Opera House goes Broadway

CROWLEY – The Grand Opera House of the South will be presenting “An Evening of Broadway” tonight at 7 p.m. There will be a 1 p.m. matinee scheduled for Senior Citizens.
The show will feature Corey Trahan, Lisa Lee McCalmon and Naomi Cordill. Korey Barrett will be playing piano for the show.
Among the songs that will be performed will be “Don’t Cry For Me Argentina” from the play Evita, “No Business Like Show Business” from the play Annie Get Your Gun, and “I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Outta My Hair” from South Pacific.
“We are looking forward to having three of the best vocalists in our state performing here,” said Kim Gielen-Gattle, Executive Director of the Opera House. “We also have a wonderful pianist that will accompany them and they will be playing Broadway songs that we are all very familiar with. We would like people to know that you don’t have to go to New York to appreciate the sounds of Broadway.”
The Opera House reopened last fall after a very impressive renovation job. They have been working hard at lining up some of the best entertainment from Louisiana and around the country.
“We are expecting a magical evening,” said Gielen-Gattle. “This is an event that you can bring your family or a date to. We have been very fortunate to have some great talent here and look forward to much more in the future.”
