CROWLEY - Parents-to-be Chelsea Menard and Zeb LaCombe of Estherwood were the guest of honor during an “It’s a boy,” colorful themed jungle monkey shower recently.
Hostresses for the event at G&H Kitchen in Crowley included Amanda Simon (sister of the mother-to-be), Donna Bertrand, Sharon Mott, Holly Cart, Dinah Istre, Desiree Lejeuene, Jennifer LaCombe, Amy Marks, Christy Mendez and Brittany Kidder.
Maternal grandparents are Peggy and Donald Menard from Crowley.
Paternal grandparents are Terrell and Leslie Guidry from Mermentau and Jerry and Geralynn LaCombe from Evangeline.
Chelsea wore a long tourquosie and green flower dress with a tourquoise cardigan. Her corsage was a white flower with a monkey around it, along with babies’ breathe and baby toys hanging from it.
Her mother, Peggy Menard, wore a white shirt with black pants and her corsage was a blue babies’ rag decorated with a monkey and a white flower.
Zeb’s mother, Terrell Guidry, chose to wear a brown and red top with black pants.
His step mother, Geralynn LaCombe, wore a black and red top with dark dress pants.
Their corsages were also a blue babies’ rag decorated with a monkey and a white flower.
Delicious food was served including monkey cupcakes, chicken tray, sandwiches, fruit and vegetable tray, chips and dip, a shrimp mold, brownies, a pinwheel sandwich tray, punch and soft drinks.
The special cake was a two tier confection with cookies and cream filling layering the chocolate cake. It was decorated with white icing and green and blue polka dots and a monkey shaped stuffed animal on top. The bottom layer featured “Brodie,” the baby’s name, in blue.
Nearly 65 guests traveled from out of town areas including Scott, Lafayette, Gueydan, Church Point, Alexandra, Iota, Mermentau and Evangeline.
Brodie Joseph has no siblings and he is scheduled to be delivered around May 12, 2012.
