To perform at Zydeco Festival
JJ and the Zydeco Dog Pound are set to open the 26th Annual Zydeco Festival in Plaisance, August 30, during Labor Day weekend festivities.
The Zydeco Festival is one of the biggest festivals of its kind in the south. Thousands of people flock to the event each year from all parts of the world. Scheduled performers include:
•JJ & Zydeco Dog Pound - 10:30 a.m.
•Lost Bayou Ramblers - 12:15 p.m.
•Jeffery Broussard and Creole Cowboys - 1:30 p.m.
•Geno Delafosse and The French Rocking Boogie - 3:15 p.m.
•Grammy award winner Terrance Simien and Zydeco Experience - 5:30 p.m.
•Step Rideaus and The Zydeco Outlaws - 7:15 p.m.
•Chris Ardoin and NuStep - 9 p.m.
•Lil Nathan & Zydeco Big Timers - 11:15 p.m.

Members of the group hail from Ville Platte. Their single, Zydeco Girl, has become very popular among their fans, according to Jerry Gallow, aka JJ. “It’s an honor to perform at such a wonderful event,” he said. “I believe it is the first time a band from Evangeline Parish has performed at this event. The group is under the direction of manager Fabian Poullard.
