Puppy paralyzed by pellet in spine

A dog was paralyzed Monday when a Eunice man decided to shoot it with a pellet gun.

According to police, a call was received about 5 p.m. about several people with a pellet gun shooting at a dog in a trailer park on Acadia Street.

Responding units found a stray puppy that had been shot in the spine, leaving it unable to walk.

Brian Gene Thibodeaux, 27, of 256 Acadia, was charged with cruelty to animals and discharging an airgun in the city limits.

The report did not say what led Thibodeaux to shoot the dog and did not say what was done with the animal.
