Olympe “Ola” Landry Dronet
CROWLEY — Funeral services for Mrs. Olympe “Ola” Landry Dronet, 97, of Crowley was held on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. in Duhon Funeral Home Chapel in Crowley. Deacon Rodless LeLeux officiated. Interment followed in Holy Rosary Kaplan Cemetery in Kaplan.
Visitation was held on Friday, March 9, 2012 from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. in Duhon Funeral Home in Crowley, with a rosary recited at 6 p.m. Visitation continued on Saturday from 8 a.m. until service time in the funeral home.
Mrs. Dronet passed away on Thursday, March 8, 2012 at 3:25 p.m. in a Crowley care facility.
A native of Kaplan and longtime resident of Crowley, Mrs. Dronet was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. She spent many years as a cafeteria worker at Crowley Elementary School, and had also worked at Crowley Garment Factory and at a local tomato farm. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Dronet Broussard of Pasadena, Texas; son, Michael Dronet and wife, Ludell, of Crowley; grandchildren, Nick Broussard and wife, Fran, of Shelton, Conn., Christina Dronet Dean and husband, Andrew, of Denham Springs and Jennifer Dronet Dartez and husband, Chase, of Crowley; great grandchildren, Jerrid, Connie, Joey, Kaden, Andrew, Alex and Bennett; great-great grandchildren, Brayden and Chloe; sister-in-law, Beulah Dronet Spille of Baton Rouge; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Proceeding Mrs. Dronet in death were her husband, Nicholas Dronet; son, Paul Curtis Dronet; granddaughter, Connie Blount; parents, Alcee and Avia Mire Landry; sisters, Nita Benoit and Lelia Broussard; and son-in-law, J.C. Broussard.
