Pink Ladies meet in April to plan general meeting
On May 4, 2009 the Pink Lady Board held its regular monthly meeting at the American Legion Hospital. The meeting was called to order by President Yvonne Menard who called upon the
chaplain, Elaine Robinson, to lead the members in the auxiliary pledge and prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance. Secretary Sylvia Dischler called the roll and read the minutes of the April meeting. The treasure’s report was read and explained by Georgie Petitjean.
Ms. Menard reported that the board has again agreed to sponsor two girls to Louisiana Girls State to be held this summer. She also reported that the local Girl Scouts have presented the Pink Ladies with ten boxes of cookies and these will be used as door prizes at the general meeting and luncheon.
Ethel Thibodeaux reported that at the general meeting service pins will be presented to 18 members. Mary Briley reported that Leora Amy has been trained and has begun working on Mondays. Gayle Godeaux submitted the name of Tammy Gautreaux as a potential member. She was approved for membership and will be receiving information form the organization in the near future.
Helen Zaunbrecher and Frankie Johnson reported that plans have been finalized for the general meeting to be held May 7. The expected attendance for the 50th anniversary luncheon is 56 members.
Nettie Romero was pleased to report that the Gift Shop is doing well, but she asked members to see that food and drinks are not brought into the Gift Shop. Ms. Menard congratulated the calling committee on their efficiency in contacting members in the recent past about the meetings and the memorial services that we have attended.
Sylvia Dischler has sent a get well card to Yvonne Simon and a thank you note and a check to Mary Leger for her crocheted items for sale in the Gift Shop. Also, sympathy cards were sent to the families of two former Pink Ladies, Rae Mate and Edna Dilly.
It was voted on and approved to buy a new coffee cart to be used each day to deliver coffee and juice to patients’ rooms. The expected cost os $121.90.
Pink Lady scholarships will be presented at the seven Acadia Parish high schools and Technical College in the coming weeks. Pink Ladies will present these $500 scholarships at the awards programs to students selected by their schools.
The next monthly meeting will be held June 1, 2009.
