Rayne High Homecoming Week proclaimed

Complete with the bevy of beautiful young ladies selected for the 2009 Homecoming Court, ceremonies were held Tuesday, Sept. 22, at City Hall when Mayor Jim Petitjean signed the official proclamation as he proclaimed Sept. 27-Oct. 3 as “Rayne High School Homecoming Week” in the City of Rayne.
Faculty sponsors Beth Goins and Norellie Fontenot escorted the 10 seniors selected to the Homecoming Court for the morning program.
Homecoming Court members are: Brittany Renee Arabie, daughter of Danette and Greg Arabie; Brooke Ashleigh Arceneaux, daughter of James and Laura Arceneaux; Julie Nicole Boutin, daughter of Donnie and Jamie Boutin; Kayla Jane McFalls Fontenot, daughter of Jimmy and Norellie Fontenot; Jessica Paige Lafleur, daughter of Becky Lafleur and Rodney Lafleur; Caitlyn Clair Peltier, daughter of Church and Sylvia Peltier; Erin Celeste Savoy, daughter of Randy and Tricia Savoy; Ava Margaret Stutes, daughter of Jeff and Suzanne Stutes; Stephanie Lynne Tabb, daughter of Ann and Daniel Keeley and the late Steve Tabb, Sr.; Taylor Faith Venable, daughter of Daniel and Terri Venable.
A number of activities and programs has been scheduled for the students and alumni for Homecoming Week, including:
Monday, Sept. 28 - (Maw Maw and Paw Paw Day)
Tuesday, Sept. 29 - (Opposite Day)
Wednesday, Sept. 30 - (Side Kick Day)
Thursday, Oct. 1 - (Decade Day for the 80’s) The annual Homecoming Parade will begin at 5:30 p.m. at Central Kindergarten and ending at Rayne High School where introductions will be made and a pep rally will be held. Please be on time to participate.
Friday, Oct. 2 - (Spirit Shirt Day) Alumni are reminded to attend the annual Friday morning Alumni Reception slated at 10 a.m. in the school library. All alumni are invited to attend, especially the honor classes ending in “9.”
Friday afternoon will host a 2 p.m. pep rally in the north gym. Homecoming court members will be introduced, along with senior football players, all in anticipation of the big football game that evening.
The Homecoming Game, which will pit the Wolves against parish rival Crowley High, will begin at 7 p.m. at Wolf Stadium Friday evening. Crowning of the new 2009 Homecoming Queen will take place during special halftime activities.
