Police recover stolen guns from residence

CROWLEY – Crowley Police working with information obtained through a confidential source, where able to recover a large assortment of stolen guns from a Crowley residence.

“Our officers received information of numerous weapons being transported to a residence on North Ave J near 15th Street on Wednesday, August 20th. Upon the investigations beginning, officers located suspects and detained them pending their investigation” stated Crowley Chief of Police K.P. Gibson. “During the investigation, officers obtained permission to search to property where the stolen guns were believed to be hidden” stated Chief Gibson.

A search of the residence in question led to the recovery of 18 guns, which were reported stolen during a burglary in rural Acadia parish. Once the weapons were recovered, officers worked with detectives from the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office to help close the case. All weapons as well as detained suspects were released to the custody of the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office as part of their investigation.

“Our patrol officers did an outstanding job from beginning to end. They took the information made available to them and were able to develop it into the recovery of these stolen weapons. I appreciate there dedication to getting the job done for our community” stated Chief Gibson.
