Pink Ladies hold Spring Brunch/general meeting
The Pink Lady Spring Brunch/general meeting was held April 2, 2009, at the Town Club.
President Yvonne Menard called the
meeting to order and called upon Elaine Robinson to lead the assembly in the Auxillary Prayer and Pledge as well as the Pledge of Allegiance.
Following this, Mary Briley introduced a new member since October, Roberta Guidry. The roll call and the minutes of the October general meeting were presented by Sylvia Dischler. Georgia Petitjean, treasure; gave the financial report and reported that the Pink Lady Auxiliary has donated $23,000.00 to the hospital since October.
Each member of the Pink Lady Board is required to give a report each April telling what she has done in the past year. These reports were given by Yvonne Menard, Mary Briley, Sylvia Dischler, Georgia Petitjean, Neline Bernard, Frankie Johnson, Helen Zaunbrecher, Gayle Godeaux and Elaine Robinson.
Yvonne Menard introduced the chairman of the Nominating Committee, Helen Zaunbrecher, and the other six members of the committee and then the new slate of officers. She asked for nominations from the floor for each office. With none being offered, the new slate was approved and then elected.
They are as follows: Mary Briley, president; Mona Ward, first vice-president; Gayle Godeaux, second vice-president; Lerdie Godeaux, third vice-president; Sylvia Dischler, secretary; Georgia Petitjean, treasurer; Yvonne Menard, parliamentarian; Barbara Simon, 3-year member; Emily Robinson, 3-year member; and Thelma Istre, 2-year member.
Ms. Menard reminded the ladies to be diligent about checking out and locking up at the end of the day. Also, she asked that they park in the reserved parking spaces only when they are on duty. When signing in for their shifts, the ladies should use only full hours or half hours on the pink cards.
Before ending the meeting, Ms. Menard gave a prepared statement thanking each member for their cooperation and support in making her four years as president so special. She stated that she especially appreciates the board members who have served with her.
Ms. Menard reminded the members that scholarship forms are going out soon to each of the seven high schools in the parish as well as the technical college.
These recipients are chosen by the schools and presented by Pink Ladies at the various awards programs in May at the high schools. Eight scholarships of $500 will be presented and paid for by Pink Ladies.
There were 39 members in attendance and door prizes of potted plants and an arrangement from the head table were given. Those winning these were Eveline Leger, Rose Millet, Sylvia Gaudet, Rose Primeaux, Mona Ward and Alvirta Thomas.
Before adjourning for a buffet lunch. Ms. Menard reminded the members that the 50th Anniversary of the Pink Ladies will be celebrated at the May luncheon with special guests in attendance.
