Preston Arista Olivier
Carencro – Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 30, 2008, at 10 a.m. in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel for Preston Arista Olivier, 83, who passed away Sunday, April 27, 2008, at 8:09 p.m. at Doctor’s Hospital in Opelousas.
Interment will be in Evangeline Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Jeff Ables, pastor of Crossroads Church in Lafayette, will officiate at the services.
Musical selections will be provided by Valerie Andrus.
Mr. Olivier was a native of Arnaudville and a resident of Lafayette for many years. He had been employed with CJ Richard Lumber Company in Carencro and with KLFY TV10 for 25 years where he was affectionately called Mr. O. His years there brought great joy in his life. He was a member of Crossroads Church in Lafayette. Mr. Olivier was a veteran of the military, having served in World War II. He was a member of the V.F.W. Arnaudville Post.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Mary Peck Olivier of Sunset; two daughters, Glenda Olivier and Sheri Bajat and her husband Steve, all of Sunset; five grandchildren, Leah Halverson, Britney Olivier, Brendon Bajat, Jamie Ladner and Stephanie Ladner; one great-granddaughter, Dylan Ladner; two brothers, Russell Olivier and Leland Olivier and his wife Betty, all of Arnaudville; four sisters, Earlene Olivier, Annie Lou Hardy and her husband Dolphy, and Shirley Taylor and her husband Harris, all of Arnaudville and Melanie Olivier of Lafayette; and a daughter-in-law, Anna Olivier of Lafayette.
He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Jim Olivier; his parents, Arista Olivier and the former Alta LaGrange, both natives of Arnaudville; two brothers, Dalton Olivier and an infant; and three sisters, Eula Mae Dupuis, Esther Stelly and Audrey Robin.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 9 a.m. until service time on Wednesday.
Pallbearers will be Steve Bajat, Brendon Bajat, Victor Galicia, Dr. Joe Wilson, Andrew Halverson, Felix Noel and Tony Galicia. Honorary military pallbearer will be Jonathan Blanchard; and honorary pallbearers will be Russell Olivier and Leland Olivier.
