Police Jury to meet Tuesday over PA issue
CROWLEY – The Acadia Parish Police Jury will hold its second special meeting at 10 a.m. Tuesday to discuss the possible hiring of a Parish Administrator.
This will be the second such meeting as jurors decided at a special meeting on January 13 to postpone making a decision on the matter.
Strong arguments were heard from both sides of the issue at the prior meeting, as jurors held discussions amongst each other and heard from the public on whether or not to create a position which would oversee the Police Jury in matters of boosting the economy and increasing Acadia Parish’s business community. Many people were of the opinion that Rayne Mayor James “Jimbo” Petitjean would be the man for the job, though some were annoyed that no other names were being mentioned.
The meeting will be once again open to the public and, judging by the crowd at the Jan. 13 meeting, which was standing room only, those who wish to attend may wish to arrive early.
