Joey Runner, Joshua Smith, Thaddeus Weller, Tayton Weller and Titus Weller.
