Person of interest named in Wednesday morning shooting

Crowley Police are currently investigating a shooting which happened on July 27, 2011 at 3:02 a.m. in the 200 block of Wilson St.

Officers say they found a white female laying on the ground with gunshot wounds. She was shot in the abdomen and head area. The victim is listed in critical, but stable condition.

Although a motive has not been established, Crowley Police are looking for a person of interest with this case. "We are seeking the public's assistance to located Derrick Davis, a black male, 27 years of age from Crowley. Davis has resided in Rhone Village Apartments and is believed to still be in this area. Davis is five feet, three inches in height weighing 130-145 pounds. He has a thin build," said Chief K.P. Gibson.

"We are encouraging anyone with information regarding the location of Derrick Davis to call Crime Stoppers of Acadia Parish at 789-8477. Davis is only a person of interest at this time," said Gibson.
