Pedestrian killed on Highway 35 South

Chief Carroll Stelly announced that his department is investigating a pedestrian fatality that occurred on Friday July 17,2009 around 3:00 AM on Highway 35 South.

A Dodge Stratus was traveling North on Highway 35 South when the vehicle stuck a female pedestrian. The victim was pronounced dead on the scene by the Acadia Parish Coroner’s Office. The identity of the victim will not be released until the family has been notified.

Chemical analysis will be conducted on both the driver and victim and no charges have been filled at this time. The crash is still under investigation.
