Police announces two drug arrests
Rayne Police Chief Carroll Stelly has released details of two separate events that have led to narcotic arrests over the weekend.
On Sunday March 29, 2009,
a patrol officer observed an alleged illegal vehicle operating on a city street and attempted to stop the driver. After a short chase the suspect was stopped and the ensuing investigation resulted in the arrest of:
Brandon “Bear’ Mouton, B/M, 25 years of age, DOB 3/31/1983, 413 Malvern Avenue Rayne, was charged with numerous traffic charges, including flight from an officer, possession of Schedule II narcotics, possession of a firearm while in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance, and the illegal carrying of a firearm by a convicted felon. Total bond was set on Mouton by Rayne City Judge Jim Cunningham at $27,977.
In an unrelated incident on March 29, 2009, detectives with the Narcotics Investigation Division conducted an investigation that resulted in a search warrant being issued. Officers served the warrant on the residence located at 411 North LeBlanc. Detectives charged Jason “Poon” McClelland, B/M, 39 years of age, DOB 2/1/1970, 411 North LeBlanc, Rayne, with Possession of a Schedule II narcotic and money derived from illegal drug sales. Bond was set by Judge Jim Cunningham at $30,000.
