Parish trick or treat hours
CROWLEY – Trick or treat times around the parish vary this year with some area towns moving their festivities up to Thursday so as not to conflict with high school football games and other weekend events.
The following is a list of the designated trick-or-treat times for towns throughout Acadia Parish:
•Crowley - Witchy Way is a local event in which local businesses along Parkerson St. hand out candy to area residents. This year it is scheduled for October 30 from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. Trick or treat hours are on October 30 from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.
•Rayne - Trick or treat hours are from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.
•Church Point - Trick or treat hours are from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Thursday.
•Iota - Trick or treat hours are October 30 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
•Mermentau - Trick or treat hours are from 5:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. Thursday, October 30.
Authorities ask that adults closely watch their children and take all safety precautions. Here are a few tips to follow:
-It is advised that children wear bright colors.
-Drivers should use extra caution while driving in trick or treat areas.
-Make sure your kids costumes don’t obstruct their vision.
-Make sure longer costumes stop short of your children’s feet.
-Check your children’s candy before they eat it.
-Keep your house lights on.
-Make sure costumes aren’t flammable.
-Make sure your kids only approach houses with their lights on.
