Queb’s Picks: Post-Signal Football Contest hitting stretch run
By Chris Quebedeaux
With the Crowley Post-Signal Football Contest hitting its final stretch, contestants are fighting to gain ground on overall leader Don Kernan.
Benjamin Lormand took top honors last week, but he failed to close the gap with both he and Kernan missing five games. Lormand won by virtue of the tie breaker.
Kernan now holds a comfortable 12-game lead over Donna Dartez and is 13 games ahead of Douglas LaCombe and Andrew Sarver with four weeks remaining.
I dropped seven games to bring my loss total to 56.
Robert Habetz and Kevin Minix brought up the rear of the entries with 11 losses each.
Now on to this week’s picks:
On the prep scene I’m going with Notre Dame over Kaplan, Abbeville over Rayne, North Vermilion over Erath, Crowley over Northwest, Westlake over Iowa, Eunice over Church Point, Mamou over Iota, Comeaux over Carencro, St. Thomas More over New Iberia, Teurlings over Cecilia, Bunkie over Avoyelles, Bolton over Pine Prairie, Vidalia over Jena, Parkview over Redemptorist, Westminster over St. Edmund, Gueydan over Delcambre and Loreauville over Jeanerette.
On the college level I’m taking Alabama over LSU, Penn State over Ohio State, Oklahoma over Nebraska, Miami over Virginia and Arkansas State over UL-Lafayette.
