Queb's Picks: Kernan takes lead
CROWLEY – Late runs in the Crowley Post-Signal Football Contest are fairly common and last week was no different.
Don Kernan, who trailed by as many as six games three weeks ago, made a late push, dropping just three games last week to win the weekly top prize and take the overall lead with 52 losses.
Benjamin Lormand placed second with four losses while I dropped six games to fall to 60 losses on the season.
Blaise Frey fell to the No. 2 spot overall with 53 losses. He is followed by Jeremy Leckelt and Easton LaCombe with 55 losses each and Brent Theunissen with 56.
Now on to this week’s picks:
On the prep scene I’m going with Notre Dame over Church Point, Mangham over Gueydan, Cedar Creek over Block, Delhi Charter over Delcambre, Many over Rosepine, Cecilia over Independence, Lutcher over St. Louis, Amite over North DeSoto, Redemptorist over St. Charles, Richwood over Booker T. Washington, Neville over Breaux Bridge, Northside over Karr, Leesville over Zachary, Higgins over Manderville, Barbe over Dutchtown and Byrd over Ouachita.
My upset picks are going to be Patterson over Westlake in a semifinal rematch from last year and Rayville over Parkview.
In the college ranks, I’m going to start with my upset pick, and this one is even crazier than my Patterson over Westlake prediction .
I’m bringing Michigan back to the contest and taking my Wolverines to upset Ohio State. Hey, it could happen.
I’m also going out on a limb and taking LSU over Ole Miss. But if the Tigers fall behind 28 points again, don’t stick around for another miracle comeback.
In the final game, I’m going with Texas Tech over Oklahoma. I’ve been on the Red Raider bandwagon since week three and I’m not jumping off. I just can’t wait to see Texas Tech and Alabama in the BCS Championship game.
