Rayne CDA will sponsor bus to Life March in Baton Rouge
The Catholic Daughters Court No. 844 will charter a bus and pick up passengers in Duson, Scott, Lafayette and Breaux Bridge to attend the first Life March in Baton Rouge on Jan. 22. The deadline to sign up for the bus is Jan. 15, 2011.
Other local sponsors include the Rayne Knights of Columbus Council and local chapter of Right to Life.
Lousiana’s first Life march will occur on the 38th anniversary of Roe vs. Wade from 10 a.m. to noon.
Participants will gather behind the Old State Capitol (I00th North Blvd), and beginning at 10 a.m., process down 4th Street towards the steps of the State Capitol. The march will be approximately 0.8 of a mile long, and last anywhere from 20-40 minutes.
Once at the steps of the Capitol, beginning at 11 a.m., faith, civic, and community leaders will lead prayers and speak to the participants. Governor Jindal has been invited to be the keynote speaker. Organizers are waiting word on his participation before other speakers are announced.
After the speakers and prayers conclude around noon, a Life Ministry Mobilization area near the steps of the Capitol will allow participants to learn how they can be directly involved through contributions of time, talent, and treasure to church and community pro-life organizations making a difference.
