CROWLEY – Many eager technology seekers lined up in front of the AT&T store, which is located next to Wal-Mart on Oddfellows Road in Crowley. The reason for the wait is that AT&T stores are offering the new Apple iPhone 3G. The phones are available with two sizes of memory, 8 or 16 gigabytes.

Dr. Ryan Simon, a local resident, explained that his wait was a total of about 1 1/2 hours, but feels it was well worth the wait. “It took a little while at the AT&T store for them to get through the glitches in the system, but after that the line went pretty fast,” Simon said.

The benefits of the popular new phone are speedier connections to the internet, and Simon seemed to be impressed with the real-time GPS. “You don’t have to carry around a bunch of devices around. All the technology you need is in this one phone,” he explained. Once the phone is brought home, a 20 minute setup is required.

“I’m a big technology guy,” Simon said, “so I opted for the 16 gig,” he said with a laugh.
