Rayne High homecoming set

During ceremonies Tuesday morning at City Hall, Mayor Jim Petitjean signed the official proclamation proclaiming the week of Sept. 29 - Oct. 3, 2008 as “Rayne High School Homecoming Week.”

In attendance for the special ceremony were Rayne High principal Bobby Hamlin, RHS Athletic Director Kurt Ware, faculty sponsors Beth Goins and Norellie Fontenot, and members of the 2008 Homecoming Court.

Court members include: Krystal Ja’nae Chevis, daughter of Linda and Joseph Chevis; Morgen Alis Credeur, daughter of Michelle and Jonathan Fusilier and Karl Gaspard; Shandi Michel’ DeVille, daughter of Dwayne and Jessica Johnson and the late Michael DeVille; Lovely Vonciel Somon Lawrence, daughter of Bethel and Melvin Lawrence; Lauren Michelle Lopez, daughter of Justin and Phyllis Lopez; Kaitlin Elyse Peart, daughter of Jean and Andrew Onebane and David Peart; Kayla JoAn Roy, daughter of Scotty and Belinda Roy; Tori Michelle Sarsfield, daughter of Jodi and Kurt Benoit and Timothy Sarsfield; Brittany Paige Thibodeaux, daughter of Nicole Menard Thibodeaux and Steve Thibodeaux; Courtney Marie Thibodeaux, daughter of JD and Paulette Thibodeaux.

This year’s Homecoming will honor the classes of “8” with a number of activities and programs to be enjoyed by students, faculty, alumni and the public.

In addition to daily activities planned for the students and alumni, the annual Homecoming Parade will be held on Thursday, Oct 2, beginning at 6 p.m. at Rayne Central Kindergraten and concluding at the school.

The annual Friday morning Homecoming Day Alumni Reception will begin at 9:30 a.m. with registration for RHS alumni. The Alumni Reception will begin at 10 a.m. in the school library.

Later that afternoon beginning at 2 p.m., students and guests will enjoy the annual Homecoming Pep Rally in the school’s north gym.

During the 2008 Homecoming Game, the Wolves will host the Kaplan Pirates during a 7 p.m. contest. During halftime activities, the Homecoming Court will be introduced and the new queen crowned.
