Rayne’s Pete Petitjean impresses Nike Camp staff

A Rayne member of the state champion Notre Dame High School Pioneer football team has been cited for his outstanding performances during the Baton Rouge Nike Football Training Camp at the LSU practice fields on Saturday, April 17.

Pete Petitjean, a 6-1, 261 pound offensive lineman for the Notre Dame Pios in Crowley became only one of 25 prospects from nine states, including one from California, to make the cut for the third ESPN RISE All-Nike Camp team of the year.

Petitjean’s selection was based on camp performances according to the NFTC staff and recruitability.

About Petitjean, the staff reported, “Although he doesn’t have the ideal size that most Division I schools covet at center or guard, Petitjean performed well and demonstrated great footwork during drills. He doesn’t have an offer, but should get some attention following Saturday’s camp and experience as a starter on last year’s state championship team.”

Petitjean is the son of Rayne Mayor Jim and Lyn Petitjean.
