Monica Matthews-Taylor definitely knows where her priorities lie, “First is God, then my family and work,” was the first statement she made during an interview.
Originally from Lyons Point, she and her two children, Bryce age 14 and Emily age 9 reside in Egan.
She is most grateful for the support of her family who has always been there for her.
For the past seven years, Monica has enjoyed her work as a pupil appraisal secretary of the Special Education Department of the Acadia Parish School Board.
“I love being able to meet new people and the job itself is enjoyable to me,” she said.
In a day’s work, Monica performs such tasks as filing records, transcribing documents and other like duties (which on Friday included filling in for the front desk secretary while she was out, a task which she performed graciously.)
Monica attended the technical college in Crowley and received her associate degree in office systems technology prior to working for the school board.
Aside from her job, Monica enjoys spending time with family and friends and going Cajun dancing. She also enjoys being part of the Acadia Parish Relay for Life Team and traveling. Recently, she and a few family members traveled to Key West and the Bahamas on the KBON cruise.
“I look forward to a lot more traveling in the future and getting out and enjoying life,” she said.
