Pritchett resigns as Roseland Volunteer Fire Chief
Roseland Volunteer Fire Department Chief John Pritchett has announced his resignation to the Town of Roseland. A replacement for Pritchett will be decided on at the Thursday, December 11 regular meeting of the Roseland Council.
The council has the decision to find another chief or a possible merge with Tangipahoa Parish Fire District #1 in Amite under the direction of Chief Bruce Cutrer.
John Pritchett has been a resident of Roseland for 54 years. He owns Pritchett's Auto located off of Hwy. 51 in Roseland. Pritchett has served as chief of Roseland's Volunteer Fire Department since 2001. He has been involved in firefighting for many years.
Pritchett said that he really liked what he did, but feels that he needs to spend more time at his business. As chief he was responsible for, "all the inner workings of the fire department, good and bad," he said. There are currently about 12 volunteers with Roseland.
When asked if he would ever return if the department needed him, Pritchett replied, "It's a possibility. If the conditions are right."
