Post scripts: Early voting
Early voting for the May 1 elections began this past Saturday and will continue until this coming Saturday, April 24.
Here in Crowley there are three tax renewals on the ballot.
Proposition one is a 10-year, 5-mill property tax for street maintenance.
Proposition two is also a 10-year, 5-mill property tax for public building and drainage maintenance.
Proposition three is a 10-year, 3/4-mill property tax for maintaining cemeteries.
The 5-mill taxes are expected to generate $330,000 annually while the 3/4 mill tax would generate $50,000 annually.
All of the taxes are renewals.
Also on the ballot is a renewal of a 10-year, 8-mill property tax for the First Ward Drainage District. The tax would be for drainage in the Rayne area and would generate $343,000. annually.
Early voting is taking place at the Acadia Parish Registrar’s office on the Court Circle.
Things around town are really nice with all of the flowers in full bloom…The Tractor Supply Store on Oddfellows Road is going up quickly…Seems at this time of the year there are too many things going on to attend them all…Graduation for the Seniors of 2010 is just around the corner…This past Sunday’s rain was sorely needed in this area.
