Pink Lady Auxiliary hold March meeting at American Legion

The regular monthly meeting of the Pink Lady Auxiliary was held March 2, 2009 in the American Legion Hospital. Calling the meeting to order was the president , Yvonne Menard. She then asked chaplain, Elaine Robinson, to lead the auxiliary pledge and prayer

and the Pledge of Allegiance.

Secretary Sylvia Dischler called the roll and read the minutes of the February meeting. Treasurer Georgie Petitjean gave the treasurer’s report. A note was read from Anna Mae Leger thanking the Pink Ladies for the opportunity to serve but offering her resignation from the Pink Ladies de to health concerns.

New members were approved by the board. Leora Amy has been sponsored by Thelma Istre, and Carolyn Mouton has been sponsored by Babs Simon. Betty Constantine and Vanessa Romero have been sponsored by 
Roberta Guidry.

The hospitality committee of Franki Johnson and Helen Zaunbrecher reported that arrangements are proceeding for the April 2nd general meeting and luncheon at the Town Club. The board members will be calling the general membership later in the month to remind the members and the meal will be paid for by the Pink Lady Auxiliary.

The Nominating Committee met during the previous month and has a slate of candidates ready to be presented at the April meeting for election of officers and board members. Nominations will also be accepted from the floor at the meeting. Those nominated are as follows: President- Mary Briley; first vice-president- Mona Ward; second vice-president- Gayle Godeaux; third vice-president- Lerdie Godeaux; secretary- Sylvia Dischler; treasure- Georgie Petitjean; parliamentarian- Yvonne Menard; and as three-year board members- Barbara Simon and Emily Robinson.

Ms. Menard was contacted by a local Girl Scout group leader, Carol Gautreaux, who has reported that the GSA troop has chosen the local Pink Ladies as one of three organizations to receive some boxes of cookies as tokens of appreciation for the services that the ladies provide. On behalf of the membership, the board thanks the Girl Scouts.

The next board meeting will be March 30 at 10 a.m. in the conference room of the hospital.
