Rayne band hopes to play Sugar Bowl

RAYNE –Adrian Alba III, band director of the Rayne High School Band, in an open letter to the residents of Rayne and supporters of Rayne High School, asks for financial backing in order for the marching band to play at the halftime show at the 2009 Sugar Bowl in New Orleans.

A very major concern for the band director is the cost of the trip.

“This cost, which is nominal for most, is more than students’ families and our band/school can afford. We are asking for your help to make this possible for our students,” he expressed.

A $239 registration fee per students covers the registration fee and one night hotel stay for the game. Extra costs include travel expenses and the cost of food.

“Any held that you can give in the form of donations would be greatly appreciated,” added Alba.

Alba also points out, “This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for our band students. The students will be able to perform for the game, and also be able to watch the game from the field level.”

The band director also adds, “This is a mass band performance with other schools included from all over the nation. The students will not only be able to represent Rayne High School, but the community or Rayne as well. This will be a great way to publicize the success and accomplishments of our school and city,”

Donations are currently being accepted at the high school. Checks should be made out to “Rayne High Band, says Principal Bobby Hamlin.
