Rayne High Class of ‘59 holds 50-year Reunion
Chef Roy’s Frog City Café was the setting on Saturday, Oct. 3, for a 50-year class reunion held in honor of the Rayne High School graduating class of 1959
. The evening event included a social and dinner.
Reunion committee members were Betty Morgan Thevis, Janie Spaetgens Wright, Faye Richard Jeffers, Shirlene Richard Lastovica, Hazel Thibodeaux Prevost, Louella Leon Richard, Peggy Sonnier Cormier, Beatrice Gautreaux Montgomery, Brenda Hoffpauir Hargrave, Barbara Lantier Comeaux and Gayle Stutes Foreman.
Over 30 classmates were in attendance from Rayne, Branch, Crowley, Scott, Duson, Lafayette, Church Point, Baton Rouge, Lake Charles, Thibodaux, Kaplan, New Orleans, and points of Texas, Alabama, Arkansas and Oklahoma.
Deceased classmates remembered during the reunion were Jack Thibodeaux, Hilton Menard, Curtis David Simon, Lane Joseph Hernandez, Alton G. Cormier, Bryan J. Chatelain, Barbara A. Duhon, Leslie E. Richard, Rosella Stelly Perry, Marjorie A. Hargrave, Jasper Credeur, Harold Boudreaux, Rebecca M. Hanks Makuch, Ronald P. Hanks, Bertha J. Doucet Zaunbrecher, Delores M. Comeaux Richard, Uda Roy Leger, Judy A. Cormier O’Campo, and Brenda L. Peterson.
Class officers were president Peter Comeaux, vice president Ronald P. Hanks, secretary Mary Annette Mier Comeaux and treasurer Joyce T. Bergeron Towry.
Also remembered was the class colors of red and white, along with the class motto, “We Finish To Begin.”
