Pink Ladies present donation to American Legion Hospital
The regular meeting of the Pink Lady Board was held August 4, in the conference room of the American Legion Hospital. President Yvonne Menard called the meeting to order and asked Elaine Robison, chaplain, to lead the ladies in the Auxiliary Pledge and Prayer and then the Pledge of Allegiance. Following this, secretary Sylvia Dischler called the roll and read the minutes of the July meeting. Treasurer Georgie Petitjean gave the treasurer’s report.
Ms. Menard reported that she had delivered a flower to Bobbie Leonards during her stay in the hospital. She also read a lovely note from Amber Stewart thanking the Pink Ladies for sponsoring her to Louisiana Girls’ State. She said it was a once in a lifetime experience and was grateful for the opportunity to be there.
Two new prospective members were approved by the Board. These ladies are Emily Robinson and Vivian Berkholder.
Nettie Romero reported that the gift shop had received some donations recently from Mary Leger. She donated a porcelain doll and several children’s books. These will be sold in the gift shop.
Gayle Godeaux, in charge of the scrapbook, reported that she has recently bought a laminator to preserve newspaper clippings and other items.
After a brief discussion, the Board approved five ladies to be given Honorary Lifetime Memberships. This award is given to Pink Ladies who have served the organization for many years in many capacities but who can no longer volunteer. The names of these recipients will be announced later after the certificates are awarded to them
The Beautification Committee has been working very hard to make the front of the hospital an inviting environment with new plants and planters. The floor now has concrete stenciling donated by Anthony Stymest of Old World Concrete. Members of the committee are Georgie Petitjean, Babs Simon, and Gayle Godeaux.
The next meeting of the Board will be September 1.
