Prayer Breakfast dedicated to military men and women

Early last Friday morning, civic leaders, service organizations, city officials and employees, residents from the City of Zachary, and leaders from around the parish gathered together to give thanks at the 28th Annual Mayor's Prayer Breakfast.

"We have plenty for which to be thankful. We often overlook the many blessings around us," said an emotional Mayor Henry Martinez, as he dedicated the ceremony to the men and women serving in the military.

"We are here to give thanks, honor the military and give thanks to God almighty," said Martinez.

Some of Zachary's leaders who were in attendance: City Council Members Francis Nezianya, John Coghlan, Randall Bouley, Dan Wallis, and Melvin Riley, Police Chief John Herty, Fire Chief Boyce Smith Jr., and City Court Judge Lonny Myles.

A special thanks went out to the Zachary Fire Department who made the delicious breakfast, the Zachary Rotary Club, City of Zachary employees, First Baptist Church of Zachary, and Dixon Correctional Institute who all participated in making the prayer breakfast a huge success.

A special prayer was asked for one of the Breakfast Committee members, Neita Payne, who was injured the night before the event while helping to set up.

Other committee members who assisted in organizing were Lois Hastings, Chief Boyce Smith, Tess Ricketts, and Ashlee Anderson.
